About this apartment rental

Great Slave Lakeside B&B is a waterfront bed and breakfast located in the heart of Yellowknife's Old Town. Situated directly on Great Slave Lake, the studio suite is self contained, includes a private entrance and is ideal for a couple, 2 adults, 3 adults or young family of four. The suite offers lovely lake views and the beautiful Aurora Borealis. Backyard wildlife are common and include magpies, ravens, squirrels, muskrat & sometimes even marten and fox.

The private B&B studio suite is modern and bright with newly painted walls and beautiful hardwood floors. The suite is made up of three rooms: one large room that houses a king sized bed, queen sized sofa bed and living area. The kitchenette has a bar sized fridge/freezer, induction plates, toaster oven and microwave. Self-serve coffee and tea are provided in the unit as well as continental cold breakfast options for your enjoyment. The private bathroom has a claw foot tub and separate shower.

A west facing deck and sitting area allow for a beautiful midnight sun experience.

All amenities including linens, towels and bathroom toiletries are provided. Free WIFI is available and laundry facilities are available if needed (just ask).

Great Slave Lakeside B&B is very near to some of Yellowknife’s best restaurants and shops. For instance, a 10 minute walk will get you to Bullock’s Bistro, a unique restaurant that is famous for its Great Slave Lake fish and Weaver & Devore Trading Co. which has a great selection of winter gear including Canada Goose parkas. Also nearby, is the NWT Brewing Company which serves pub food and locally brewed beer. Down to Earth Gallery, which is next door to the brew pub, features beautiful jewelry, arts and crafts made by local artisans. Old Town Glassworks is a cooperative where you can learn to sandblast recycled glass and make your own unique souvenir gift whereas Just Furs features beautiful northern furs such as mink, beaver and rabbit; both are very close to our home. The Old Town is also very well-known for its colorful houseboat community and Pilot’s Monument which offers views of the city skyline, Great Slave Lake and northern landscape. In the summer, you can watch the float planes while dining on the deck of the Wildcat Café, Yellowknife’s first and most iconic restaurants in the North. In the winter, you can enjoy the Northern Lights and a dog sled ride from one of the local tour companies. Downtown Yellowknife is about a 10 minute drive or 25 minute walk and offers many other shops and restaurants.
We have wanted to open a B&B for some time. Blair and I were both born and raised in Yellowknife and sharing our community with others just feels natural. We have two children. We all enjoy spending time outdoors whether we are camping, fishing (summer and winter), snowmobiling, hiking, boating and swimming. The B&B suite is on the main floor of our home. We have included many activity and attraction brochures as part of our welcome package which you can read at your leisure or talk to one of us - we can answer your questions and give you some ideas of what to do while visiting. If you need anything during your stay, you can just ask as we are only moments away.

We had a wonderful visit to Yellowknife. Highlights included Andrea's extremely comfortable B&B and her great suggestions on things to do, kicksledding, the Heritage Center, dinner at Bullocks as well as Fishy People, and seeing our first Aurora with Joe from North Star Adventures with wind chills of -42°C. But most amazing was seeing the Aurora off the dock on our last night in Yellowknife. A magnificent and never ending display! We will return in warmer weather!

Unfortunately due to airline cancellation due to ice on the runway, we didn’t get to enjoy this stay. But the communication from the host and the empathy we received, after the disappointment of missing out not just this trip, but the planned one before covid was greatly appreciated. If your looking for a magical place to stay in the NT, consider this high on your list.

Amazing Hospitality!
Amazing Hospitality!
My boyfriend and I changed our flights to stay at the incredible spot based on a recommendation from a friend. The private dock and amazing hospitality made the entire experience! Andrea and Blair were great communicators who were abundantly generous! They lent us their kayaks and bicycles, offered up their fire pit/wood, and even had their son drive us to the airport on our way out. The suite was gorgeous and very clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the clawfoot tub was icing on the cake! 12/10 would recommend!!
