About this cottage rental
Come enjoy a weekend getaway in a new bright and private carriage house loft in the mountains. This carriage house loft is for adult stays and sleeps two comfortably. The loft is located 6 miles from downtown Lexington, the home of VMI and Washington & Lee University. It is a perfect place for couples to stay during events for either school, those looking to get away to the mountains for hiking or others visiting the Virginia Horse Center. The Maury River also accommodates kayakers and canoers of all levels and there is a wide variety of restaurants and shops in downtown Lexington to choose from. Otherwise, the loft features a full kitchen for those interested in cooking their own meals with all amenities. There is shower in the bathroom and a cozy living area with a large flat screen TV that is cable enabled. WiFi is available as well as options for being off the grid such as a large fire pit and rocking chairs on the wide deck for hanging out and reading your favorite book (note, internet is good, but not super high speed). The loft has a comfortable king size bed which is situated in the sleeping nook. All 5 large windows have wooden Venetian blinds that give you control of the light day or night.
While the loft is located right off of Rt. 11 N which takes you into Lexington, it also backs up to a quiet pasture providing a nice escape and beautiful views. The carriage house loft faces east for beautiful sunrises and gets lots of natural light during the day. When you drive up, you will see the garage on the first level which is not accessible to guests. Follow the gravel path on the right side around the back and up the deck stairs to enter the loft space. The lower level garage area will be locked at all times while guests are visiting. The key to access the loft will be easily found in a lockbox to the right of the lower level side door which will be illuminated by a motion-sensored light if arriving after dark.

The carriage house is in a great location. It is a short drive to downtown Lexington where there area lot of dining options. The house is also close to Natural Bridge State Park. The house has everything you need for your stay. It was great to not have to worry about bringing coffee, creamer, sugar, toiletries and so much more. We enjoyed the fire pit too. It had everything you need to start a fire.

This is a beautiful property located near Lexington, Virginia. It is quiet and peaceful, close to the George Washington National Forest. A trip to Goshen is definitely worth it. The house was immaculate…fully furnished and even coffee was provided. The bed was fantastic—very comfortable and firm. I highly recommend this property when visiting the Shenandoah Valley. Truly outstanding.

My wife and I needed to find a spot to stay for graduation at Washington & Lee and I found this cottage online. It was a wonderful location: a very short drive to campus, perfect size for a couple and with all the amenities of home. We didn't get to use the firepit but it had plenty of wood and everything needed to get it going. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone visiting family at W&L or VMI. I well definitely book this cottage again for future reunions!

Don't let this property's proximity to Lee Highway and I-81 scare you off! This was my only concern picking this property, but it was very last minute so our options were limited. It's still a very quiet and cozy location, especially at night! Beautiful views of the stars and the pasture behind the carriage house.
I would have to say our favorite thing about the whole place was the kitchen. My girlfriend and I love to cook for each other and greatly appreciated how well-appointed it was...every cooking utensil we needed was provided!
The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was roomy with a nice big shower which is always a blessing when you're 6'5" like myself!
I personally prefer a more rustic and secluded place, but being less than 10 minutes to downtown Lexington was extremely convenient and this carriage house did not disappoint!
I also wanted to add that even though we didn't need anything from him, Joe was very helpful and checked in on us through VRBO messages here and there, but it was in no way intrusive; rather it gave us peace of mind that if anything should go wrong, Joe would be available immediately!
Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

This is such a lovely place to stay!! We were in town for a wedding and I wish we had been free to spend more time in this studio. It was cozy, fully outfitted and the bed was very comfortable! I would stay again and recommend it to anyone!! Five stars!!!

Although the property is located only a few minutes from town we appreciated the absolute privacy we felt we had on the large lot surrounded by trees and pastures. Amazing Experience
What a beautiful oasis Joe has created here. He thought of everything you would need to feel at home. We used the bbq every night after an adventurous day of hiking. Everything was new and super clean. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
