Einfach perfekt!

Charming well equipped character property on a hill just below Zia main area
This is a very pretty little place, it was quite relaxing. We had a lovely welcome from the owners with a generous welcome pack (fruit, wine, cheese, ham, bread honey etc.). Had we have needed them, I think they would have been very accommodating. The property was well equipped, plenty of essential items to use (detergent, softener, toiletries, toilet rolls etc.) as well as some basics for cooking (salt, herbs, oil, tea, coffee, etc.) along with a host of gadgets (but alas no toaster 😔, or microwave) There are sun loungers on the roof, table & chairs and other seating in the courtyard. All the rooms are a comfortable size and it is as charming looking in reality as it is in the photos. Communication with the owners and the manager was always quick. Constructive criticism aside, we have no hesitation in recommending this place as a good option for staying in Zia.
X Not being told about the short but incredibly steep hill into the village. We managed ok, but this was mainly because we were here when it was cool and we are not unfit. Getting our even small carry-on cases down was a bit hairy and getting them up again was a hard work. As I said, it is short though, probably less than 200 metres in total, all up or down hill and the steepest part is only about 20-30 metres, but that part is VERY steep. If we were aware of it in advance, I think we still would have booked this charming place regardless, however, this might not be the case for anybody with even slight mobility issues. Irrelevant (partially)of course if you are driving to/from Zia …but you wouldn’t want to be driving in and out of the village during your stay. X We requested assistance with booking a taxi from the port. The property agent said it is €50 euros each way for them to arrange. I thought this expensive and checked with a taxi firm. The standard rate is €28 (and a couple of € extra if you needed a reservation). X Whilst the house is pretty there are some uncomfortable aspects, the bed is hard (may suit some) and there is no comfort to be had in the living room whatsoever, we found it unusable; it is a dark room (which would benefit from a stable door) and there is only an antique pew/bench/settle to sit on, the room is austere, cluttered and museum like…zero consideration given to guest comfort. This said, it wasn’t a big issue for us as we were out a lot of the time or we just used the courtyard. If it were my place I would put a sofa bed in the living room (as it would make it comfortable to accommodate small families). I know, it’s not my place and some people might like it exactly as it is. It is certainly not lacking in character.

loved it.
amazing location, the sunsets are the best on the island from the private terrace. The ceiling fans are high quality and kept us cool. It was evident that this house was newly decorated.
Nothing not to like, a car is recommended to get around as the house is quite out of the way from the beaches. 2 minute walk to Zia.

We loved this quirky yet relaxing bit of heaven
Loved the location. Walking distance to Zia, where there were fantastic restaurants. It was quiet and relaxing. The roof terrace was wonderful for viewing the sunsets.
A sofa or couch in the living room would be nice, but we sat outside most of the time anyway.

Exceptional
Just Phantastic. Outside the village of Zia. So you will hear almost nothing from that Hotspot. When booking this house I knew noting about Zia. I just thought there's a nice house remote in the mountains. OK, this is true. But Zia is the place for the famous sunsets. The restaurants make all their money in three hours around sunset. You can sit and watch all seats with a view being occupied, a dozen busses are trying to make their way back home, uncounted cars and vans, dramatic scenes to get a taxi. Zia has also a nature park with nice animals, the way up to the mountains, turtles on the streets. All shop owners produce their own olive oil, only the bottles and cans are the same everywhere. In the Aegean Blue Country House you will find everything you need. Kitchen is fully equipped, numerous towels of all sizes, a washing machine. It really saves luggage. Even heaters are there, we actually needed them in the first two nights, then the summer heat came. But climate in the mountain is generally 2 or 3 degrees cooler. Very good. On the roof you can lay, have a drink and watch your private sunset all night. Everything was found clean and tidy. The hosts are helpful in any way and friendly. Supermarkets are down by the main road (Bazaar and Lidl). Fruits and vegetables are available on small shops everywhere. In the area you will find figues, grapes, mulberry, loquat, pomegranate, wild fennel, herbs - just free from nature. Try to save water, the island is not a wet one, water has to be imported by vessels and produced from sea water. Enjoy your stay and keep this jewel of a house in good condition.

Magical hideaway stone cottage with views
We loved the situation - mountainside behind and sunset / sea views on the other. Sitting up on the roof terrace, enjoying a cocktail whilst watching and listening to the wildlife and breathing deeply on the fresh hillside air. It’s an easy 15 minutes drive to the beach and centrally located in the island so good for exploring all over. The renovated stone mill house is decorated with great care and love for traditional Greek interiors.
There is nothing that would stop us coming again.
