The location was good but a number of homeless around. They did not bother you. Need better lighting in the rooms, but the fire stick worked great. It is 100 years old, so comes with the issues associated with that.

House was very clean and spacious. We enjoyed our stay.
8.0 / 10.0
The house is a little quirky and my girls said a little creepy at night but it was very clean and comfortable. It is old and kinda fun seeing all the old switches and all the little storage closets and cubbies everywhere.
4.0 / 10.0
House was as advertised, was very quaint and clean but smells musty. Neighborhood and town of Eureka was very questionable. This Location is the hotspot for prostitutes and homeless. Very sad to see this much homelessness in the small of a town. Our family felt very unsafe every day and night. This is a very sketchy part of town even with being located on the edge of the historic downtown area. I would not recommend this house mainly because of the neighborhood.

Very unique old home in downtown. Close to many attractions you can walk to. Location is a little noisy because it’s downtown, but the house was exactly as stated. Bedrooms are charming, beds were very comfortable and sheets and towels clean.

We liked this location as it was walking distance to the marina and Old Downtown
2.0 / 10.0
The house was very roomy, nice and clean, although it was laid out kind of odd. Some of the light switches were confusing, and didn't seem to work right--but that could be expected in an old home.
We had some hiccups checking in, such as getting through the double locked gate and front door, and figuring out where we were supposed to park our car (the driveway was fenced off, so you cannot park there).
Unfortunately, there is only on-street parking, which we found out to be a bit of a problem, as there were people doing drugs behind our car, and several of the same cars kept driving around the block (over and over) for whatever reasons. It seems like all of the neighboring businesses, hotels, and apartments have high security fences, gates, keypads, and even "armed guards," according to several posted signs--but not this place.
Ultimately, our kids were very scared from all of the yelling and screaming, coming from outside, all night long. This was made worse, with the fact that there are no blinds in the dining room, front room, and most of the sitting areas.
After the first "sleepless night," we decided to walk away from the rest of the reservation, and stay somewhere else during our trip. The host wasn't any help on this, and ultimately blamed us for "not contacting the police."
Walking away turned out to be the right thing to do - as according to the local police department, there was a shooting just a few houses away, from this rental.
Naturally, we won't be back.

This house was fun to stay in with all the nooks and crannies! It was also the perfect location for the rowing event we were there to watch. My daughters want to stay here again!

Really interesting layout, well stocked kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, good heating system.
There was some activity outside at night since this is a downtown location, but it was all within reason. Walkable to many destinations in Eureka and to the water.
Would stay here again

The house was adorable and felt like I had transported back in time to my grandmothers house ♥️ I loved it!! The house was conveniently located near EVERYTHING! The house manager was accessible and friendly! We really enjoyed our stay here and hope to return soon ♥️

We loved this old house. We felt safe even when we arrived at 10 pm both nights. During the day you do see a few homeless people but California is known for it. We didn’t have any issues with our vehicle, the homeless people, or the house. We slept good, used the showers and bathrooms, and refrigerator. No issues.
We can tell there’s a roof leak but it didn’t rain when we were there. Someone patched the ceiling but they didn’t fix the roof leak. I’m assuming they know it’s a rental and the owners are not aware of this.

we spent the weekend here, its a lovely house that sleeps quite a few people. it is clean and has a lovely dining room. a modest but very clean kitchen. this is an older home and the rooms and baths are on the small side. the area does get a little busy (noisy) late night, but it tones down after a while and is manageable. the lack of off street parking kind of bothered us but we found the street parking to be safe, but i wouldnt leave anything in your car here.. jus sayin'..
The park nearby is a real treat and overall we enjoyed our stay enough to say we will be back next year.
thankyou so much for the wonderful accommodations. We will be back next year!!

Interesting, fun place to stay for a few days. All of the Vacasa hosts I communicated with were very nice and accommodating. With that said, the house is very old and requires many renovations. A few things (such as the shower curtains, sinks, some flooring, piping) are broken or falling apart. Some windows were unable to be opened for a breeze and most of the windows could use curtains for some privacy and to block out the sun in the morning. The lack of toilet paper quickly became an issue, so we had to buy some of our own and resupply the bathrooms. The water pressure was also too high in the pink shower and the cold and hot faucet were reversed in the other shower. We tried our best to help preserve the nice wooden furniture, but had to improvise with paper towels due to no coasters being available. It was nice they had some spices for us to use and a full kitchen so we could do some cooking. The stove and oven were very confusing at first and limited in functionality, but we managed to figure them out enough for our cooking and baking needs. We appreciate the stay, but quite a few unexpected compromises had to be made throughout our overall nice visit to Eureka. Thanks for listening!

