The Space:
Within a mile of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, the VA Medical Center, 10 minutes to the Columbia Airport, and 15 minutes to the statehouse, you will have easy access to all that Columbia has to offer!

The driveway can accommodate up to 5 cars. Upon driving up to the Mid-Century Getaway, it is the green knoll that will capture your imagination. Upon entering the home, you will be steps from the living room area, complete with two couches, a roundtable, and a door to a first-floor bedroom (Queen and futon). On the other side of the living room, there is a door to the Master bedroom (King bed and comfy sitting area) with a door that opens into the backyard. Straight-back from the living room, you will find a kitchen with a table to the right that sits 6 people. On your way through the house, feel free to take a break by the butcher's block. Notably, there are also two full bathrooms and a mud room (with washer and dryer) on the first floor. If you need a quick nap, you can step to the left of the kitchen to two twin beds that extend into a room with a full bed and twin trundle. Into the back of the house, there is an additional room with two full beds and a full bed with twin trundle bed. Although the Mid-Century Getaway can sleep many, it is the backyard picnic table that delights.

I am very disappointed on many of the functionality of our stay. My son's formula which is needed was not kept edifice enough nor was the food that we planned on coming on our stay here. This resulted in us having to purchase more food than planned. The water was extremely hot for all off us including my elderly mother and the kids and toddlers. The outlets weren't keeping charge the consistently either. The rugs were hazardous so we had to pull them up not to cause any incidents. Because the wifi was not working foe the first day, we had to use extremely large amounts of data and could not connect our entertainment apps. The AC stop working. Changed my location 2 two before check in.

The space and location was good as we were there for an army graduation. The property upon arrival seems to be out dated. The rugss were dirty and the back-door had water seepage that was on the floor. The front door had issues with opening due to the bottom screen fuxture being broken. Lots of space to sleep but we bad a bedbug issue in one room and roach issue in the bottom bathroom. I have reached out to property management I believe and submitted pictures. I am hoping a refund in full is issued for this unsanitary stay or at least half.

For future renter's, please be aware that this property is run by a professional property management company, which means there is no contact with the owner or personal touch when communicating with the management company. I was required to sign an 8 page rental agreement, as well as provide a picture of myself holding my driver's license as proof of who I was. Unfortunately, we booked this rental within 14 days of use, and had to cancel due to a family medical emergency the day before we were supposed to stay. We understood the refund policy (before 14 days prior 50% refund, after 7 days prior 0% refund), and didn't purchase insurance, because we had no intention of canceling. Family was meeting from FL and VA, and SC, to celebrate Thanksgiving and 83rd birthday of grandfather. Sadly, after several emails back and forth, explaining the medical emergency and requesting consideration for a refund of just the cleaning fee and taxes - since no one was going to be staying in the house and it wouldn't need to be cleaned, the Property Management Co replied with their refund policy and that nothing could be refunded. They were straight-forward and impersonal with no recognition of the circumstances. We learned a valuable lesson with booking, insurance, and the realization that the "personal" and "by owner" elements that drew us to VRBO several years ago have changed.

Good stay till one bathroom closed
Good stay till one bathroom closed
We had a good experience with this property until we lost the 2nd bathroom due to a dispute with a neighbor who claimed the waterline was tapped into theirs and they capped it off during our stay. Nine of us came home after a long day for graduation at the base to find one bathroom with no water then the neighbor showed up. It was a huge inconvenience to have 9 adults to shower in one bathroom. I notified owner and they apologized but I would have appreciated some sort of refund offered for all the stress it caused at the end of our trip. Other than that, it was fine. The shower was good, the beds were very comfortable and ample room to sleep. Not fancy but functional. Very clean inside.
