The resort was overall okay. The hotel is safe, clean, and staffed by friendly people. The bars are plentiful and the drinks are made well. The WiFi is fast and stable.
ELITE CLUB
The elite club offers nice perks like a special breakfast, restaurant & bar, pool amenities, etc. so I recommend this upgrade.
HOTEL GROUNDS
It is also very buggy so prepare to fight with bugs while you’re eating which is pretty gross but not uncommon in tropical environments. The beach is also not really walkable or swimmable.
FOOD
The food and dining experience is not good here, it’s actually the worst resort food I’ve ever had. The buffet food is never hot, it’s either warm or cold which is frustrating. The buffet food is also not accurately labeled so if you have food allergies this can be a very dangerous situation. The Bangalore restaurant has subpar Indian food, the Steakhouse is unimpressive, the Krystal restaurant has horrendous service and yucky soggy dishes. Reservations run out very quickly on the app so you’ll need to work with the front desk staff to actually secure one. I spent a lot time being hungry on this trip.

The food court. It was amazing. So many different types of food and it was very tasty. Nothing was cold nothing was dry because they refreshed the food often. Cocktails were ok. They have their own run that they make at the hotel and it’s delicious. It’s not available everyday though.
The rooms are great. You can tell they are new and for this price it’s more than you can expect. There are adapters everywhere and usb and usbc ports in the wall. You get a free minibar. You can take everything with you to your room - the cocktails from the bar, the food, friuts everything and there is no fus about it. There is coffee bar all day long.
The beach. It’s reeeeeealy bad compared to the ones near it.. like tragic. Nobody even tries to swim there. It’s not a big problem though because next to RIU there are 3 AMAZING hotels. The Marriott, Lux and beacomber. They all have breathtaking beaches and they are just a short walk along the beach away. The wind at RIU somehow is very strong, the waves are big and once you walk 10-30min to the other hotels the sea is smooth and the wind is like a warm breeze. RIU s beach has no atoll and the other hotels do and that’s why you’re able to snorkel there and swim without worries.
The design of the hotel is well.. “nothing to write home about” is a good way to put it. No fresh fruit juice. No juices at lunch and diner. Just wine water and coke/sprite/fanta.

Almost everything. Recently renovated, staff were very friendly and helpful! Amazing people and staff. It was an amazing hotel!!!! we had such a great time in this resort!
There is only one but major flaw. Booking restaurants for dinner is through the app and this was almost impossible to do (or the app was buggy). We were told that the bookings for restaurants open 48 hours before, we only manage to book 1 restaurant and the other was requested through reception (after complaining about 3/4 times about the app) we refreshed the app at different times 12am, 9am or throughout the day and sometimes it would show availability of a restaurant that wasn’t even open for that date!
So I can only give it a 9 out of 10. Everything else was perfect.

beach, parking in front of hotel. very big area of two hotels. you can use amenities of another Riu hotel
A lot. it is a very old hotel. it needs total renovation. food is not as good as in Spanish hotels. choice was limited if you compare to other hotels. rooms are worn up. bathroom is old as hell with mould. they have put another layer of paint on the back of a bed. this paint just stuck to my back. it could be dangerous for my health. check pictures below. the gym was old. spa was closed. service was not good we asked 8 times stuff to bring as shaming kit. weather was not good very cloudy and windy

When we arrived, they tried to get a higher price as it was booked on booking.com. They said its normal , and do that with all the guests because their Currency is changing. But thats cheating, they cant do something like that! It must be their lost, not take extra fees from the guests for nothing!!!!!
Old, broken stuff in the room, nothing worked as it should work.

Hotel was great outside of the fact that it was shutting down as we stayed. Room was spacious, beach view from bed, very quiet location. Restaurant options were plentiful.
The hotel is set to close for two years which I was unaware of at booking. Pool number one was half empty and extremely dirty, decorative fountains smelled of a ton of chlorine tabs as it slowly dried out. Room was extremely musty and the air conditioning didn't work. It rained one day and our entire room was pumped with moisture to the point where our bedding and suitcase clothes felt damp to the touch.

Amazing food and staff were really friendly and helpful :) Private beach was lovely to have and the pool area too. Music entertainment was fantastic! As well as the Fusion dance group!
Very noisy at around 3.30am most mornings from loud neighbours coming back from the bar at Creole which was very frustrating.
Rooms and bathrooms could do with an update/upgrade.

Good selection of food and good services.
Our room safe was locked out. The hotel reception office could not find the master key to open the safe???!!!
This is pretty bad! How can the master key for the safe be misplaced or lost! The hotel just lost its credibility becayse of this oncident!

