About this house rental
A private country cottage above Sheldrake Creek features open floor plan, 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a loft. Featuring vintage and "not-so-shabby chic" decor in 50 shades of green, the home sleeps a maximum of 5 guests with 2 queen size beds and a double futon. This an extremely private property with distant views of the lake and a field across the street. An 8 minute leisurely walk lands you at Sheldrake Point Winery or the local boat launch with Cayuga lake access. Enjoy a barbecue or dinner on the back deck and relax by the fire pit after dark. A fully furnished kitchen and nearby grocery, vegetable stand and farmers' markets offers you the option of preparing all your meals at home. Washer and dryer on site (some summer water restrictions may apply in case of drought as our water comes from a well.) Scenic walking, biking, boating and jogging locations abound in the immediate and nearby area, only a half hour's drive to Taughannock Falls and the Ithaca Gorges, Seneca Falls and the Women's Hall of Fame, local Amish Farm Stores, breweries and distilleries. Our location is convenient to both Cayuga and Seneca Lake Wine, Cheese, and Art Trails. Owner lives close by to assist with all your needs. NO CLEANING FEES makes this an economical choice for the savvy traveler!

We enjoyed all that Cayuga Lake offers. The house is very comfortable for 2/4 adults. It is very clean, AC was great on very warm days. Fire ring was fun in the evening

The cottage was perfect for our trip to enjoy the finger lakes region because it was centrally located. Roxanne is a terrific host, easily accessible to answer questions about the area. Sweetgrass Cottage was a great escape for us. Clean and comfortable it was in the perfect location for us to explore both Cayuga and Seneca Lake wine trails. Close to some very nice hikes we enjoyed our country getaway in the Finger Lakes.

Thus far the experience has been great. The cottage is quaint, cozy, clean and has a kitchen that carries most of what is needed. Very quiet and a great getaway if you are looking just to slow down the pace. Downstairs bed is very comfortable. TV in living room is equipped with all the apps.
The grocery store in Ovid is very meh but it is close; however, there are Wegmans stores in nearby Geneva and Auburn and they are PHENOMENAL (on par with or exceeding Heinen's in Ohio or Publix in Florida).
Not alot of sit down food options nearby; again, you may need to travel to Geneva, Trumansburg, Ithaca, Watkins Glen etc for more dine-in options. Make sure to check out the Samich shop in Ovid on 96 across from the gas station. Phenomenal meat ball subs and lunch fare.
Overall, I would rate this 5/5 thus far.

This is an excellent place to spend a week, close enough to the lake and all the naturally beautiful places Seneca County has to offer! We spent one day at Taughannock State park and one at Lodi State park, both a short drive and spent the rest of the time at Sheldrake point. The cottage itself is gorgeous, rustic and stylish. Wonderful stay, can’t wait to come back!

This sweet cottage comes with everything you need and has many thoughtful, cozy touches. We enjoyed sitting on the covered porch and being in the country yet so close to wineries. The nearby farm stand had the best peaches and vegetables. The country road was quiet and we had a peaceful stay. We will be back again!

We thoroughly enjoyed this place as our home base for exploring the Finger Lakes area. It's about 30 minutes to Ithaca, Watkins Glen, and Seneca Falls and is just up a hill from Cayuga Lake. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Quiet location was perfect for our stay. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at Sweetgrass Cottage. It was very clean, cozy and comfortable. While the cottage was closer to the roadway than we expected, it was typical for houses in the area and still private/woodsy. The cottage did have a bit of a "cabiny" aroma initially but that improved as the doors were opened and we went in and out. Be aware of the drought conditions as mentioned in the amenities portion of the description and check with Roxanne prior to renting if you must have a laundry option. Roxanne was friendly and very responsive to any communications. We would recommend Sweetgrass Cottage when visiting the Cayuga lake area.

Wonderful!
My wife and I had a great trip to the area. The cottage is well maintained, has a wonderful porch and fire pit. This was our first trip to the area and we found it to be fairly quiet in mid June. The Sheldrake Point winery has a wonderful view of the lake and O’malley’s restaurant is a short drive away. Roxanne is a wonderful host!

Lovely summer stay
Roxanne is a wonderful and responsive owner for the Sweetgrass Cottage. The cottage itself is a charming rustic cottage centrally located near Cayuga lake. We found the location ideal for our day-trips around the region from Seneca Falls to Watkins Glen. We stayed during the heat of summer and the A/C in the cottage was a welcome relief from our travels. Thank you, Roxanne.

