This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. It is attractive to look at from the outside and an effort has been made to make the reception area look appealing, but... there is something somehow lacking. The decor ends up being a bit corporate rather than charming. We stayed in a Heritage room which meant that we had our own entrance direct onto the forecourt, but does mean that you are a bit cut off from the rest of the hotel. However we concluded that this didn't really matter because there was not much to the rest of the hotel. The bed was very firm, which was fine for me but my husband didn't sleep so comfortably. The pillows are not bad at all. The bed linen was also nice. The aircon was efficient and quiet.
The bathroom could have been cleaner - behind the door were hairs on the floor, definitely not ours. Also the fittings (taps, shower head) are cheap and already all rather wobbly. In another few months they are definitely falling off! The conservatory bar area was unusable because it has no aircon or shade and was therefore like a furnace. It isn't manned anyway - there is just a choice of beer or wine to serve yourself in the fridge. It would be so much better if this was downstairs in the lobby where it was cooler rather than upstairs. Also, rather pointless coloured lights in the bathroom are so complicated to work that we struggled to get them to switch off and had to put up with dim light on 2 of our three nights. What's wrong with switches that just switch on or off?

The location is good, quiet side street, excellent restaurant across from the hotel, easy parking, very friendly staff. The interior is tastefully designed, keeping up the heritage feel.
Our shower door did not close. It didn't seem like a new problem, and even though we flagged it on the day of arrival, it wasn't fixed the next day.

Location was +++. Right in the middle of town, easily can walk to attractions nearby.
Staff were very helpful in recommending things to eat and do. And they were attentive and pleasant. The rooms were super clean, so were the toilets. Good water pressure and facilities. Very vintage appearance, definitely worth the money.
Rooms had no windows but thats ok because they were pretty big so even my claustrophobic dad didn't feel it.
Bed was a little too soft but still acceptable.

It's a morden hotel. You can see paintings on the wall at lobby, and the room is pretty and comfortable.
The lady was not friendly during checkin.
The location is not ideal. It's busy area and you have to watch for cars and scooters on the sidewalk.

Clean room, comfortable bed but hot water shower a little lacking
Short walk to New Street for local street food
Excellent service especially from friendly
and cheerful Ampa, making our stay very enjoyable. Highly recommended
Hot water shower a little lacking

The rooms were really lovely, big and clean. Nice bathroom and a good location to easily walk to shops and restaurants.
There was no window in our room which was not clear at the time of booking. This needs to be more clear on the booking system so that we could have opted for a room with a window.
The hotel didn't have any breakfast/ coffee facilities and there isn't a café very near (at least 5-10mins walk).

Friendly crew plus good location (away from the noisy main road).

excellent location, very close to all the best hawker food.
parking was a bit limited. there should be lines drawn so that the guests can park their cars properly.

Location is great. Staff are dedicated, friendly and professional. They helped me solve door lock issue even after midnight. Note that the service desk isn't 24 hours so the staff was on call at home.
Cleanliness especially the bedsheets and blanket have stains. We only noticed it the next day since we were very tired and feel asleep immediately after a shower
The door lock also is a bit wonky. They have us 2 key cards but only 1 can unlock the door at any 1 time. When we fixed the unusable card, it can unlock but the other (previously usable one) can't be used anymore.

My husband and I loved the colonial vibes of this place. Shower was spacious and had great water pressure. Bed was also super comfy. Would visit again.
Not all rooms had windows, and we got one that didn't. No complaints otherwise.

Location is the strongest selling point. However, we didn’t think it was value for money, as the rooms aren’t big, and price was more than RM1,700 for 4pax over 2 nights.
Floors in both rooms we booked were dusty, and still was even after we asked the staff to vacuum it (it wasn’t thorough, just a shoddy job as we had already checked into the room only to realize floors were dirty). Layout of the room we stayed at was not practical at all, as we had 4 pax and got the connecting rooms. Once the connecting door to adjourning rooms are open, you can’t access the cupboard door behind, and vice versa. It sort of blocks the entrance to the toilet too. Lighting of room is not well-lit either. Staff aren’t too well-trained to provide good hospitality, but no major issues there as we just made do with our room.

a very nice owner who gives useful recommendations. great design is the hotel. great located to visit George Town, just at the edge of the of the old part
although the generell experience was good, there are some points which disturb us:
the bed sheets were dirty. the floor, especially underneath the bed, was dusty. the rooms do not get dark, as there is led light inside bathroom which goes directly into the bed room and cannot taken off. room has no windows. rooms already looked at bit worn down.

Staff: the boss Bill is friendly.
Wifi: good.
Location: close to downtown and walking distance to many attractions.
- Room was too small. Didn't expect the room to be that small for the price we paid. Though we've expected that the price went up during holidays, it's still a bit disappointed. And below are the real issues:
- Cleaniness is a big problem. We saw bugs on the bed...This is unacceptable. (as shown)
- There were holes on the duvet...I have been traveling for many years. I've been to B&B, Motel, family-owned stay... I have NEVER seen holes on the duvet. (as shown)
- The hot water supply was not stable. Sometime it's super hot, and sometime it's just lurk warm. Having stable hot water supply is the BASIC requirement for a hotel/stay right?
For the ratings & stars, I had high expectation, but nothing met my expectation. Overall, we were sorry but we didn't enjoy the stay at all.

Convenient location, walkable to main area and easily accessible to food.
Comfortable bed, spacious room.
Very nicely decorated common areas, with greenery and sunlight, although we didn't spend any time there at all.
SERVICE - non-existent from the owners of the property. The hired staff fared so much better.
We arrived very early, around 10am. The lady at the counter barely looked at us, no smile, no greeting, no welcome. Just said - your room is not ready, and proceeded to busy herself with her own matters. The worse customer service I've ever encountered.
On the last day of check out, we placed our luggages at the hotel and went out, planning to clear the remaining bill when we returned to take a cab to the airport. Another guy, most likely a co-owner of the hotel, texted me when we were out very rudely demanding that we pay the balance, as though we were trying to cheat them. Excuse me, my luggage is still at your hotel, couldn't you have waited till we got back before clarifying with us on the bill? Did you have to call and text and whatsapp to say that I did not pay the bill??
And when I replied to say, we will pay when we come back to pick up the luggage, is that ok?, he simply replied "Ok pls".
Ridiculous and non-existent hospitality.
Walls are thin too, so we can here activity outside our rooms in the night. We were just too tired thankfully, so we managed to fall asleep.

the staff and the owner were very nice and very helpful. All the basic facilities were there, including filtered drinking water and snacks. Very big and comfortable bed. The location was nice, quiet street and close to the city center. Hotel design was very nice and cozy.
We were surprised to find out there was no window in the room, even though it was not mentioned in booking. There was a curtain in the room but no window behind it. Overall everything was clean, except after 2 days they changed our bedsheet and the new one had stains. Also there was a bad (sewage) smell in the toilet.

We had a wonderful stay especially due to the owner of the hotel, who gave us so many special tips! Definitely recommend this place in George Town!
