Not great, but friendly staff.

Family run guest house. Staff were undeniably friendly.

Dreadful decor & furnishings. The curtains in the room were torn to shreds, not up to even the most modest hotel standard. Shower unit was ineffective and looked like an electrocution risk.

Very poor

Rooms were dirty and noisy. The hotel is at the end of a very long, dark alley. I wouldn't recommend walking alone. Expensive for the quality of the experience.

This hotel is great! The room was super comfy. The typical breakfast was good. I extended my stay!

They were hair in the sink! Except that, it was all clean.

Is dripping water from the sink in the bathroom and it's no hot water. There is a lot of noise because a roof full of dogs barking all night

looks like they didn't want to make an effort to honor the booking and just got rid of us

we had to cancel as a suggestion from the hotel manager so we didn't stay there

we had to cancel the reservation because there were issues with the parking spaces and they couldn't arrange any other space for us, so they suggested to cancel the reservation and book another hotel with no parking problems

Dirty

The room was not clean and the shower looked like we were going to be executed, there were wires all over the place and the shower-cap had a plastic bag over it. The room smelled like fungus. We left early and went to another hotel. don’t go here! Staff was nice though.

It is very easy to get there when you arrive by bus, a quiet alley but without noise insulation so you hear very loudly what is happening on the street

Don't expect much from breakfast, in an inactive place on the main street

Super lovely owners need to address sewerage smell at night.

The location was really great and as a single woman traveling I felt very safe. The owners were lovely and helpful super nice people and they looked after my luggage after check out till I left later in the day It took a while to find the breakfast place not only for me but also for another lady I met staying in the same hotel

The breakfast was sad, eggs ok but it was all microwaved including the coffee which tasted like it was made the day before. The hotel was ok but needs a paint job. The bed was too close to the door so you could not open the balcony door properly. Very Vey Very BAD STENCH OF SEWERAGE AT NIGHT Could not have the balcony door open the smell still came in the room. The smell was really bad, I was in the front of the hotel 3rd floor with a balcony.

Crap Wi-Fi! One night is plenty!

Perfect for one night stay only as bed isn’t comfy and curtains are too short for windows so let light in

Overpriced for what it was, Wi-Fi didn’t work in room only in hallway. We had to leave early for shuttle and the hotel said they couldn’t accommodate a ‘takeaway or early breakfast’ which was a shame as it was included in our booking we just need to leave promptly in the morning.

Doesn’t live up to my standards.

I hate to say it, but it just wasn’t good enough for what I paid. The mattress was fine though and the room is spacious.

Bed sheets were incomplete (missing a sheet to cover the mattress), old towels, no hot shower. The shower is quiet dangerous and I got a couple of electric shocks. Not okay for this price. I know it’s not a 5 star hotel, but for this price I really expect better.

the staff was very kind

there was stain on the sheets, the shower pump was disgusting (i dind’t even take a shower because of that), there is no light in the stairs and there was no toilet paper.

very pleasant.

Friendly and helpful staff. Huge room. High ceilings. I came back and a week later to buy a shuttle ticket and they let me drop by bag there to go and buy something in town.

Shower water not very hot. Rooms are dated but that is part of the charm. Long walk up an alley to get to it but that means that it is queit.

Really enjoyed my stay at Hotel El Amigo - the breakfast was really nice and it was close to the main streets in town.

I loved the balcony and friendliness of the family. It was also great that they got my room ready a bit earlier as I arrived before check in - I really appreciated that.

Exceptional

El Amigo is a family hotel whose owners are very friendly and helpful. They can arrange a transfer by shuttle to Antigua or Guatemala City at a good price. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and if one day I go again to Panajachel, this will be my place to tay.

Nice space and quiet but beware of cold showers

It was quiet

Everything else. Shower was broken, no hot water, dirty bed that my friend stayed in, and the terrace wasn't open

not much. the staff were nice

old, run down, damp. no hot water!!! I waited for a while hoping it would get warm, nope. no blankets, pillows feel like they have rocks. luckily I only stayed one night
