The house is in a neighborhood about halfway up one of the mountain roads from the town of Orosi. Overall, it's a fantastic house very comfortable for our party of 4. Great place to enjoy a glass of wine on the porch and visit in the late afternoons. The kitchen was adequately equipped with coffee maker, microwave, range, fridge. We mostly ate breakfast and brought take out dinners during our stay. The views of the Orosi Valley from the dining area and porch are amazing! Vernon was available and attentive to our needs. We will definitely consider staying here again!

It's a nice house about halfway up one of the mountain roads, but contrary to what you might expect, it isn't really secluded. There are plenty of neighbors and their dogs all around. Overall, it's a fantastic house for the price, and can hold 5-6 people comfortably. The view is fantastic! However, just be aware you absolutely need a 4wd car to get up the disintegrated half pavement half dirt road. While this is a good house, and lots of space for the price, there are some ways where the house could be better equipped, some of which have been mentioned in other reviews already. For instance, since the house is capable of holding 6 people, it would be nice if there were outside furniture for 6 people instead of only 2. The kitchen is not well equipped if you are intending to cook meals from scratch, lacking in good knives and only a few very worn pots and pans. The hot tub also proved to be a lot of trouble to get working correctly, and requires significant time to reheat each time you want to use it.

The place was very quiet ( except the noises from the “ rain forest” which were delightful to us. The house was clean, simple but perfect for what we wanted, which was a marriage retreat get away.

All I can is WOW! What a beautiful property. We extended our stay because we fell in love with the home and community. The first few days of going up the hill were rough but it got easier with practice. If you rent a car, get a 4x4 and you’ll be just fine. If you don’t rent a car there are taxis everywhere. Even a town Uber helps for very little money. The yard was perfect for my son to play. I didn’t bring his dog because I wasn’t sure he’d have space, but I could have !! Perfect for families or writers who needed to clear their heads. There’s a jacuzzi and a hammock that allows you to soak up the sun. The porch is covered so you can sit outside in the rain if you like. There’s a grill that’s easy to light and the home is completely stocked. The family came to maintain the yard every week so it was always well-manicured. The neighbors are helpful, even with the language barrier. It is safe to walk or bus into town and very inexpensive to do that. Very close to many markets and grocery stores. Communicating with Vernon was very simple, just a text away at all times. We didn’t have any issues. There’s so much I can say but I’m running out of space! Highly recommend!!

We'd go back in a heartbeat!
We'd go back in a heartbeat!
There were three of us "working remotely" from Vernon's home for a full month. He was exceptionally responsive to our internet needs and upgraded his service well ahead of our arrival. We were all working full time during the week (8-5) with lots of band width required and never had an issue until the very last day. Although we lost a good bit of that work day to ISP issues it really was just an act of God and Vernon was quick to contact the ISP for trouble shooting. In terms of the property itself, it was everything we hoped for and more. The home is large, comfortable, and easily met our needs in terms of private and public spaces. The property itself was nestled into a bustling neighborhood (close neighbors, dogs, cats, chickens, cows, etc...) that was active from early morning until later in the evenings. We had a security gate to our home so we felt safe but not alone. There were also plenty of security cameras spread across the property's exterior with was another nice touch. The drive from the main street to our house was a little more than one kilometer of very steep, pretty treacherous terrain, so we were glad for a four wheel drive with high clearance. The trade off was well worth it as the vista from our front porch over the Orisi Valley was nothing less than spectacular. We contacted Vernon throughout our stay with questions and requests and he was always immediately responsive. What he could not address himself he coordinated with family and property managers to attend to. The furnishings were comfortable and adequate - few extra "frills" but that did not really matter to us. That said, we REALLY appreciated the outdoor hot tub and hammocks for lounging in the evenings. The town of Orisi is sleepy but quaint. Since we worked during the week we really did not have big needs for excursions/activities during the week. We saved our weekends to explore the area or travel greater distances. Overall this was our first experience working remotely and we all would do it again in a heartbeat. Casa Amarissa is something special.

Beautiful view
Beautiful view
This place is great in terms of location and view. However, be prepared for the road up! Also, nothing is provided (i.e. soap/ shampoo/ spices/paper towels/ coffee filters). The owner, if he's going to continue to be a VRBO property, needs to step up his game by providing some basics. (Examples include: outdoor seating for more than 2 people; dishes.-I think we found 6 dinner plates for 4 of us and these did not match; Glasses --we bought, and left, wine glasses; Serving/ prep bowls.) He was very accommodating but the arrival/ departure process needs improvement as he accesses the gate remotely so you have to wait on him. With a little attention he good have an A+ property.

Amazing View
Amazing View
My family and I spent a week here, the cost goes down on weekly rentals. The home was large, spacious, clean, and had an outdoor hot tub. We had 4 adults and one toddler. Plenty of room. Highly recommended. I would come back for sure. The hill up to the property was steep and rough. 4 wheel drive recommended, but not necessary.

Fantastic place, unbeatable view
Fantastic place, unbeatable view
This place was amazing! My friends and I were looking for a home base while exploring Costa Rica, and this place did not disappoint. The house is huge, the pictures definitely undersell how much space there is. The host was extremely helpful, and called to give us suggestions about places to go. We fell in love with the town, Orosi, and would absolutely go back. I would recommend getting a 4x4 car for the drive up to the house (and for driving elsewhere in Costa Rica). Definitely check out the deep rainforest of Tapanti and pick some fruit from the trees in the yard while you’re here. Thanks Vernon and Eugenia for the fantastic stay!
