About this house rental
Home in the Hills II is an executive style and the second of our exclusively built vacation homes. The home is in a unique Hill City neighborhood. High above and overlooking the scenic valley below. Here you will see Newton Creek and find easy access to the center point of the 100 - mile Mickelson bike and hiking trail. Forest Service land surrounds this valley, which hosts many deer and wildlife for your viewing. Easy access to some great hiking and scenery of the great black hills. Fishing in Minor and Major lakes. Low light rules allow some fantastic viewing of the night stars – the big dipper is right off the back deck!
The central Hill City location allows you a short trip to access the most attractive and historic sites the Black Hills have to offer. Rapid City and the international airport is 30 minutes . Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse monument and Sylvan lake are a short 15 minute drive. Black Elk Mountain - highest SD location - is just outside of Hill City. Hill City also offers some unique shopping eateries and yes the 1880 train which moves people from the depot in Hill City up the mountain to Keystone where the entire day can be spent touring the attractions.
Inside this 3300 square foot home you and family will find 5 bedrooms, three full baths and powder room off of the kitchen - all with towels, hand soap and yes the hair dryer. Upper level has three bedrooms. Master suite with king bed and spacious bath with shower and soaking tub. Two additional bedrooms with queen beds and a full bath.
The kitchen is large with ample counter space and is fully stocked with all utensils, cookware, coffee pot and slow cooker. You will find the plan very open with the great room and its fireplace just beyond the kitchen island. The great room has large windows, offering great views of the valley and meadows below. Plenty of seating, a large television and fireplace for those chilly evenings.
Dinning with large table for 8 is just off the kitchen - seating for 4 more at the Kitchen Island. The large covered deck is accessed from the dining or master bedroom and is great for some morning sun, relaxing and evening cooking on the gas grill.
Mud room with washer, dryer and 1/2 bath are just off of the large garage. In the garage you will have a selection of bikes, games and yes a small side by side for your use.
The lower level is a walk out to large, covered patio and hot tub! The family room is on this level with pool, foosball tables and games. There is a kitchenette/wet bar and 2 additional bedrooms with a full bath, just beyond the family room. Bedrooms have Queen bed and 2 full/twin bunks. You will find a few toys for the little ones in bedroom closet!

The house is in a prime location for seeing all of the attractions. We had deer strolling by morning and night. Floyd was fantastic to work with.

We could not have been happier! Great communication, the house was immaculate, the owner greeted us (nice man), the location was perfect. The house was supplied with everything we needed plus more. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and the fire pit. The view was beautiful. We saw deer every day. We just cannot put into words how perfect everything was. We would love to come back someday.

Hill City is, in my opinion, the perfect place to stay if you are planning to take in all of the landmarks the Black Hills has to offer. I would stay At this property again in a heartbeat.

This home is perfectly set up for a family. The location is ideal. Even though it is just up the hill from Hill City, it is quiet and private. We also appreciated the owner’s attentiveness in personally meeting us at the house when we checked in and making sure we had everything we needed.

Great location, Beautiful home with many extra amenities! Hot tub, pool table and Foosball table were fun to have there! It was nice to have the grill, back deck/porch was beautiful. Fully furnished kitchen for supplies and lots of seatingfor a group to gather together. Two sets of washers and dryers. Chuck was a great host and checked in with us too. He even set out the hose to wash off the wheelers!

Property is even better than the pictures. The main level opens onto a large covered porch area, which has the most amazing view.
House is new, and has all the amenities you need Kitchen is well stocked with pots, bowls dishes and extra supplies (more than the typical single trash bag and tiny dish washing supplies. There are two washer/dryers . Downstairs game room and hot tub kept our kids occupied. Beds and pillows were great - a factor many owners fail to maintain. Also had an ATV, bikes and fishing poles for your use.,
Floyd stopped by and made sure we had everything we needed, and went over basic info. Checking to make sure we had propane for the bbq.
Hill City is central to everything you want to do in the Black Hills area. Krull Grocery is just blocks away. Prices are higher than expected, but very convenient.
It is obvious that the owners have made a real effort to make this house the perfect Black Hills home away from home.
Highly recommend a stay there fs you are in the area.

After staying here 3 years in a row, all 8 of us adults agreed to book it again for next year. It's close to hiking, fishing, museum visits, groceries, biking and running trails, and has so many options for activities right at the home site. Besides all that, the view off the huge covered deck is unbelievable!

Plenty of rooms, fun games for kids, phenomenal deck, lots of towels, spices to cook with, wonderfully stocked kitchen....Seriously, this is the best vacation rental we have ever stayed in. This home was over the top and more then we could of even imagined. There were 9 of us and we occupied all 5 bedroons and 3 1/2 baths with so much more room to spare! Every detail of this home so so carefully thought out. As you walked in from the garage there was a mud room as we call it, to shed your jackets and shoes (which we are a firm believer does are for outside and slippers and socks for inside) :) there were TWO WASHERS AND TWO DRYERS! Perfect for our party of 9 as noone had to wait to do their clothes. The layout of the kitchen, common area and upper and lower deck were just outstanding. Even the hot tub!!! We never got a chance to shoot pool or play darts or foosball but totally cool that was available as well along with a cabinet full of games! The view was breath taking! It goes without saying the pictures listed for this property are GREAT but don't do it justice.... it is truly OVER THE TOP! WE CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN! Also the location couldn't be better.... close to SO MANY MUST SEES! Thank you Chuck for the use of your home. We thoroughly evite every inch! Stay well.

We loved staying in this location in Hills City. The house was up on a hill overlooking a valley with a stream where we saw deer daily. Plus we were close to Custer State Park, Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. The house was perfect for the 7 adults and two dogs. We had plenty of room. We would definitely stay here again!

The location and view would be hard to beat! As cyclists, the location on the Mickelson trail is perfect. The deck is lovely any time of the day, and the home was very clean, very well stocked, and the owners were welcoming and prompt. From greeting us and showing us around the property, to dropping off dry wood for a campfire, they were just a text away. We would highly recommend this VRBO, and would definitely stay again!

We loved our stay. This Hill City house was as pictured. It was a new, beautiful large home with great views. We all enjoyed our stay. The Mickelson trail runs right thru the neighborhood so we often took walks, and rode bikes, on the trail. Also, you’re a 2-minute drive to Hill City’s shops and restaurants, plus close to Mount Rushmore, etc. We’d definitely stay here again!

We came back for year two at this beautiful property with our children and their families. The home has a great Black Hills view, but within minutes of groceries, entertainment, and unique shopping. Besides all that, it's next to the Mickelson Trail! We all get a comfortable bed in a home with a kitchen where we can treat the group with food we love to prepare and serve.
