About this house rental

Anchor Down Cottage is a wonderful dog-welcoming semi-detached three-bed home by the sea, sleeping up to four adult guests comfortably, situated in old Ryde, on the Isle of Wight. Tucked away in a peaceful road, steeped in history with links to Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton, and moments from Ryde’ golden sandy beach as well as all the superb international restaurants, café and boutiques that Ryde has to offer. The Cottage was built in 1937 and is a welcoming traditional home, set over two floors, with a sitting room to the front with a large smart TV and warming log burner for those colder evenings. Heading to the heart of the house you will find a well-equipped fitted kitchen with a multi-fuel range oven. The light dining area is just off of the kitchen, with bi-folding doors out into the immaculate lockable walled garden with a table, chairs and a small gas bbq. There is also a covered area for bikes. Upstairs you will find three double bedrooms all with TV’s. A master king double with an en-suite shower room and sea views, and two standard doubles. The family bathroom offers a bath with a rain shower over the bath, with plenty of hot water for all.

The bustling historical town centre of Ryde has lots to offer for the whole family, with its marina, boating lake, children’s rides, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and bowling Greens, as well as having many international restaurants, pubs, cafés, boutiques, and antique shops, definitely something to do for everyone. Not forgetting the 6 miles of golden, gently sloping sandy beaches, which are ideal for bathing in the summer and breathtaking embracing walks in the winter. There is no better way to start your day, than taking a brisk walk from Ryde to Seaview while watching the sun rise, then pop into a café in Seaview and walk home.

The house is very well presented, with a great well equipped kitchen, a lovely secure garden for the dog, and a fantastic master bedroom. The owners are very generous with ‘consumables’ ie dishwasher tabs etc. we felt very safe and comfortable here

Very comfortable house close to beach
Very comfortable house close to beach
The house was very comfortable and we particularly loved the conservatory and the doors opening out on to the garden. The house is decorated with many nautical items and pictures from around the world. Some parts of Ryde are a little down at heel but there are plenty of attractive cafes and restaurants and the Appley beach is particularly pretty. The pirate adventure golf is fun, although there are plenty of other mini golf places on the island!
