About this cabin rental

Enjoy our cabin "Fox Ridge Getaway" with your family or friends. Beautiful wood cabin with open loft, immediately feel relaxed in the Amazing Great Room. This cabin really makes you feel miles away with its gorgeous views of the countryside. Lower level has a bar. Nice back deck for grilling and visiting. Sit around the campfire at night, located in the back yard. Trail close to property for walking/hiking. You will have access to lake amenities, pool and beach, with tags provided. Upstairs loft has a shower. Lower bath has a tub.

We try to supply some firewood for our guests as a perk, but it is not guaranteed. T.V. is dish network. Internet is Fiber-link (250 Mbps), usually very good, but in the rolling hills of Apple River Canyon, at times it is not, so make appropriate plans if this is a must.

The charming town of Galena only 15 miles away. Small towns in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin within a 20 minute drive. Wisconsin is only 10 miles to the north.

Apple Canyon State Park, 10 miles away. Very nice scenic views. Multiple hiking paths. Worth your visit if you like the outdoors.

Don't feel like cooking every meal. One of our favorites, Old School Saloon, Scales Mound IL, 6 miles away. Excellent pizza and sandwiches. They have a 4.8 star rating for a reason. Need delivery, Thriving Thistle Market in Apple River delivers. Their sandwiches are excellent. Pizza is good. You can dine in as well.

Wonderful little town of Shullsburg, Wisconsin. (established in 1827, one of the oldest in Wisconsin) only 13 miles to the north. The restaurants in this small town are second to none. You won't be disappointed. We love visiting this small town.

We have other hidden gems that we recommend and share with our guests upon check in, including "Gravity Hill", 12 miles to the north in Wisconsin, you will be laughing as you roll backwards, uphill???

No Smoking, No parties, no bachelor or bachelorette parties. ONE pet under 10 pounds is allowed. NO puppies or kittens. Maximum guests 8. Minimum age of primary renter is 25.

We can not lock in dates until deposit is received. Same date requests will be given to the first person securing it with a deposit. Three night stays are required during holiday weekends.

Check in is 4:00 p.m.. Check out is 11:00 a.m.

Enjoyed our time with family in this nice house. We were a little disappointed that the amenities were further away. It would be nice to have more information about location of the trails and what is permitted on them. Appreciated the firewood, snacks, and amenities that the association provides.

Very large living/dining area and kitchen. Two bathrooms which was great. Two deck areas with comfortable seating and nice large yard. Works well for family. Could be enclosed more for little children’s early bedtime. Hide a bed option in basement could help. But very nice for family! Beautiful area.

It was the perfect long weekend getaway. Perfect place for 3 families to stay comfortably and have their own spaces when needed. Short drive to Galena was a major plus!

We had a wonderful time at Fox Ridge Getaway! The cabin's spacious layout was perfect for our group, providing plenty of room to relax and spend quality time together. We especially enjoyed cozy nights watching movies by the fireplace during the rainy weather. The kitchen was well-stocked, making meal preparation a breeze, and the propane grill was great for barbecues. The host's thoughtful touches, like the extra towels for swimming and the generous amount of firewood, were greatly appreciated. We felt right at home at Fox Ridge Getaway, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

We did an early Father's Day trip. Only living 2 hours away this was a nice quick trip. We loved how rural it was and I especially enjoyed the rockers on the front porch 🙂

A very nice place. As of Dec 2023 some small improvements underway that don’t interfere. Very responsive host. Nearby lake and woods but not on the lake or in the woods. In a small neighborhood of similar homes.

Great Stay! Cozy Cabin. Nice welcome from the host of snacks and a bottle of wine. Enjoyed cooking Thanksgiving dinner here and having grandkids enjoy the loft for an overnight. Well Stocked. Great Bathtub. Nice Fireplace. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We loved the cabin! Plenty of sleeping space. The fireplace was amazing! I love a real wood burning fireplace. We didn’t end up using the outdoor firepit, but I’m sure we would have really enjoyed it! The bathtub was cute but I wish there was a way for it to be a second shower. One shower was tough with 6 women! But we made do. I would venture to say that we will be back someday! The drive to Galena is pretty quick. All in all, loved it!

We enjoyed our time at the cabin! Very cozy and comfortable. The views off the porch are amazing. We enjoyed drinking coffee out on the porch each morning. We have been coming to Apple canyon lake for years, it’s always a great time!

We love staying here for our family vacation! The location is beautiful and not far from the pool! We love the front porch, just sitting and enjoying the view. This year, the wasps were a bit of a problem, but nothing wasp spray didn't take care of. The remodeled basement was done very nice! We will definitely be coming back next year! :)

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this location and love it. While my family has a summer home in apple canyon, we are too large of a crowd to all stay in one house. This was perfect location, close to the trails so we can take the carts to and from houses. The downstairs is now complete with a tv room and separate bedroom. This was perfect for those who like it cooler than others in the house. There is also a room on the main floor which was great for my mother and didn't have to walk all the stairs. We will be coming back again, I am sure.

My family of adults and small children enjoyed our stay at the cabin. This area of Illinois is beautiful countryside all around. The veiws from the cabin were beautiful. We enjoyed the nearby Apple Canyon State Park and the included access to the pool as well. With the baby in our group we didnt access the lake, but it looked to be a well-kept lake with lots of water activites. The pool and lake access are a short 10 min drive from the cabin. The cabin itself was clean and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the firepit one night as well. Would definitely consider staying again. We didnt realize there were neighbors very close by, but they were all very quiet and we didnt really see them.

This is our second year staying here, and we just absolutely love the place. The host is very responsive, and the cabin is so inviting. This year the weather was great too so we took advantage of sitting out on the porch and playing bags in the yard. Thanks again for sharing you cabin with us. The log cabin was exactly as advertised. The beds & pillows were comfortable and the host did not skimp on towels or blankets. The kitchen had everything we needed. All instructions were clearly stated. I will not hesitate to stay at Foxridge again!
