Highly enjoyed our stay in the Gun Room at Ten Bits! This hidden gem is truly a mix of convenience and comfort. It is in the perfect spot where you are away from the main road but still feel like you are part of a community. We used the kitchen many times as it is an amazing space! The spot to grill is also very cool! We tried out the shooting range which isn’t far from the main property. Ten Bits is the perfect getaway especially if it’s your first time visiting big bend. The National Park and cute, quaint ghost town are both short drives.making it perfect for your itinerary. Hope to be back soon! 10/10!!

My husband and I loved the theme of the room and the view from our place (we stayed in Guns)! The only downside was that there was moldy muffins in the cantina, but we didn’t eat there other than that so it was fine. Also a heads up that it’s about a ten minute drive on a dirt/gravel road so if you have a sedan like we do, you’ll have to drive slowly!

Good concept for property. Mattresses uncomfortable. Shooting range noted in description not easily accessible.

We had an amazing time. The stars where so bright. We'll be back in the winter

We were in the gunshot. The casita was within a few steps. The stove pipe mountains were very cool. The sprawling desert valley to the west. Great sunset and very dark sky. Off the grid so there are rules for electricity and water but we were comfortable in the 100 + daylight hours. Cool evenings and morning. We turned off the AC and open door. Nice breeze.
We had one blind that worked but need repair. Also the fridge and freezer need to have a system for clearing. There were two guests (we are one) but all three unit had stuff. Leftover stuff. No markings. I suggest guests are encouraged to mark all with room # and if not they get sorted daily. But that’s not a big deal. Had a wonderful two nights. Next time we will ask for the blacksmith.

We stayed in the Gun Shop. Some nice guns hung on the wall inside, as well as on the porch. It was too hot while we were there to use the fire place or the fire pit in the middle of town, but would have been nice if needed.
Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the ranch. On our last day when we were packing up, we had some stuff sitting on the porch, and some inquisitive road runners came on the porch to check out what was different. That was awesome. And on multiple occasions of sitting on the porch, rock wrens would land on the rail and say Hi.
The cantina was well equipped to make any meal you like, just bring the food. Breakfast is provided.
Not sure if you are allowed to or not, but maybe putting a sign where you come through the gate off of 118 to N County road saying 10 Bits ahead would be helpful.
Enjoyed taking my ATV down the county road. Lots of nice landscape around the ranch to see. I just wish I could have figured out where the connection was to S County Road so I could have rode all the way to Terlingua.
Totally recommend this place to anyone that wants to get away. The ranch does not control this, but the county road leading to the ranch can be rough, but the county scraped it while we were there and it made a big difference. I heard from a local that the road has come a long way so it will probaby improve more over time.
Make sure to bring your hiking boots to go see the indian cave. Great view of the ranch and surrounding areas from up there.

Very unique property. Beautiful views, quiet setting.
Road into property is gravel and rough, but it is being repaired. The only other issue was the shower was not cleaned very well.

Staying at the “Gun Shop” was a fun and enjoyable experience. We liked the laid back atmosphere of the cantina, where guests could make their own meals and share experiences.

What a fantastic property! We loved everything about it. Such a unique place with great atmosphere, great remote location and comfortable accommodations. Everything was clean, well maintained and well equipped. We stayed in the Gun Shop which does have the adjoining room, but it was well insulated from the neighboring room and we never heard anything. It is remote and the closest town does not have a lot for groceries so I recommend bringing food if you plan to cook at the ranch. I wish we could have stayed longer and hope we get a chance to come back. Thank you!

Fun place! quite a drive out of town but worth it. Wish it had a better breakfast...white bagels, wonder bread and cereal are not our usual but big kitchen to make your own meals, which we did.

True feeling of an old desert town.
Cabin was okay.
Getting there not easy…. Dirt road.

It was great except dirt road in.

We enjoyed our stay. Ten Bits was centrally located between the National and State Park, so we got the pleasure of hiking both. Not yo mention the beautiful hiking we got to do on the property.
The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed.
The Catina was extremely well stocked and very clean. We ate breakfast and had dinners in the Catina.
We suggest spending time outside and sitting around the bonfire. We met some new friends and got to see the beautiful sky lit up.
The owners were easy to communicate with and the easiset check in process we've experienced.
We will be back and next time going to stay in one of the other cabins to get a new experience.
The online description was very accurate.
Thank you Cowboy and Sis for sharing your beautiful property with us.

This place is very special, just off the main highway, you feel like you have gone back in time.

Great location. Unique landscape. Our cabins view was obstructed, faced another cabin. Cleanliness of cabin was an issue. Mold growing in shower, towels were sour, bedspread appeared dirty.

Not that far off the grid or the hiway, but very quiet. And gorgeous surroundings. We were lucky for two cloudless nights during the Geminid meteor shower! This was exactly what we were looking for on this visit to BB. The added benefit of some lively conversations around the fire ring was a highlight of the stay.

If you want to experience the total off grid experience in extremely nice rooms then Ten Bits is for you. It is rustic, looks like a small "old west mining town," and very remote. Although you are "out in the boonies" they have WiFi, a very nice communal kitchen, and acres of wilderness for hiking. The sunsets from our porch were spectacular! I very highly recommend XB, but they are about 2 miles of rough caliche road from the highway. I would suggest a 4x4 with good ground clearance, and bring plenty of water and food. If I live long enough we will be back!

Ten Bits is an incredible place. Very unique experience and very accommodating. Beautiful scenery an awesome rustic atmosphere. Communication was excellent. Highly recommend.

