An Eero booster creates quite dependable wifi access. It’s sometimes necessary to restart the television or your computer a couple of times in order to wake up the Internet. Even though we pay for the highest speed cable, the internet company tends to shut it down when not in use, so just start again a couple of times and wake it up! Sometimes it needs a real kick out of bed! A smart TV offers you viewing with our WIFI on your own Netflix or Prime, etc. accounts. We have access to Fubo and a few other complementary channels. WIFI is suitable for work, so bring your laptop and stay for the week. Sunday evenings are sometimes a little slow because everyone seems to be using internet in the area. Take your lunch break with a walk to the beach or a spin on a kayak on a warm day.
Our kitchen is very usable for a little adventurous cooking even though there is no full-size stove or oven. Available are a microwave, instant hot water pot, french press, pod style coffee maker, small toaster oven, NuWave oven, mini fridge, hot pot available upon request, sandwich press, electric fry pan, NuWave oven, NuWave air fryer available upon request, NuWave burner, farm sink, and well equipped dishes and utensils. You are also welcome to use our barbecue on the nearby ground level back deck or we have a small propane barbecue that you can use on your deck if you request it. All surfaces are sanitized between visits.
There is a gas Firepit available up on request.
It often clears up enough for a sunset view at the beachere, even on cloudy days. We are in the 'Rain Shadow of the Olympics' and have approximately 72+ days more with sunshine than the greater Seattle area. Its about 5-10 degrees warmer in the winter and 5-10 degrees cooler in summer than in Seattle greater area. Take a break from the heat here for a week or month and take advantage of weekly/monthly discounts.
Eat your breakfast on the deck in warm months and enjoy the shade of the tree over the deck on warmer days. Comfy Adirondacks create a nice spot to relax.
Rhe kitchenette/sitting area has a comfy loveseat hide-a-bed. When it pulls out for bed use, it takes up most of the space of the sitting area kitchenette. The darling woodstove heats the entire cottage quite sufficiently, but there is also electric heat in the bedroom area and in the bathroom. Wood and lighting materials are provided for the fireplace and can be replenished.
Take a cool refreshing dip at our private community Madrona beach and/or experienced kayakers may borrow ours if you sign a release. They are a little further down the beach than the 1.2 block walk to get there.
Sunsets are often stellar, just take that less than five minute walk to the beach, and stay for at least half an hour after sundown for the best colors. If you don’t want to sit on the logs, just ask and we will provide some folding chairs for your use at the beach.
Hike short or longer trails in the nearby state parks.
NO PETS!! I realize that dogs are very popular around here and there are places where you can take them. Sorry, not sorry, not here- if you bring fido you will be assessed additional cleaning/ time loss fees. Our cat, Leo, the beach puppycat - (a black-brown tabby) is very friendly and thinks he wants to go into the cottage. He will come and say hello and knows he’s not supposed to go in, so please don’t let him unless you’ve made a connection and will hold him at all times while he is in there. If the windows are left open, he may let himself in. He’s happy to rub your legs, be pet and even held, but you can tell him no if that bothers you and he will leave you alone. He’ll just go find someone else. He makes his rounds in the neighborhood every day to visit everyone and follows us to the beach each day when invited. We sometimes need to carry him home because he has some health problems but he’s living his best life.
If you EVER SMOKE (or vape) ANYTHING, do not book this rental!! No need to read on except to learn that you will be charged a minimum of $600 for residual smoke smell of any kind. We lose several days and up to a week over residual smoke!
We are just an hour from Seattle during light traffic times, but longer at rush hour and/or if you come on a holiday weekend- up to twice as long! It's so worth the trip, even in traffic. You will feel your blood pressure fall when you drive onto this sweet island. We are a nice half wayish stop between Sea-Tac Aiport) (55 miles) or Paine field (24 miles) and the San Juan Islands, and Vancouver Int'l (74 miles)

Very clean & quiet little place to stay on Camano Island. Owners Sue & Ken very personable & professional. Like be in a guest house near family in beach village neighborhood.

