Wonderful place. The pool. is perrfect and it so close to the beach. We found the staff to be friendly and efficient.

El personal son magníficas personas, siempre con una sonrisa dispuestos a ayudarlo a uno en lo que se pudiese. Todos son super amables.
Molesta con los dueños. Me guardaron un campo relativamente cómodo con un cono para mi carro y la ley 7600 pues mi esposo tiene una discapacidad, parkinson. Salimos a pasear pero para mi sorpresa los dueños ordenaron quitar el campo para ellos estacionar cómodamente y me dejaron un campo tan terrible e incómodo que no pude sacar la silla de ruedas de mi esposo. Que los señores son más o menos mayores porque yo los vi, si son mayorcitos pero NO SON DISCAPACITADOS, los vi caminando muy bien y yo viendo a ver como hacia con mi esposo. El muchacho de la recepción muy apenado ayudándome a estacionar en ese campo tan incomodo y ayudame a bajar a mi esposo. Por esa patanería de los dueños volvería pero así nunca más. Una lástima que no respetan la ley 7600.

The Palms is a little hotel about 50 meters from the beach and about 50 meters from the main strip in the other direction - the perfect location! The area is lively, plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, anything you want to do while on vacation. It is safe to walk around after dark - which happens here around 6:30 pm
The best thing about the place is the crew!! The guys at check-in - Louis and Steven - went above and beyond to take care of the guests, making sure everything was to our liking. ( we needed to change rooms- it took all but 5 minutes!) Helpful, kind, polite, efficient, and always smiling! They made me feel like I was just simply visiting some long lost relatives
There is entertainment every night - Bingo, Karaoke, Singers, we even had a Murder mystery play we acted out - it was so much fun! The organizer was the owner lady, who was welcoming and enjoying all her guests
The pool is spectacular, surrounded by palm trees, chairs - and of course, the bar is not far off to the side.
There is a restaurant on the premises with yummy food- this is where you eat your breakfast, which is included in the price.
Everything is clean and fresh, you can get pool towels from the front desk, and exchange them as needed.
If you need a cab, just ask the guys at the front, but Uber also runs if you prefer that. ( Cab to the airport is $50)
The property itself could use a little love ; there are some TINY budget rooms ( and I mean reaaaaaally tiny !) and of course, larger ones as well. It wasn't size, that bothered me so much, as the lack of shelves and surfaces to put things on in that small room. The beds are comfortable, and there is AC in the rooms.
The breakfast selection is good for a couple of days, but if you stay longer, you will get tired of it.
Don't be surprised if you have some 'visitors' we saw some big cockroaches and even a scorpion!

Helpful Friendly staff. Enjoyed the theme nights. Restaurant served excellent food for breakfast lunch and dinner. Pool was big and wonderful so refreshing temperature perfect and so clean.

We were in end unit could hear dog barking and vehicles. A smell came through the air conditioner every night.

The pool was great. The front desk person was very friendly. It was walking distance to the beach and the town.

We got a room with a balcony which was comfy, the pool was great and the drinks good as well. Check in was easy and the staff as nice as they could be, although more could have been done about the situation we were facing with the safety of their hotel. It was also beautifully located, a few steps from the beach; though this location may have contributed to the increase in risk for the balcony situation.
We paid for an upgrade to a room with a balcony but ended up regretting it horribly. Twice during our stay, things left to dry were stolen off of the 2nd floor balcony (room 39), as we were in the room! They didn't comp our bill, give us a consolation drink or anything for our negative experience. Worse, during our stay, the next door room was also burglarized with their balcony facing the street also. No notice was given upon check in regarding the extreme potential for theft. To reach the balcony, one would have to do some walking on roofs or some gymnastics. Never leave stuff to dry on the balcony (laundry), even if you're in the room. Always lock the balcony door. If possible, don't pay for that unnecessary upgrade since you'll be throwing money away for an unusable feature.
The room could have benefited from having a set of drawers or other furniture such as night tables, it felt a bit awkward to find places to put our stuff for a 2-week stay. The breakfast is fine but overpriced, and becomes very sad and redundant if you stay for more than a week.
I'm sure I would have loved my stay more without the unusable balcony and the negative experiences attached to it. I just wish the owner and others at the hotel would have gone the extra mile to make our stay more enjoyable after this. They did assist with translating to the cops what happened and wrote a letter for insurance, but when asked if we could get out of the mandatory breakfast fee we weren't enjoying anymore, they weren't receptive at all and didn't accommodate us.

Okay, the room. We were happy to book a budget room with 2 single beds, but the beds take up 90 percent of the room. It wasn't a problem, tho.
The hotel has a very large lounge area around the pool and restaurant, and we were not in the room much, so it wasn't a huge issue.
If you tend to stay in the room, don't book the budget room.
The beds were very comfortable, good AC, hot water mini fridge. Breakfast was good.
The location is excellent.

I felt like I slept in a closet of a nightclub I couldn’t hear my own device. The walls where so thin it shook every time my drunk neighbour made is way to the bathroom. Finally I was awakened way to early by the neighbouring rooster 😒

Staff was hit or miss with helpfulness. First morning we were told was that we didn’t get breakfast included which was a lie.

The pool is very nice, perhaps the best we experienced on this trip. The bird serenade in the morning is wonderful. The staff is efficient, some very friendly, others a bit standoffish, but certainly not unfriendly. The location is convenient to the beach, a short 1 block walk, and the "downtown area (the shops, restaurants, and bars) was about the same distance in another. A soccer ("futbol") field is directly opposite the main entrance, which seemed to have a lot of soccer action in the 3 days we were there. The 4 included breakfast choices were good, with the fruit being the best. The facility was clean. There is an onsite mini-store open whenever the main lobby is open (7am-11pm??). Nice free pool table with good cues, etc. right near the bar and swimming pool (the night bar manager Randall is a worthy opponent;').
The bait-and-switch with mandatory upsell for the room: we reserved a "Double Room with Balcony" and arriving from our very nice room in Jaco we expected something far better than what we were shown (I'll add a picture of our cell below). The charge was MORE than we paid in Jaco, but a substantially poorer room, with a balcony that overlooked a red tin roof with the pool visible beyond. No views of the beach or mountains. We were charged $67.80 to upgrade to a king-sized bed in a room down the hall, with 2 unopening windows, from one of which the soccer field was visible and the other we could see the beach area (I'll post a picture of that as well). The airconditioner in the 2nd room worked poorly but did get the temperature down well enough so we were comfortable at night. Nothing about the room was particularly bad, but there was also nothing about it to make us spend any time there except to sleep, shower, and dress.

Location was great, only a block from the beach. Breakfast was acceptable. My sister could not have any gluten and she was able to substitute for her diet. Staff went above and beyond to answer questions and provide any help that was needed.