This was an amazing replica of an old western town. The room was clean and decorated marvelously. We loved the joint Cantina where we dined alone and with an others. We hiked the hillside and my husband dubbed a spot Window Rock due to the square hole through it. We will recommend and be back ourselves the next time we come south. Thank you XBits. Wonderful job.

A different type of rental. Definitely off the main road. Cabins are nice. It is like staying in an old western town. Quiet area. Nothing around you. Not what we are used to, but very enjoyable. Would stay here again.

This little ranch out in Terlingua is such a beautiful respite from the hustle of any city-dweller’s day to day. The drive in from the main road is long enough that you can’t here traffic from the highway. The sunsets are picturesque and the offerings are plenty! We felt very taken care of and in the know. For those venturing to Big Bend, the juicy parts of the park (visitor centers and hikes) are about an hour and 15 minutes away but the drive is beautiful and easy. I highly recommend this spot for groups trying to get a few cabins together or any solo travelers that love a communal spot to stay. The kitchen and common areas are well put together and it’s easy to get alone time or interact with others staying there. Loved it!!

I absolutely love getting out to Sis and Cowboy's place. This off grid location is the perfect setting to disconnect and just look up at night and spend the day discovering or going to Big Bend. The rooms are perfect and being in the middle of the desert, they have done phenomenal job of not taking away from the natural beauty of the desert while also making it feel like you're in an old western town.

Ten Bits is incredibly well managed and beautiful. If you are looking for a place to disconnect and get off grid, and still have a comfy place to sleep and stay cool, then this is a great place. As always the house was very clean and had all I needed from a small fridge, microwave, satellite TV, and internet. Always leave happy and feeling refreshed after spending the nights with amazing views and the sky both day and night. Very happy and highly recommend

The pictures on the Internet looked great! IT"S NOT, what you see in person. The place we stayed Gun Shop (Room #3) was DIRTY!! The bathroom shower had BLACK MOLD in it. The floors in both the bed area & bathroom were soiled and needed to be cleaned. There was something on the bathroom door that needed to be cleaned off that another group had left. GROSS!
We NEVER heard or saw any property manager,
My suggestion would be to have a real live person there to greet you, rather then a written manual to read. Do a general housekeeping!!

We enjoyed everything about this property. The pictures in the listing are very accurate. The shared kitchen was so nice. We were able to cook a hot breakfast and weren’t in the way of other guests. The cabin was perfect for the two of us. The water in the cabin is not potable but the owners had plenty of bottled water for us to use. The road to get to the ranch is rough and is made for high clearance vehicles. I’m sure a regular car could get through but definitely drive slow because of the big rocks and rugged terrain. A strong storm rolled in Saturday night but we had no issues with power outages because everything on the ranch is ran by solar panels and generators. It was nice to sit on the covered porch and watch the storm come in over the mountains. We had a campfire and roasted marshmallows and enjoyed the dark desert skies. The Wifi was a bit choppy but we were still able to get an ok signal. The ranch is off the grid so they operate with well water and rain water. We had a bit of an issue with the water in our cabin and in the cantina on our last night but maintenance quickly corrected the problem. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to disconnect from reality for a little while.

This place is beautiful. Property is beautiful. The hair didn’t send me the code so thankfully, some other tenants were able to help me get in contact with the host for my code since I had no service. There were some fleas in the shower and on the bed. disappointed for how expensive the rooms were. One unoccupied room had every light on and a massive window with no blinds, so it was frustrating when we tried to e since it ruined the darkness a bit. Besides that, it was a nice stay

We visited for one night in The Gun Shop. The room was great and we loved sitting out at might looking at the stars. The entire setup is si cute and well thought out. When we can stay again, we would choose a room in a cabin with only one room. The sound carries just a bit between the two atrached rooms.
The hosts have thought of so many things to make the place special and hVe hone above and beyond what was needed or done at other places we've seen in the area.

We met a few of the other guests and enjoyed spending time with them. This would be a great place for a small family reunion.

Great location and ambiance with the western theme. Surrounded by rock formations and had a beautiful night sky. Clean place and the hosts were very responsive and accommodating. Best to arrive when you have some daylight since lights on the property are minimized to enjoy the night sky.
5.0
Unique, comfortable, remote. Had everything needed plus pet friendly. Water was not potable but bottled water was provided. The night sky was awesome. The Gunshop cabin was really cute. Only suggestion is that the ceiling fan should be able to run with the light off but it didn’t.
5.0
Roomy cabin and convenient self-serve cantina. Close to Big Bend and Terlingua. Cloudy skies and high winds kept us from seeing stars and having a fire. Next time!

We had a great time at this property! The location and feel was exactly what we needed for a weekend away.

This was an experience in itself. Absolutely loved this place. Almost magical in a western sense. We stayed in the Gun Shop. Loved it. Cozy. The fireplace just makes the room. Loved that the windows open. The decor was so perfect. The con side would be checking in we did not get our code. This could have been a simple issue of email and connections. A very nice lady staying there helped us with that issue. No real big deal in the whole scheme of things. The other would be the shower water was just barely warm. My husband was almost cold. Very short showers too. No excessive time in there at all. Again this would not stop me from staying here again. The kitchen for everyone was amazing as well and stocked with the basics for a light continental type breakfast. Also with a fireplace. The photos ops just made me happy. They did this place up right and looks like they are adding on to the little western town. Would absolutely recommend staying here. Ps the drive in after rain is a bit slippery and it is quite a ways off the main road. Again this was all part of the experience. You need to go here!!!!!