This property is very small. It was adequate for me and my purpose of peace and quiet (except for the construction noise the first two days). The kitchen was adequate as I only brought microwaveable things. There are lots of other cooking appliances but not sure where you would plug them in. The bathroom was adequate but not pleasant. I’ve lived in third world countries so I could adapt, but not easy for basic grooming. Close to beach (about 3 blocks) but no view or sound of water. Bed was comfortable. Host was friendly and lots of communication.

This cozy cottage and peaceful environment was the perfect spot for our long weekend birthday celebration. The hosts Sue and Kenny are absolutely amazing. They are incredibly friendly and helpful and could not have been more of a joy to meet and spend time with. This property and surrounding area offered the best of both worlds...plenty of activities such as kayaking, crabbing, paddleboarding, and outdoor space for lawn games if you're feeling adventurous or playful; while you also have the option to lounge on the beach, enjoy a postcard-worthy sunset, or just hang out on the garden-surrounded patio if you want to relax. I cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our stay. This is the perfect place to either hang out or also a good jumping off point to explore nearby areas, all with stunning views. We would highly recommend and we only hope we're lucky enough to return for another visit!

The property photos and amenity descriptions are very deceiving. Photoshop artists comes to mind. They are not near the water and there is no beachfront view. The walk access as viewed in their photo series is actually a few blocks away, with no parking. No water, nor green lawn as pictured, is visible. Photo makes bedroom area seem much larger than real. Homemade rock floor in the bath area may be appealing to some but it absolutely killed our feet. In addition there is a bad ant problem inside even though we had no food out at any time. Expedia includes this property as "pet friendly" in their filters which is NOT TRUE.

What a gem of a find. I couldn’t have been more pleased. The bed was very comfortable. It’s in a very safe neighborhood. The owners who live on site are wonderful kind people who wanted to make sure I was happy. Hope I can stay again some time.

I've stayed at many vacation rental properties, and hands down, this was my favorite of all of them. I was visiting a relative in Stanwood during the most of the day and hotel options are few and far between in this area, but this was perfect. It was very peaceful and the neighborhood was quiet and if I wanted to sit on the beach to reflect or read a book when not in Stanwood, the beach was only a block or so away. The cottage is in the back of the property of the owners, who have a beautiful garden and have done a wonderful job making it really comfortable. The cottage is pretty much gated within their property so you feel really safe, and traveling alone, that was a big bonus! The owners were very hospitable and wonderful conversationalists, and I so much enjoyed their company when I would see them. If you are traveling alone or with one other person, I highly recommend staying here.

Excellent hostess. Comfortable cottage. Esoteric shower. Sue (hostess), took extra care to make our stay very memorable. Kitchen cookware was a bit challenging but doable. Close proximity to the beach made for afternoon beach exploring. Very clean abode.

I met the owner briefly when I arrived, and she explained a couple of things that would have taken a bit of time to figure out on my own. The cabin had everything that I needed, and the bed was very comfortable. Very pleasant stay.

This was such a lovely cottage. Cozy and quiet. The description is very accurate. I loved everything about my stay. The hosts were very kind. The accommodations were perfect. Everything from the sheets to the kitchen utensils were top quality. I will most definitely be booking again. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend.

Sue, the host, was very helpful and accommodating. The bed was very comfortable. We stayed for 3 nights in December. The cottage had electric heat in the bedroom which we needed to have on the highest setting to stay warm. The bathroom although it had a timed heater stayed rather cold as did the main room. There was a wood burning stove which we chose not to use. The biggest issue was the bathroom. Since the toilet and shower are in the same small space with no divider, the floor is always wet. The stones while looking good, are very uncomfortable to walk on. The slippers provided were uncomfortable so we chose not to wear them The sink in the space is very small. The water pressure in the shower was weak. The cottage may be more comfortable during other times of the year.

