Perhaps a little unassuming from the front … you'll want to hurry around back upon arriving … where the Lake of the Rockies gleams like a jewel reflecting the face of Mt. Herman and the Rocky Mountain foothills just a mile or two distant. You'll immediately see the paddle-boards available for guest use on the stand in the back. The hot-tub might catch your eye too … but let's save that for later!
Back inside, you'll immediately be struck by the modern design—the luxury of this place. There is quality everywhere here, and an open floor plan with an exceptional amount of glass ensures that the Colorado sunset over the Lake and the mountains, or perhaps the views of the Ospreys hunting for trout above the surface of the water—won't be missed. Monument, Colorado is located just about 20 minutes north of Colorado Springs, and about 5 minutes north of the Air Force Academy. The town is historic, quaint, welcoming and absolutely charming. There are boutique shops lining the streets, exceptional, locally-owned restaurants, bars and cafes, along with all of the necessary grocery, drug and big retail stores close by to ensure comfort and ease during your stay. There are also Colorado craft beer & cocktail tasting rooms, for a unique, Colorado entertainment experience.
Monument is also known for its exceptional access to real outdoor goodness. Trails snake throughout the town and just outside of it there's great hiking, biking, off-roading and miles and miles of open-access National Forest land. There's also the Lake!
The neighborhood surrounding Lake of the Rockies is new, as this home is, but just a few blocks from "downtown" Monument allowing you to walk to shops and dining if you'd like. The lake itself presents an inviting blue spectacle surrounded by the mountains of the Rocky Mountain front range, including Mt. Herman, at 9,000 ft, just about 2 miles to the west. There's fishing here, and of course kayaking and paddle-boarding when the season's right—a resort feel, with a laid-back, Colorado authenticity that's hard to come by.

We stayed here while our house was being renovated and really loved this house! The giant windows made the lake views even more enjoyable, especially at sunset. Our kids had a blast playing by the water and fishing as well as using the great hot tub! When the lake was busy the noise was not bad at all when the house doors were closed. The oven in this house had to be replaced but they had a large toaster oven that we were able to use as an oven. Overall a gorgeous placed and very communicative and responsive host “Hoste.”

The property was beautiful and we loved the house! There was miscommunication between the cleaning staff and management so the house wasn't cleaned when we got there. They remedied that quickly by bringing what was needed that night and they came to clean the next morning. There was compensation for this and I appreciated that!

Overall the stay was good, but there were things pointed to a bit of property neglect...like the garbage was overfulling in the garage when we got there. It smelled so much, we did not use the garage for our cars. The Hot tub despite signs saying we take a picture before and after your stay was full of sand. A chair in the kitchen area was broken. The dishwasher was disgusting. Honestly if it were my house, I would yank that out and replace. It has never been cleaned in the inside so we questioned whether or not the dishes were cleaned after running it....but with all the being said, the property was in perfect location for us to attend a wedding at the Hearth House and the view was beautiful. The layout of the house worked well for us and we were pleased to have simple things like Coffee, Laundry pods and dishwasher pods to operate. A couple tweaks and this place would be 5 stars!

Overall, this was a wonderful getaway. The home is absolutely beautiful, spacious and perfect for family. The views are relaxing. Especially from the master bedroom. I enjoyed the home so much I extended our stay after the 1st day.
The ONLY bad thing I experienced was that the trash from previous renters remained in the garage the entire length of our stay. I called several times to see if it could be removed. I am not sure if there was miscommunication or simply no one able to remove it, but it made the 3 car garage inaccessible the entire 1 week stay. Not being able to park in the garage became inconvenient when the snow rolled in.
Other than that it was perfect. We hope to return in the summer.

Additionally, the house was minimally supplied - no extra garbage bags or storage bags or other accessories commonly found in a VRBO.

This property is modern, clean and is in a very good location. We would definitely stay here again. It accommodated our group of 13 very well. There was plenty of living space, kitchen and dining space, bathrooms and bedroom space. The home is in a newer suburban style residential neighborhood, and backs to monument lake. The lake and mountains are very picturesque from the back deck and windows. The lake is accessible to the public and was fairly active during our stay with people fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, etc. The lake is just a short walk across the gravel road/parking area. The paddle boards and kayaks provided with the home were a big hit with our kids. The home is close to good shopping and dining options. It is roughly 30-75 minutes drive to most of the area attractions such as Pike’s Peak, garden of the gods, the Royal Gorge, etc. Some recommendations for the owners to improve this already great property include: making sure that light bulbs are regularly replaced (we had 6 or 7 bulbs out), additional TVs in the main living area and bedrooms for down times, local news and weather, etc. (during our stay there was just one TV, which was located in the common area on the lower level), and a blind over the window next to the front porch. There is a small window next to the front porch that looks directly into the hallway and second upper level bedroom/bathroom area. We needed to close the bedroom door at night to prevent the bedroom from being directly visible to any potential person outside on the front porch. The house is located in a very safe area, but a small blind there would provide an additional feeling of security and privacy. Overall, we would definitely stay here again.
