About this lodge
Nestled in Arkansas, this lovely lodge for $175 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Lake Fort Smith Frontier Lodge was built in 2002 featuring ceilings and exquisite wood work. Situated near Lake Fort Smith, with beautiful mountain views, our lodge features a very secluded and roomy place for your larger families or groups. During summer, fall, winter or spring, sport's enthusiasts of all ages will find the lodge to be a premiere mountain vacation destination. Visitors can easily access some of the best hiking and biking trails nearby, or just simply relax and soak up the surroundings. you can truly enjoy a true mountain vacation at this mountain resort adjacent to the Ozarks National Forest. There you can explore natures wonderful gifts of waterfalls, wildlife, and numerous trails. The ultimate in fun for everyone. One aspect our patrons love the most about our lodge is the location. Even though a secluded on top of a mountain, you are only minutes away from Lake Fort Smith and park, Devils Den, Fayetteville, and the natural forest. You are right in the middle of everything with easy access to interstate 49 and hwy 71. Fort Smith park offers opportunities for fishing, boating, picnic outings and in the summer a water park/pool. We have recently added a five porch swing set around the fire pit. Guest can also use our 16ft movie screen and projector to watch movies or shows under the stars while fixing s'mores or campfire hotdogs! * To get to the lodge you do have to go up a hill on a dirt road. Every day vehicles easily make it up to the location. However if you are towing a trailer it is highly recommend for it to be a 4x4 for added precaution. It is also advised not to bring a 50ft trailer. We have had several guest bring 32 ft trailers. ** We do have a strict limit of no more than 14 people staying over night.. We are trying our best to keep the lodge and property in great shape. If you have any questions about the max limit please send an inquiry. ABOUT US: My wife and I just recently bought Lake Fort Smith Frontier Lodge in June 2020. We had just moved back to Arkansas after completing 26 years of service in the United States Navy. We live in a cabin on the 10 acres not far from the lodge. We are continuously striving to upgrade the property and are excited to increase the number of amenities in order to offer families and groups a fantastic and enjoyable experience.

The house was just what we were looking for, and the property is beautiful. Such a retreat away and a great place to spend time with family. No issues during our stay, our kids got to meet the animals. Special thank you to Brian for helping change a flat tire on our day of departure. Wonderful stay, will be back again!

We had an amazing time at this lodge! Brian was great to work with and responds quickly. The property is beautiful and the views are amazing! Towns are close and there is plenty to do. There is a ton of stuff to do at the lodge and a lot of room! No one was crowded with our group of 11. The beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Soooo much stuff for our two families to play with from pool to volleyball to board games! The swings and coffee time had to be my favorite time!!!

This was a great place for our group of 10. The checkin and checkout processes were easy. Brian was very responsive to any questions we had. The place was clean. The linens were nice. The beds were comfortable. It was very handy to have two refrigerators. It was a great place to come back to after riding the trails. There was plenty of room to park the trucks and trailers. Definitely would stay here again!

Our 6 adult, 3 kids and 1 toddler had a great time together at this lodge. The 5 bedrooms were a bonus and we were able to give the youngest his own room for naps and earlier bedtimes. Brian had 4 new swings around the fire pit which was so nice and such a varied games for us to play. The two kitchens 2 dining tables and 2 fridges was really nice to have with a big group. It was cool with a breeze blowing most of the time and the kids loved to run up and down the hills and fish at the pond. The reclining sofa chairs were new and comfy. This was the best arrangement for a family trip we have ever had!

We celebrated our 17th annual Brothers Bash at this beautiful Mountainburg property. Everything was just as described in VRBO, pictures and all. Plenty of room, clean, good beds, plenty of kitchen utensils, pool table that can change into a ping pong table, plenty of board games, beautiful area, etc. We couldn't have asked for a better Host for a property. Brian was kind, explained information that he thought would be helpful to us, and just made us feel comfortable. Thank you, Brian. You're an absolutely wonderful Host. Highly recommend this property.

This cabin was clean and the host was very welcoming. He immediately responded to our needs and at the same time respected our privacy. We were in a peaceful and secluded location. We would definitely use this cabin again.

Absolutely everything we needed for our weekend getaway. The cabin perfect for our group and made it easy to cook meals while socializing with everyone there. Brain the owner went above and beyond to answer ever question we had and to accommodate our long trailer situation. We had had a great time minus the fact that this is located in a dry county so for anyone read this make sure you pack enough. We defiantly had a blast with lots of laughs and Brain keep up the good work.

The lodge was large, clean, warm, and all the amenities of home. There were so many games and activities - inside and out. The children loved horse shoes, feeding the catfish and ducks at the pond, but the biggest hit(literally) was Penelope the not/mini pig!

This was a rest and relaxation trip after the hectic Christmas holidays and it did not disappoint. The lodge was roomy and comfortable and there was lots to do for 3 teenage boys , their moms and grandmothers. Fishing, hiking and just hanging out was enjoyed by all. Would highly recommend this beautiful lodge to any group, big or small. The two kitchens and living spaces are a big plus!