We loved chatting/meeting Sue and she had so much great information about the island. It was the perfect location for the wedding we attended. I only wish we had more time to enjoy the water activities she graciously offered to us. The cottage was clean and easy to feel at home in.

Overall it is a great place. The only problem is the bathroom. No door, only shower curtain.
No privacy in that matter.

Our stay on Camano Island for wedding event
This little cottage is a quirky/charming place. Camano Island is beautiful and it was peaceful and very quiet.. Enjoyed our two nights there. We were there for granddaughters wedding. We were busy with the wedding events, and by end of both days, being senior citizens, we were ready for a good night's sleep and this little cottage was especially perfect for that. The bed was soooooo comfy. Overall stay was very nice,

Short Getaway
The place is quaint, having everything I needed for my short getaway. The owner was very helpful with anything I needed and ideas of what to do on Camano Island. The place was just a couple blocks to the Puget Sound. One evening we had a beautiful sunset. Then there was the 1st storm of the year, heavy winds and rain all day. A couple power outages, sending me to bed quite early. Owner was very helpful in bring extra battery candles to light the place. She also offered to let me leave a day early and reimburse me the night. But I stayed and let the rain and wind blow.
Thanks Sue and her husband for having this place to get away from the busy city I live in.

A Sweet Suite
Sue and her husband were attentive.
* Quick to text back, they gave us suggestions for restaurants & advice on local traffic patterns - helpful to us, since we were traveling in from out of state.
* The room is decorated with eclectic touches inside & out, we loved the "All the French Your Cat Needs to Know" book & the Camano Island sign hanging just outside the front door!
* A personalized welcome sign was a nice touch, as were the brightly colored fresh flowers!
* The cozy cottage room is inventively laid out to provide privacy from the kitchen/living space to the bedroom. We used the tri-fold screen to block the glass front door for showering & evenings.
* The hand-laid stone floor covering in the wet bath is also a creative solution. I'm not a fan of wet baths (needing to dry the toilet after showering), but for the space and the handicap friendly use, it is a perfect fit!
* All good ideas to use for one's own VRBO rental now or in the future.
* The kitchenette is just as stated, perfect for local-sourced breakfasts - our smoked salmon, sour-dough, & specialty cheeses & fruits. The microwave warmed up drinks for us morning & night, and the fridge kept our favorite drinks cold & our pint of ice cream stayed frozen for desserts.
* I agree with a previous review that a 2nd chair in the living room chair would have helped, but we could have pulled in a hard chair from the bedroom. Instead, my husband and I shared the enormous soft chair.
* Our only issue was that a remote for outdoor lighting was reported missing after we left - yet we hadn't seen or used it while we were there. We hope it is found for future guest use.
* Our favorite part was that it was available for a last-minute booking to visit my parents on the island after they'd had a medical issue. (Other places off the island would have taken time away from our visit with them).
* While my parents rested, we spent our free time walking to the beach down the street, taking in the sunrise & sunset, touring the island's historic sites & a local farm, and driving to other beaches on that island and others.
* Thank you for making what could have been an unpleasant experience in a cold, far-away, off-island hotel room, a nice visit that felt like a "home away from home."

Great home away from home for family visit
Sue was so welcoming, and made my stay an even greater pleasure. I was eating with family and friends most of the time, but especially enjoyed the day I spent taking advantage of the attached patio space where a dear friend and I were able to catch up and take advantage of being able to eat outdoors during COVID.
Sue dropped off the most yummy seasonal berries a couple times, and shared a frittata one morning. None of this is, of course necessary for a VRBO, and the stay would have been excellent without these great touches. I just want to mention them because Sue provided great touches like these, while still providing all the space and privacy one would expect. And don't overlook the beach access! It's only two or three very short blocks away, and another great aspect of this lovely little cottage and patio space.

