This is a wonderful location near the Causeway and access to the lake while very quiet neighborhood. The property was clean and ready for use. The smaller bedroom has an awkward access to the bathroom limiting privacy. Great for a couple.

We enjoyed our location next to the lake, every thing as advertised

The location is excellent, especially if you are biking in the area.
For 2 people the house size is perfect. The decor is a bit eclectic. The owner was very responsive.

The cottage was perfect for our bike trip, the trail was accessible from the cottage.
The decor inside the cottage was awesome and we enjoyed our stay.

Let me start by saying that this cabin is perfectly fine and a very good price. The location is very convenient to the bike trail, although the path to the lake & kayaks is pretty treacherous. They do not charge a “cleaning fee”, so I can forgive the dead bugs in all the windows and the overgrown garden.
My major issues with this listing are the inaccuracies.
Most importantly, this is NOT a true 2 bedroom. The second bedroom is actually a den with the only access to the only bathroom. They put glass doors (no curtain) on the entry and called it a bedroom. This meant that the “bedroom” had ZERO privacy. For some groups, this would work. It did not work for us.
Other mis-advertised Amenities:
Washer – actually a laundromat 7 minutes away
AC – only in the primary bedroom.
Deck/patio – just a fire pit in the grass

The owner seems nice ,but theCabin was in need of cleaning there were dust bunnies in most of the corners . The bathroom smelled of urine ,Not unbearable but noticeable. The location is EXCELLENT !

I had a great experience at this property! It was the perfect place to watch the eclipse, and made a a great home base. I was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the kitchen was, as far as dining ware and cookware goes. We needed to call Albert to turn up the heat, but he arrived promptly and was very pleasant to interact with. We loved the decor of the place, and would love to return if we find ourselves in the neighborhood again.

We had traveled to the area, in hopes of seeing the Northern Lights. We read that Mallets Bay was a top location, due to minimal light pollution. It was a dark new moon weekend, but overcast and there didn't seem to be any actual solar activity. There was also much more light pollution than we expected. That said, we enjoyed our weekend in the Burlington area and might return to this property for kayaking & summer activities. It is a -frills home, but was spotlessly clean and comfy. The heater was noisy, so we closed the bed room door. This made the bedroom cool, but the comforter and bed were very comfortable. Our only beef was that the guitar was out of tune and a picture was crooked ;-) . Enjoy!

The location is perfect. The house had all the necessary essentials. Good size.Use of the owners kayaks are a blessing … we biked the Causway from right outside our door to Burlington! Great for the price! I have stayed on Lake Champlain several times. Love it

Glorious time of year to be in Mallets Bay!!

We had to cancel at the last minute and Albert handled it with his usual friendliness and professionalism. We missed staying at his wonderful cottage and hope to be back next year.

Well equiped house in a very quiet environment. It is not the most modern house in the life but it was ok. The only negative comment we have is that we were annoyed by the droplets falling from the roof on the air conditionner outside the bedroom (please do something) all night long (it rained a little in the evening). Otherwise it was perfect.

Generally a quite good stay. Never really got the ants under control in the kitchen. Good prep a challenge.
Vegetation a little overgrown.

Charming cabin just across small road to Lake Champlain. Pleasant spot, though minimal direct view of lake, due to early summer foliage. Nice firepit and Adirondack chairs alongside firepit. Ck in was a little awkward, as it was chilly, and owner had set gas heater on 64 degrees. Intro note at property requested tenants Not adjust temp, so we called owner. He came over and turned up heat. HOWEVER, the obviously old gas heater was Very noisy. So much so that it was impossible to listen to music. Called owner back. His solution -- frankly, after a bit of shoulder shrugging -- was to fetch a plug-in radiator from another of his properties next door. That, along with ceiling fan, worked okay...though we sometimes also needed gas oven on cold mornings. The oven definitely needed cleaning, however, so had to leave on fan and slightly open a few windows to minimize oven odors. Bottom line: cabin Definitely needs a heater upgrade.
Advertised access to canoe/kayak wasn't completely accurate, as they were positioned on a rack, alongside a 5-6 ft high rock ledge, adjacent the lakeshore. There was narrow metal stairway leading down the ledge to the water. It would seem that using the kayak/canoe would require somehow lowering down the stairs? In our view, that would be a cumbersome job, even for 2 people. Other than the above, the property was charming and comfortable.

A great place to stay with lake access and access to the Colchester Causeway. Albert is responsive and helped us out, a relaxing and restful place to stay.

The cottage was clean and comfortable. Easy access to Burlington. Great for a short visit to the area. Highly recommend it.