Overall, the hotel is nice and offers what is promised. The people working there are super professional and provide an excellent service.
The Bangalore (Indian) restaurant is the best among the 3 restaurants with different.
Amazing location, good drinks and loved the life music bands.
In our room we have certain problems with the water in the bathroom over our stay. I think this could be just a punctual issue.
The Asian restaurant, is good except the sushi that being a hotel with this reputation and I would be embarrassed to offer to the client as Asian delicatessen.
I would include more varieties of fruits & food in the breakfast.
The sport center (Kayak & Paddle surf) should provide better services, my sense was that as are included sports they are not so open to provide the services as the paid ones.

sea view, location perfect for kite surfing, very friendly service personal
rooms are quite noisy, the refrigerator had mold

Friendly front desk staff. Good location.
Rooms were dated and in need of maintenance. Issues with leaks (suspected from air conditioning unit) were encountered in the original room assignment, as well as the subsequent rooms offered when the problem was raised with the front desk. Maintenance initially advised us of a work around, but this should not be the responsibility of any paying guest. In the end, we had to move rooms three times within the first day. The room that we were finally assigned did not have the AC leak issue, but the toilet would run continuously.
In the end we were offered a complimentary spa service by the property manager for our troubles. And while we appreciate the gesture, the entire experience with the inadequacies of the rooms affected the quality of our stay.
To be clear, this isn't a complaint about maintenance issues. But rather, it seems that rooms with known maintenance issues were marketed to paying guests by RIU properties and Booking.com. Given the premiums we pay as international travellers, this is unacceptable.

I liked the friendly staff, the room view and the hotel location.
The bathroom was a bit old, but otherwise super nice room.

beautiful beach - great view of le morne mountain
- very noisy, the rooms are not sound proof and you are up late due to music droning on and wake up early due to luggage wheels making noise on the stones with people chattering on
- Floors are dangerous: they get very slippery when wet - really bad design choice
- bland food: overgrilled fish, weathered lettuce etc
- rooms are just uninviting: very bare, with a slippery stone floor and the water in the pool outside is warmer than what comes out of the shower

Bar staff were pleasant and helpful. Pool area being adults only was great. Great outdoor facilities. Nice selection of food at all inclusive restaurant. Lovely live entertainment and rum tasting. Gourmet themed restaurant was lovely, couldn't book for Asian, only operated a few nights.
I have a few negatives: 1.The most unwelcome welcome. We arrived in torrential rain, no-one came out to greet us. Off-loaded our own car, parked it the rain, luckily had our own umbrella. Report to reception to check in. We are only people in reception. Lady swiped my bank card, gave us map and said:"You are here", with a flutter of her hand in a vague direction, she says:"Your room is there...". We take our own bags and start down the passage, can't see any numbers resembling ours (1267). After about 10 minutes of roaming, found a guy from the hotel. He walks us for what feels like miles, we are still carrying our own bags. My husband, that is 65 and had 2 heart attacks, then have to carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs, no assistance from the young man. Was absolutely seething....1st impressions counts.
2.They also don't replenish the coffee and milk in the room, so couldn't make a cup of coffee when we got up to enjoy on your verandah. Besides the fact that we had to boil the kettle on the floor (no plug close to kettle). 3. They don't inform you that you have to book the themed restaurants 2 days in advance when you make the booking. We were only here for 2 nights, before going North. Felt extremely let down and disappointed.

The location and the staff are great. They changed as the room by request for another one on another floor. Everybody was very friendly and polite.
There is no room service.

The ambience was lovely, the food was very good and we really enjoyed our time there except for the final night of our stay.
On the final night of our stay there were guests in the room above ours, who argued for many hours. As a result, we were not able to get any sleep and unfortunately the staff were not able to control these guests nor remove them.

It was my dream to visit Mauritius, and my stay in Riu Le Morne surpassed all expectations!!! The location is perfect for a relaxing holiday, just next to the Le Morne mountain. My room was spectacular, with the marvelous view to the pool and ocean. The free mini bar was re-filled on a daily, and the room was super clean, towels were changed on the regular as well. With all-inclusive package, I was able to eat and drink everything on the menu and there was also the option to book a reservation in a few hotel restaurants, the food was exquisite! The beach was also amazing with so many palm trees and possibility to visit Riu Creole as well!! I also adored evening shows, live performances and karaoke nights!! You can as well go for active sports like kayaking, kite surfing and much more, everything is for you!! I bought a sim card when arrived, but the Wi-fi was incredible in all the parts of the hotel, that's such a pleasant thing ever! Lastly, the hotel staff was spectacular, they were super prompt to organize an early check in for me, which was very kind and answered all of my questions. They also helped with exchanging the currency and organizing excursions. Huge thanks to Jay, Ash and Yanyk for making my stay in Riu Le Morne unforgettable!!! I will be back soon!

The location was excellent for
kitesurfing.
Every weekend the hotel is saturated with people
who have booked special offers . Nothing wrong with that its good business but there are never enough staff to deal with this influx. It mean the restaurant becomes crowded and unhygienic . There are very long queues at reception and the covid protocols disappear.
Also we booked an all inclusive package
to include water sports. They have 4 double
kayaks for a500 room hotel! This meant we had to book 2 days in advance for a 20 minute session.
The staff in water sports area spend all day sitting looking at their phones and it doesn’t feel at all welcoming . They make you feel like they are doing you a favor just for asking a question! It also shut at 4 which means last use of equipment is at 3. .. half way through the afternoon!!! so basically we felt ripped off .

The location and the landscape is very beautiful. the staff is very friendly, the food is really good and a lot of choices. You can enter the ocean right from the beach. Good programmes every night.
The hotel is a bit old, needs a renovation. However I need to stress out that this was really a minor issue.