Cozy, Creative and Comfortable
Our stay in this delightful cottage was wonderful! Walking through the gate felt like walking into a different world! The outside patio was anointed with flowers, a garden table set and comfy relaxing chairs complete with a cozy blanket . Fresh flowers, raspberries and pillow candies greeted us. Such attention was in every detail and we wanted for nothing. Sue and Ken were exceptional hosts! They even went so far as to dig up scooters and bikes for our grandchildren who have a cabin down the street. The beach is just a short walk away and our son’s crab pots supplied all we could eat! The cottage was not rented for the day of our departure so Sue offered us the opportunity to stay the day if we chose to. As we had a plane to catch we were unable to take her up on the kind offer. We are in this area a few times a year so we will definitely be back!

Perfect get-a-way
My husband and I stayed at this property to attend a wedding on the island. Sue was so welcoming and made sure we had directions and plenty of things to do during our stay! We used the property’s kayaks and played board games.
We would love to stay here again!

Very clean, quiet, and relaxing getaway. Exactly what we were looking for. Both Sue and her husband were terrific. Access to private beach, and not being far from some State Parks was great. We also made a day trip to both Deception Pass and Fort Casey on near-by Widbey Island.

Quaint & Comfy
The cottage was just right for the two of us. Charming, and comfy. A short walk to the waterfront beach and breathtaking views. Sue was a gracious host, offering to lend me an ac adaptor for my laptop until my replacement came the next day. Due to the length of stay, Sue also allowed us to do some laundry, which was most appreciated. Sue and her friend showed me a private beach on the other side of the island that was fantastic. There was a spectacular view of the snow-covered Cascade mountains with no other humans around for as far as the eye can see. It was exactly what I needed. Thank you Sue for your hospitality. I'll definitely be returning another time.

Very nice, adorably decorated small cottage house in a beautiful location. Sue and Kenny were the nicest, most accomadating hosts. They went above and beyond to make our stay a great experience. I would definately stay here again.

Amazing get-away on Camano Island!
This place was fantastic for my wife and our 4 month old baby! Sue was awesome and very accommodating. The house is great and very cute! Perfect for a quick stay on the island for us. The neighborhood is beautiful and the inside of the house was so cute! They’ve clearly put a lot of work into it. It is a separate house on their property but they are super respectful of privacy and leaving you alone. Seriously the nicest people ever! They care so much. If I HAD to criticize one thing it’s that the water takes a little while to warm up but they let us know ahead of time so it made no difference to us since we were expecting it. Everything here was perfect and we highly recommend!

Loved staying in this little place! It fit the description as described and was easy to come and go from all day while visiting different beaches. Very quiet neighborhood too!

Not what we expected.
Hate to give a bad review. Hoping that it will help the owners improve things for future guests. Owners are friendly, bed is comfy, it was clean and quaint but not what we expected. Although the owners were away most of our visit, we did not expect that we would be just feet from the owners home with our windows looking at their home, other neighbor windows look down into the space as well, when the owner was home my daughter was shocked to suddenly see her right outside the window. The garden area appears to be for the cottage from the photos, but it is the owner's yard. Improving the porch space with more greenery and natural concealing (rather than a shower curtain) of owner's stuff, a firepit... would make this much more attractive. The space could easily be improved to be more cozy for two by adding another cozy chair, cozy blankets, and better space for getting ready; mirror that is the right height by an outlet in the bedroom space. The kitchen was a challenge to maneuver with limited outlets, just getting a longer cord for extra outlets would have helped. The floor in the shower/bathroom is creative and pretty but very uncomfortable on the feet and cold. The bed was very comfortable, which was where we hung out, played games and watched movies, when we were there so that we both were comfortable. We spent most of our time out and about so it was fine, but we would not choose to stay again.

Cozy, quaint cottage close to beach!
Sue and Kenny were wonderful, welcoming, accommodating hosts. We spent 3 nights in the cottage, cooking several of our meals, enjoying a few games of Chinese Checkers and just relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked. We loved walking to the beach for sunsets!
Sue went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. Much appreciated!
