About this cottage rental

The Granary can sleep up to 6. Ground floor is open plan with a beautiful picture window replacing the original barn doors. The lounge area which is comfortably & tastefully furnished with quality pine furniture and 3 piece suite leads to a fully fitted kitchen containing electric cooker, fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave and all necessary utensils. There is one bedroom doenstairs with adult sized bunk beds and upstairs there are two further bedrooms. The main bedroom has zip & link beds so that you have the choice of two single beds or one kingsized bed, (please state preference when booking), we also have a travel cot available if required. The second bedroom has twin beds (these cannot be joined together). All bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished with quality divan beds. The bathroom is also on the first floor and contains bath, separate shower unit, washbasin & wc.

Situated on a quiet country lane, peace & tranquillity are guaranteed and you may catch a glimpse of our resident barn owls. A short walk away, the Leeds-Liverpool canal provides fishing and delightful walks in both directions and is dotted with charming country inns providing sustenance for the needy!. The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Martin Mere is just 2 miles away and the elegant seaside resort of Southport can be reached in 10 minutes. Just 7 miles from jct 27 of M6, all the north west's popular destinations are within easy reach.

Built over a century ago, these former farm buildings have been tastefully and professionally converted to provide comfortable, modern, easy care facilities whilst still retaining many of the original features.

The Dairy, The Shippon & The Granary all lie around an enclosed cobbled courtyard. Ranging in size, each has its own distinctive style & character. With full central heating, available for long or short stays all year round. Our latest cottage, 'The Stable', is fully accessible for disabled guests with specially adapted en-suite wet room and has its own private drive.

All cottages have flat screen TV, & dvd player plus large assortment of books and games. The fitted kitchens are fully equipped with electric cooker, automatic washing machine, fridge/freezer and microwave plus all necessary kitchen utensils and equipment. Each cottage also has a patio area with table & chairs for 'al fresco' dining and a large garden and play area for the children.
Electricity, bed linen and towels are all included at no extra cost. Travel cot, high chair and safety gate are all available if required. We are no smoking establishment and do not accept pets.

Our reasons for staying were sad – the funeral of my Dad in nearby Southport. But the lovely accommodation in a peaceful location helped the occasion enormously, enabling us to relax and taking away a layer of stress. Special thanks to the owners for their flexibility and generosity in meeting our needs. We all loved staying in The Granary, and we hope to visit again as a family in happier moments.

We stayed 2 nights for a family wedding - 6 adults and 4 children across 2 Cottages. The cottages had everything we needed and the garden was an added bonus with the children. Everything was clean and welcoming. The beds were very comfortable. Lovely countryside location.

We stayed for 2 nights in October visiting family nearby - Philip welcomed us and showed us around even though we were much later than expected - the cottage was very spacious and very clean and comfortable - even better than the photos show! Well equipped kitchen and lots of toys and games available which was a big bonus as my children were kept entertained whilst we were there,

We stayed from Sunday to Saturday in October. We immediately felt it was a welcoming cottage, with a large bright living room and two big sofas. We were able to visit the beach at Formby, Windmill animal farm (twice!), the wetlands, Rivington Pike etc with ease. Lovely Booths supermarket was very close too.

What a find, a lovely little cottage beautifully and tastefully furnished, clean and cosy,in peaceful countryside. Owners friendly without being overpowering, and nothing too much trouble, even offering the ability to charge our plug in hybrid car, an unexpected and much appreciated bonus, and loaning the cable. By far the best equipped cottage we have ever stayed in, everything we could possibly want was provided, the perfect base to visit our daughter in Liverpool,the coast, parks and gardens.
