You can't get any closer to the ocean & the sound of the waves will melt away your stress. Wuthering Dunes has been renovated with new flooring, updated fixtures, as well as furniture additions! We have given our home a facelift to make your Outer Banks getaway even more restful & relaxing. The spectacular views from this well-maintained oceanfront home are beyond compare! The beaches were also widened in 2022 as part of the beach nourishment project, which gives you even more room to enjoy.
Our home is a beautifully constructed 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath haven from the stresses of daily life. Head upstairs to the third level to find a spacious bedroom sanctuary with a private bath including a jetted tub, shower, and double vanity. This room also has 2 private decks, one ocean facing and the other sound facing for incredible sunrise and sunset opportunities! Another unique feature is a two story wall of windows on the oceanfront that ensure breathtaking views in every direction. Beamed cathedral ceilings lend character and plenty of natural lighting.
The main level living space is open, with adjoining great room, kitchen, and dining areas. The large kitchen is fully stocked for the chef in your group with newer appliances, granite countertops, and plenty of cabinet storage. An all seasons room is accessible through sliders with more ocean and sound views. Four more bedrooms and 2 more full bathrooms with double vanities are on the first level to house the rest of your group.
Our romantic oceanfront home is a perfect choice for vacationers with its proximity to shopping, restaurants, arts, sightseeing, boating, fishing, bird watching, jet skiing, surfing, kite boarding & eco tours; many are in walking distance! Plus you have full access to the Olympic sized pool at Kinnakeet shores. The beds are all freshly made for your arrival. Everything you need, right here in paradise! The biggest decision for you is which deck to enjoy drinks from while you watch dolphins play and enjoy the ocean views.
We have a fully equipped kitchen that joins the dining room, with island seating in between. Included are dishes, cookware, cutlery, barware, & glassware for your every culinary need. They do a fantastic job of making sure everything is done during a very short window. Check-out time is 10 am and departure instructions are included in your welcome letter and are also located on the refrigerator. Check-in time is set for 4 pm to allow them the time they need to prepare the home for your arrival.
We understand that there are times when you may need an early check-in time. We are happy to offer guaranteed early check-in if you have confirmed & paid for this additional service 2 weeks prior to arrival. This payment allows us to compensate our house staff for prioritizing our home for your early arrival at 1 pm. We had planned an end-of-year getaway to decompress and this house was the perfect solution. Located right on the water, it had great views, plenty of room to spread out, and was conveniently located to restaraunts, bakeries and a grocery store. The house was clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the deck provided wonderful views of the dolphins, pelicans and other beach life.

House is absolutely gorgeous inside. Incredibly spacious, clean, just stunning! Huge primary suite and great-room. The ocean views from from every level are perfect! Very close to Hatteras light house, 4WD beaches, The Point, and more. Great shelling and fishing with miles of unspoiled beach front. Incredibly close to grocery stores, restaurants, beach shops, etc. More laid back rural vibe compared to the Corolla/Carova area where we normally stay. Avon seems like the place to be for fishing! We had a great time and would rent this beautiful home again without hesitation.

This was our first time staying in OBX and we were immediately taken with the beautiful views from the property and the great, uncrowded beach! We were a family of 10 including 6 adults and 4 children and this property is well suited to a large family. The kitchen is well equipped and the living area has plenty of comfortable seating. There is a separate private porch room that is perfect for those that needed to work. There are plenty of kids beach toys and chairs and we found Island Cycle Rentals that had a great beach shade tent that we rented for only $55 for the week. The location of the property was perfect for Avon as it was peaceful and yet a short walk to the pool (not crowded at all due to the fact that many kids were already back in school). Really close to grocery, bakery and restaurants too. It could use a deep cleaning but I realize that since we were there in mid-August we were seeing the remnants of a summer of constant rentals. The property is fairly priced and the manager was very responsive. Bottom line is that the location, layout and amenities in this house make it a great choice for large families.

The house has 7 televisions. One in every bedroom , the main living space and one in the extra porch room, however only three of them had a working connection.

This property was amazing! The views are out of this world, and the binoculars were an extra fun touch! The entire back half of the house is glass, so you can see for miles. There was so much there to accommodate the guests. Just bring your food, and you are all set! Would definitely recommend the property!