Finger Lakes Weekend
We loved the property and the location, especially the deck. Our only comment would be to have a can of Raid for ants because we had a lot of ants in the downstairs bathroom. We would definitely recommend this cottage to others and hope to come back in the future.

Very nice and cozy cottage. One bedroom downstairs and one upstairs. Big M grocery store in Ovid had a good selection, and O'Malleys on the Lake was great with a nice view of the lake.

A lovely cabin and a perfect location
This was the perfect place for my partner and I. We were looking for a central location from which to explore the Seneca Lake area and this was it. Located between Seneca and Cayuga Lake, the cabin provides quick access to the wineries, breweries, and scenic sites.
The cabin is very clean, well-maintained, and very comfortable--particularly the beds. We enjoyed the outdoor dining area, the fire pit, and the covered front porch.
The neighborhood is very quiet. We had a couple of clear nights with great star-gazing (including the lunar eclipse).
The owner is very responsive and easy to work with.
We would definitely stay here again!!!

Charming Cottage & Great Location
This cottage is very quaint with a lot of attention to detail. It was conveniently located just outside Ovid and we easily traveled between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. The house is very quiet and the host has included all amenities including all paper goods and bottled water. Since we stayed in October, we didn't make use of the lovely deck or porch, but on a couple of warmer days, we were able to leave doors open to let the frsh air in.

Cute little cottage getaway
Sweetgrass Cottage was all that we needed it to be. For four adults visiting the Finger Lakes, this turned out to be a good centralized location. This cottage was clean & appeared loved & well taken care of. Would’ve liked a second full bathroom, but the half bathroom was probably really enough & it didn’t present any real problems. We enjoyed having breakfast out on the little deck. No issues whatsoever & Roxanne made herself available if needed.

Loved this little cottage-great outdoor space including porch, deck, and firepit. Inside adorable with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Great location close to the lake and boat launch if you bring a boat. Also very private and peaceful. We look forward to a return trip!

Cottage was nice and we enjoyed our stay. However, there were some limitations on the use of water because of the well. People should be made aware of that before they book.

We had a great time in the Finger Lakes. The house is in the perfect location for exploring the wineries and state parks. Only a short drive to Seneca Lake. Quiet and relaxing area. Great winery within walking distance. Can't wait to come back. Roxanne is a great host!

A Hidden Gem
Sweetgrass Cottage is a hidden gem. Tucked away amid cornfields and wild growing grapevines, the cottage is just the right mix between old-fashioned charm and modern comforts, coziness and enough space even on rainy days.
The place is well appointed, very clean and feels very welcoming. Great location to explore waterfalls, wineries, and more. We hope to come back!

Everything was as described. A simple, charming, tastefully decorated cottage. We enjoyed the fire pit outside which enabled us to spend an evening with friends while observing social distancing. Nice short walk to Cayuga Lake at Sheldrake point.

Perfect Getaway For Relaxation
My Husband and I enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The location was perfect, especially being in walking distance to the lake and to the Sheldrake Pointe Winery. The cottage was clean and just the right size for the two of us. We would recommend this to future guests!

Lovely week at Sweetgrass cottage
We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very private, without being too secluded. Everything is as described. Plenty of outdoor space for enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, grillIng, and sitting around the fire pit. Good location. Just note that while you can sleep 6, there is limited comfortable seating in the living room on a small sofa.

Relaxing escape
Roxanne's cottage was homey and adorable - the location was great - away from noise and light pollution, but with our rental car still a prime location for exploring multiple areas - seneca lake, cayuga, geneva, ithaca, and watkins glen. Roxanne's booklet and welcome information was accurate and descriptive - made it very easy to find everything we needed for grilling, etc. The only thing to note (which is in the description) is that the house uses well water, so we had to be very conscious of our shower lengths and had to use bottled water (provided) for cooking and drinking.

Sweet Stay at Sweetgrass
We had a lovely stay at Sweetgrass! The cottage was charming, clean, and well equipped with everything we needed. The host quickly responded to any questions we had. We had some peaceful evening meals on the back deck and the fire pit was an added bonus. The boat dock is an eight minute walk away and there are two nice restaurants with outdoor seating and a lake view minutes away. Very convenient to get to Ithaca and Seneca Lake.

Great place to be for a quiet, relaxing time away. Place had most everything we needed and Roxanne was right there to help us with what we needed. We like to cook so it was great to have a farm stand to walk to and the farmers market in Trumansburg was great.
