About this house rental

Relax and spread out in this beautifully-appointed, comfortable, modern home, with three distinct levels. Located at the foot of Old Rag Mountain, in a little known paradise, the Etlan Valley, Four Fields Farm offers panoramic views from the spacious deck and almost every window, with the majesty of Old Rag front and center. From the vantage point of this charming property, overlooking fields, natural meadows, and picturesque farms, you can leave the world behind. Kick back in the lower level family room, read a good book in the hammock, cook a delicious meal in the well-appointed kitchen, share family time in the first floor great room, or head out to local wineries, breweries, fine dining, farmers markets, or historical venues. Easy walks, lawn games, and bike rides on country roads are outdoor options, too. Shenandoah National Park's border is acres away, offering great hikes to graceful waterfalls or challenging peaks, with plenty of bird and wildlife watching all around. Seek further adventures nearby: Skyline Drive, Monticello, Inn at Little Washington, Luray Caverns, adorable downtown Culpeper, and so much more! You will never want to leave.

Four Fields Farm is served by Piedmont Broadband, a local, well-respected, antenna based internet provider. They have an excellent track record by always providing quick customer service and consistent reliability, with download speeds of at least 10 Mbps and upload speeds of at least 3 Mbps. Many guests comment on consistent and reliable internet service provided by Piedmont Broadband, as well as the ability to stream various TV services and telework with confidence.

The kitchen at Four Fields Farm is spacious and well-equipped. There are plenty of pots and pans, dishes and silverware, as well as knives that are regularly sharpened. We provide towels, bed linens, paper products, coffee filters, trash bags, aluminum foil, sandwich bags, wax and parchment paper, food storage containers, simple soaps for both the bath and kitchen, and laundry facilities. There is seasoned oak firewood for the outdoor fire pit and wood stove. There is also a charcoal grill, with briquettes, chimney starter and newspaper on the lower level porch. There are recycling bins in the laundry room. We strive to provide all the basic items to manage the house.

If you want to hike, there is a variety of information in the bookcase in the foyer, including USGS topo maps, books, and every trail map published by the Shenandoah National Park in a three-ring binder. We also provide short descriptions on many of the local hiking trails, restaurants, wineries, and breweries.

We can't say enough about this beautiful property. We planned our trip so we could spend some time together as a family before dropping our daughter off to JMU. The house is beautiful, the views are spectacular. It's a very peaceful location, but also close to many breweries and wineries. We enjoyed the fenced in back yard for our dog, Neo. He was in heaven too. Doug, the proprietor, was wonderful & accessible. We can't wait to come back!!

We had the most amazing week in this home! The location is perfect for exploring the area also for escape from the rat race of daily life! We have stayed in many VRBO’s before and this was hands down the most clean, well stocked home we’ve ever stayed in! You can definitely tell that the owner cares for his home as well as wants everyone to have the best experience renting! Highly recommend!

This house was a perfect retreat for my family. Enough room that everyone, including the pets, had their own space. Every morning I would get up and drink my coffee on the porch looking at the mountains and listening to the cows moo. It was an easy drive to the park and Luray. Fire pit in the back allowed us to engage in the nostalgia of S’mores. Host is responsive and the house is well appointed. Highly recommend. We’ll be back for sure (maybe when we finally climb Old Rag.)

We rented this house for a hiking vacation. It was a beautiful house just minutes from Old Rag and other hiking trails in the Shenandoahs. The National Park entrance was about a 20 minute drive. Nice deck overlooking farmlands and hills. Well appointed rooms, well-equipped kitchen. The host was really nice and helpful. Hope to be back there soon.

Met college buddies here for a three night stay before we attended our 40th college reunion. The house was absolutely perfect for us—-clean, cozy and comfortable. We hiked both days (Rose River Trail and Old Rag Mountain Loop) and found Doug’s hiking binder to be so helpful getting us oriented to the area. He also sent a fabulous email detailing restaurants, shops and hikes. We enjoyed a delicious meal at the nearby Paddy O’s in darling Washington. We also visited The Corner Store in Sperryville, getting supplies for our hikes. They have delicious gourmet sandwiches and an impressive wine selection for such a tiny store. We cooked one night and Doug has stocked the kitchen with all the items you might need. Highly recommend Doug’s home!! Thanks for having us!

Our group of 4 adults had a fantastic stay at Four Fields. The home is warm, inviting, comfortable, clean and spacious. The windows provide a gorgeous view from anywhere in the house. Doug is an exceptional host and gave us great suggestions for hikes, food and activities in the area. There are several wonderful hikes within 10 minutes of the house, but you are also close to SNP with even more fabulous hikes and scenery. This was definitely one of our top 5 stays ever!