This place had the most amazing views and the drive up to the lodge was a lot of fun for my Subaru!!
Most impressed by the care put into stocking the lodge for guests to feel at home. There are plenty of dishes, seating, games and sundries to accommodate a large group. The beds were comfy and I loved that there were throw blankets to snuggle under on the couch. The weather was quite cold so we didn't utilize the outdoor activities but there were many available. Brian is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Can't wait to bring the whole family here!
And Penelope the pig is a charmer!
Thank you Brian for a great stay!

We loved staying at this little lodge. Brian was the best, they had so much to do. We were originally going to spend all day at the state park about 20 minutes away but ended going back to the lodge earlier because there was so much to do there. The lodge also has had some upgrades from the pictures. We will definitely be coming back!

The cabin was set-up perfect for our group of 9. Having 2 kitchens was perfect. The extra games of ping pong and the pool table was perfect for our evenings . My son was able to fish Brian’s pond and meet the neighbor boys and he really enjoyed that. Brian was VERY ACCOMMODATING… the temp was around 105 the week we stayed and he was so kind and brought us two more fans to make our stay more comfortable. The only thing I would say was odd was there was some dog / animal that tore into my sons fishing backpack 2 nights in a row… we should’ve put it inside the house and not left anything outside. No fault of the cabin or owner. Just be aware. I would highly recommend this cabin for a get away. We went sxs on the trails of Mill Creek OHV trails, traveled through Devils Den,, Buckhorn trails, and Lake Fort Smith! Absolutely beautiful!!!

This house has the feeling of a "get away" spot with the peace, beautiful views and privacy of a "retreat lodging" off the beaten path. Brian has also very thoughtfully added the attractions that enhance even more the enjoyment of the stay - outdoor horseshoes, cornhole and volleyball, an indoor pool table, pingpong, movies and games. Add to that the stunning sunsets, followed by the show of fireflies after the sun went down (June visit), and it was ideal for our family reunion. Brian is one of the most responsive and accommodating hosts we have experienced, but also sensitive to guests' needs for privacy. One piece of advice from personal experience - I would recommend that you pay close attention to the well written directions to the lodge that Brian will send you (and share them with others in your party!)

Brian was quick to respond to any questions or concerns that came up. He lives near the lodge, but is VERY respectful of privacy. The view is breathtaking and the fact that it is on 10 acres makes it a nice getaway! The lodge is packed full of everything you could need! The mattresses and towels are so soft. My 5 and 2 year old had a blast at the pond! Easy hikes are less than 10 mins away along with the town playground. We will definitely be back to stay!

Thank you, Brian, for sharing your lovely mountain getaway with us. It's been a stressful 6 months and we really needed to disappear from the world for a few days. This cabin was the perfect place to accomplish that goal. Cozy, comfortable, and beautiful views. While seemingly in the middle of nothing, the cabin is close to Devil's Den and Lake Fort Smith State Parks, both of which we visited, along with great pizza at Pizza Den, and then Alma, which had everything we needed to stock the fridge. Also just a stone's throw from I-49: easy in/out! We can't wait to return!

To begin, the owner Brian gave us good directions on how to more easily access the property. Use Waze app. We had a slight hiccup with the electricity in one room (kids room), but ran some Christmas lights from an outlet just outside the room and it was a hit with the kids. Brian offered to come take a look, but with the arrangements with the Christmas lights, the kids would not have had it any other way. Just added to the great experience. The cabin had plenty of room for all 12 of us. There was a pool table, ping pong, board games, horse shoes, basketball goal, corn hole, hammock, swing, picnic tables, and a rope swing outside. Brian also has a pet pig, Penelope, that about 170lbs or so. He brought her out so the kids could feed and pet her. They loved that. The kids fed the catfish in the pond and enjoyed watching the ducks. There is plenty of room for the kids to run around and play. The property was conveniently located about 10 min from a Dollar General and Devils Den was about a half hour away. If you want a place visit and feel absolutely entertained without leaving, this is the place and I highly recommend.

We had planned a weekend getaway with our daughter and friends from the University and a pretty big ice/snow storm hit the area. We ended up taking our chances and making the trek up the snow packed mountain. Wow! We were not disappointed!
“The Lodge” (as we now fondly refer to it) was an excellent getaway on a weekend that we would have been stuck indoors either way. It gave us the chance to spend time with our daughters and their friends and a place for the college kids to hang out (that wasn’t the dorm) and get a few “home cooked” meals.
The set up of the house is excellent. We were able to enjoy the living room side while the kids played games on the other.
Brian was great to work with and went out of his way to accommodate. It’s obvious they are updating the lodge to make it even better.
I can’t wait for our next visit which we are already planning!

The cabin and the property were beautiful! Me, my husband, and our friends went to visit for a weekend getaway and it was perfect. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and having the double kitchen was really great too. We do trips like this about 1-2 times a year and this is definitely one of the best because of where we stayed. Would definitely come back!!