Quiet neighborhood a short drive from Burlington, right by the not-to-be-missed bike/walk causeway, and steps from a rocky beach on Lake Champlain. Two kayaks, fun, funky decor. Good wireless and kitchen tools and appliances. On the not-so-plus side, there was a persistent musty/cigarette smell that was worse when the AC unit was on, and the floors in two of the rooms are significantly unlevel.

Mallet Bay house
We have been renting houses through VBRO for many years. The houses have always been exceptionally clean and well maintained. So needless to say, we were very disappointed when we walked into the house and found it was not as clean and well maintained, as we expected a rental to be.
My husband did enjoy playing the guitar and the keyboard, that was a plus for him.

Quick Stay
Nice little cabin type place. Very close to Lake and causeway for a walk or bike ride. Clean. Owner communication good. Nice quiet stay. Close to Burlington.

Disappointed
The whole house is leaning. There was a cold breeze. Enough to blow the curtains. The head of the bed was facing downhill and the mattress was old and hard. The heater was old and very noisy. Like sleeping on an airplane in a window seat.We could not stay there for the second night , but still paid for it . Was a waste of money. It specifically says no refunds. They rated it 4.5 stars. I really expected more. It has a large frozen front porch I’m sure would be very nice in the summer. Faces the lake.

Great Spot!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Albert's place. It was very clean, and well-stocked from the kitchen, to the bedroom and bathroom. The location (steps from the Colchester Causeway and bike path into Burlington) was perfect. We did have one small issue with the house that Albert took care of pronto. Great house with a great owner, I highly recommend this property.

Quiet setting near lake
Nice, quiet setting near the lake. Was very relaxing and close to the water access and causeway. Wish we could have found bikes to rent to ride since it was so close. Maybe next time. House had everything we needed for our stay. Thank you!

Beautiful getaway!
We brought bikes and we're so excited to ride to Burlington along Lake Champlain! The bed was comfy, and the were sheets and towels, unlike the description...a treat! Tiny shower, and quirky fun furnishings. Wish there was availability for us to return this summer to light a fire in the firepit, try it the kayaks, and return.

Quirky
Cute place and very clean. I was under the impression that we had to bring our own sheets and towels which we did from Atlanta. When we arrived all of that was there so I wasn’t sure if I had misread the information. We only stayed at the house at night time and didn’t use the kitchen. I came to the house by myself one night and there was a strange car parked on the lawn. Little unnerving. Overall good hot water and the bed was comfy.

Great location for Bike Ride
We came early in season so it was chilly and rainy. Not the best weather for Lake Champlain. But house location was 2 doors down from Bike Trail so we had nice rides to Burlington, out over causeway, and around Grand Isle.
I forgot to check and bike ferry to cross gap in bike causeway was not running this early in season. Check your dates.
Owner was very responsive and responded quickly to 2-3 requests we made.
House would also be great location for kayakers.

Great Little Getaway
Loved the location! The house was perfect for us and enjoyed being SO close to the causeway. The hosts supplied things we didn't expect like shampoo/conditioner/soap/pots/pans/etc. So that was a nice surprise . We thought we would have to eat out every-night but was able to save some $ and eat in and cook. Nice porch and really was relaxing. Very quiet area which we really appreciated. If you love to bike, then this a perfect place to vacation. We were able to bring our bikes in at night which was important to us that they were secure. Every one is nice and friendly. Very clean but if I had to say one negative it would be that the shower curtain was......big time over due for replacement. Overall, we would come back again .

Clean and comfy
Albert was welcoming and friendly. He made sure we had what we needed. Bathroom is like a closet but we managed. Would be nice to have curtains on french doors so second bedroom has some privacy. House was very clean and met our needs. We could have had a great view of the lake but trees and underbrush hit it.

Great stay with a little bit of dirt
Our overall stay was "Great". We enjoyed the location, the area and the house. We found everything we needed close by. There was plenty of places to eat,a grocery store.pharmacy, and a four screen drive in thearter close by. The house had everything we needed in it.The kitchen was stocked with dishes, utensiles, and pots and pans for cooking. There was TV,a great porch, and access to the Causeway. The problems that we had and they are few are 1) the grass was not mowed and a little high. 2) there was a glob of grass that looks it came from the bottom of a mower that was right in our walking path.3) the front door to the porch was warped and did not close properly.4) Many of the windows needed to be cleaned from dirt, spider webs, and mold. These problems are simple to fix and when they are I would rate this place 5 stars. As of now I give this place 4stars. Would I come back to this same place? YES