I have to say that for all the places I have rented over the years I am most dissatisfied with this house for the price. The washer doesn't work on cold water. There are adult games in the sitting room. The curtain in the common shower does not go far enough around to properly contain the spray. There is a cable box but no cable subscription. The disk drying rack was stored on the floor so we didn't use it. And there are homeless sleeping on the porch. There are people smoking crack in front and on 3rd st. I have young daughters and did not like feeling that it might be dangerous. We saw on multiple occasions people smoking crack directly in front or on the front walk of the property and on the side yard. The idea of standing outside on the porch was completely out of the question. When we arrived the front porch had a blanket on it and toilet paper on the steps and trash on the walkway up to the property. The smell of Clorox and pine-sol was so prominent that the only conclusion is that they had to wash away the smell of urine. I have pictures of the porch and video of the person smoking crack and then acting strange and rummaging through the recycle bin. After seeing that I tried to find another location to stay but nothing was available on such short notice. The character of the house is wonderful however it is not family friendly. Great for a business meeting or a bachelor party

Charming
Old and historical, across the street from The Carson Mansion. Definitely does not have all the conveniences of a more modern home, but that is traded by charm.

Great House, Great Location, Iffy Neighborhood
This is a really cool, funky house with a lot of character and pretty good space for a gathering.
Pluses are: great location for access to Old Town, great beds and bedding, nice rooms with awesome natural light, well-stocked linens and towels.
Minuses: the alarm was broken; no outdoor space/patio to hang out on; mixed bag neighborhood -- interesting homes and shops, but also a (non-threatening) transient population in the immediate area. Maybe not the best neighborhood for nighttime strolls alone or for folks with kids. That said, we never felt unsafe and we had a great time at the house.

The property was clean and accurately described. The properth staff were attentive and helpful. The neighborhood is a bit transient with homeless and questionable activity but the house was comfortable.

The house is wonderful, it’s just time for a little TLC to maintain its beauty.
Love the house it just needs some love and upkeep. The neighborhood is rough, so many homeless. Don’t leave anything in your car! Bring a sound machiene for sleep.... windows are beautiful but due to age of home they are single panel so when the homeless argue at night you hear it all. No dishwasher and the kitchen isn’t stocked real well so just pre plan! With all that said we still enjoyed the stay.

This is a great, old home with lots of character. I lived in Eureka for years and renting a home with a view of Carson Mansion was so nostalgic. It’s walking distance from Old Town, which was very convenient. It was well stocked and comfortably housed 8 of us plus a big group of friends for a dinner party one night.

Shabby
This property is old and shabby. It is in a bad neighborhood. Homeless and druggies all around. Spiders in the bed. The place really needs to be go through and refurbished. The place needs to have security or the police need to clear out the riff raff. Could be really nice with some love and care along with police presence or security.

Wonderful Home!
We had a lovely time in this amazing house. It was a throwback to a time when things were simpler but with modern amenities. The beds are excellent and it was the best sleep we have had in a long time. We were a family of 4, and it was a lot of space for us. Can easily accommodate the 9 adults they advertise.

DON'T STAY HERE
We would encourage VRBO to remove this property from its listings. This property is located in dangerous area as we evidenced at least fourteen homeless people surrounding the property, some drinking at the curb at front and on the side of the house. We discovered used toilet paper on the side of the property and a hypodermic needle cover on the porch. There were also signs of drug activity by the property. With nowhere to park except on street by property we did not feel safe for our vehicle property or personal safety. After fifteen minutes on site our group elected to find accommodations elsewhere and have requested a refund.

Campton house
Lacked kitchen plates, bowls etc. Really pushing it on sleeps 9.
The pull out couch ok for one but the "futon" is stretching it. They were 2 chairs that laid back with very uncomfortable pleather cushion and no bed covering. A bit misleading. It really is 6 sleeper house.

Comfortable, home, easy access to downtown and HSU. Property Managment Company additional contract a bit intimidating. Thought their policy of charging $15 for each 15 minute that one exceeded the designated checkout annoying

WE HAD FUN STAYING AT THE CABIN INSPITE THE POWER OUTAGE. IN FACT THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR STAY WAS STAYING AROUND THE FIREPLACE IN THE DARK. WITHOUT THE FIRE, OUR STAY WOULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER.

Fun old house
We rented this house while visiting our daughter, there were 9 of us and we were very comfortable. The house is older so the floor squeaks, that's to be expected. The kids had a blast playing hide and seek with the various stairs. If you have a problem with stairs this might not be the house for you. There are a lot of homeless that are about so make sure you keep your car locked and valuables aren't visible. Wish there was a curtain on the window in the ensuite bathroom.

Beautiful Weekend for a Wedding
We came into town to celebrate the marriage of our daughter and this was the PERFECT house. It ended up being the central hangout for the entire family, siblings, grandkids and elders. The dining room worked great with it's natural light for the makeup artist and hair stylist. The front room with it's huge table was a blessing for all to gather around to visit, drink, eat and watch grands play in the adjoining room. Bedrooms were plenty big enough, the brides sister and family stayed in the Davis room with their own private bath which was great for their little one. Location, location, location . . . other family members stayed close by and the wedding was at the Wharfinger Building just down the road, super close. All in all wonderful accommodations, very clean, plenty of dishes/glasses and great location. We would HIGHLY recommend to anyone.
