About this house rental
This beautiful, clean and cosy 1BR apartment is located right on the Main Street in Kinnitty Village at the foot of the Slieve Blooms. You have biking/walking trails, the church, Kinnitty Castle, 2 shoppes, a cafe, and 2 pubs all within a very short walk. Kinnitty itself is an ideal location in between Dublin and Galway, making it very accessible if you’re touring Ireland by car.
Kinnitty Village is a beautiful little village at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains in Co. Offaly. It’s very centrally location as it is just over an hour to Galway, Dublin, or Limerick. Also in less than an hour you can be in major towns such as Carlow, Portlaoise, Athlone and Kilkenny. Even closer again, in less than 30 minutes distance from Kinnitty we have major towns Tullamore (Tullamore Dew) Roscrea, and Birr.
With all of this around you, you’re still in the tranquility at the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. For the outdoor enthusiast there is a great variety of walking trails. Looped trails, Kinnitty Castle Loop, Glinsk Castle and Glenregan can be accessed from the trailhead at Kinnitty Forest trailhead on the Mountrath Road. There are two eco walks near the village at Glenafelly and Knockbarron. The long distance Slieve Bloom Way can be accessed from the trailhead at Kinnitty forest. The Slieve Bloom routes through Glendine and the Cut have increased in popularity with road cyclists over the years.
The gentle rolling hills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains rise from the central plains of Ireland, forming a natural link between the counties of Laois and of Offaly. The area is picturesque, peaceful, gloriously multi-coloured and one of the least explored in Ireland. Dotted around the mountains are quaint little villages, and to visit one is like stepping back in time to an era when life moved at a slower pace. These are the places where people will take the time to talk to you, will listen to your stories and enjoy telling you theirs. According to the locals the Slieve Bloom have everything, except the sea!
The Slieve Bloom are easily accessible from all corners of Ireland. However, as well as being a wonderful destination in their own right, their central location makes the area an ideal base for visitors wishing to make trips to other parts of Ireland.
The Slieve Bloom, along with the Massif Central in France, are the oldest mountains in Europe; they were once also the highest at 3,700m. Weathering has reduced them to 527m. On a clear day, one can see the high points of the four ancient provinces of Ireland.
Hike the Irish wilderness, Horse ride off the beaten track, Mountain bike Ireland’s most challenging routes, Golf the scenic countryside.

Was a great few days to get away, and this house was a lovely base of operations. It's in a great location in Kinnitty village, was clean and well-equipped, and suited us very well. I also appreciated the binder full of things to do in the area.