4 adult couples traveled from Northwest Wisconsin to the Wuthering Dunes on a bucket list vacation. We were very satisfied with this home, it was just as advertised, just yards from the ocean. Areca was excellent to work with, quickly responding to our questions when we arrived. She took the time to suggest local attractions and restaurants knowing we didn't want to do too much additional driving! This was a lovely place for a layed back visit to the ocean.

This is a fabulous property. We were five friends over 60 years old so the five bedrooms and wonderful common areas were perfect. The seating was comfortable and plentiful, and it was nice to have a dining table where we all could easily share a meal.
More than anything, the decks overlooking the ocean on every level were the highlight. We saw dolphins and one morning half a dozen deer wandered by on the beach.
This house has a large, well-equipped kitchen which is good since during off-season there were not many options for dining out. The Food King is within walking distance and there’s an ABC store in Buxton. We found a little seafood market in Hatteras called Harbor Seafood Market that we highly recommend. We also recommend the Cockeyed Clam. It was pricey but the food was fantastic.
Areca was wonderful! She made sure we had everything we needed, touched base with us daily and was charming.
Withering Dunes more than met our needs. We definitely would consider coming back here.

The host was very communicative. The home is as described - clean, spacious, beachfront, beautiful, and comfortable. No surprises were encountered, which is what you want when booking over the internet. The beach views are excellent, we even saw a small pod of dolphins! Ample living space for my family to spread out and then come together for food and games. Very convenient location and within walking distance of a grocery store.

The house was very clean & well maintained. It lives up to the pictures online. I don’t think you could be any closer to the ocean. Areca was great! Checked in on us multiple times.
My wife and I took our 3 daughters and 4 of their friends. All 17-22. Plenty of room in the house for the 9 of us. This was our 1st trip to the Outer Banks but, it won’t be our last. The beaches are beautiful. The kids swam in the ocean everyday, despite being the end of October. The hot tub was a hit after a swim.
The house is Within walking distance to Food Lion grocery store. Not overpriced, well stocked. Couple of restaurants in the same plaza.

The location of this beach house is absolutely perfect if you want unobstructed views of the beach, and easy access to the nearby stores and restaurants. The 6 adults and 3 kids in our family all managed comfortably in our bedrooms, and loved the open primary floor layout (big kitchen, dining room, and living space) with full ceiling to floor views of the beach.

Epic Vacation
My family (5 of us) stayed here Memorial Day week. The weather was perfect and hot. Luckily the house has great ac. There was plentiful room and every room has a view. We fished on the beach and went ghost crab hunting at night. A great getaway.

Beautiful beach front stay!
This property was stunning! The house is right on the beach which made for great sunrises. There is plenty of outdoor seating, so just sitting and listening to the waves was very relaxing. There is enough space to comfortably fit 12 people, so our party of 5 had room to spread out. The dishes had quite a few smudges where the dishwasher didn't clean properly, but that was the only negative! There is a grocery store and coffee shops close by, so a quick run to the store was very easy. We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic beach front property!
Our group had an absolutely amazing time at this beach house. We did a Friendsgiving beach trip, and it was all that we could ask for. Being right on the ocean was a dream and we thoroughly enjoyed the views and being able to walk right onto the beach. The kitchen was perfect for our group to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner - we had plenty of space to all be working around eachother. It was also really nice to be so close to the grocery store and walking distance to coffee. Overall, we would definitely recommend this house and would love to return.

We opted for a last minute quick 5 day get away to take away the blues of a cancelled cruise that we were doing for my 50th BD. The dates were flexible and did not need to be 7 days ( ex. Sat-Sat, Sun-Sun) like many places. I am not sure if this is just because it was off season but it worked for our plan. The pictures on VRBO do not do this place justice. It is an open concept but still felt home like. The perks of the balconies on each level with access from each room and outside access from level to level was AWESOME. You could roll out of bed and be on deck in a flash and not disturb anyone else in the house. The loft suite was great. We were there during a full super moon and being able to lay back in bed and star gaze through the windows and have the moonlight in your room was so cool. This was the first visit to OBX/Avon and we are talking of staying here again!The host was very quick with communications via email and while staying through texts. They were on their delayed (stinking virus) honeymoon and still checked in to see if we needed anything. I had also given permission to them to speak with one of the guest coming with me because they were planning a surprise and needed help. He said that the communication was awesome too.Only complaint..my employer wouldn't give anymore vacation time and money to stay there longer once we arrived. LOL
