Loved our time at the cabin. Georges Pond is a very clear lake. The neighborhood is quite and we really enjoyed the peacefulness. Bar Haror and Acadia National Park are about 30 minutes away. We also visited Lubec (eastern most US town) and rented ATVs for a day in the Sunshine Trail.
Highly recommend!

Cute cabin with a fantastic view. It's close to Acadia National Park as well as many hiking trails. We enjoyed watching and listening to the loons and bald eagles while sitting on the deck. We're so glad we chose this cabin!

I stayed at this cabin with my girlfriend. The property was as represented on Vrbo. It was clean and peaceful, and the location was perfect for our day trips to Acadia and up and down the coast from there. The canoe and kayaks were fantastic to enjoy time on the lake in our evenings and mornings. The outside porch was great for lounging, the BBQ allowed a nice change for dinner, and the sunroom was perfect for relaxing. Don and Regina were very responsive when we had questions and made sure our stay was comfortable and everything was as advertised. I can't speak to how it would be for a family, but if you are a couple looking for a great base of operations or just a relaxing place to stay you will not be sorry with this selection.

Everything was clean, cozy, and as described. Lake view was amazing and a short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We spent five nights here and I couldn’t be happier!

The Cabin was clean and cozy for lounging. The porch area was our favorite place to relax. The views of George’s Pond were lovely, especially the sunsets! Bathroom was clean and roomy. Kitchen was stocked well for preparing meals. The grill was clean and we used it one night and it worked great. We were very happy the cabin had live TV and not just limited to streaming (which we don’t use). We like watching wildlife and we’re happy you had binoculars! We also loved canoeing around the lake. So pretty!!
Our vehicle was luckily AWD which was good considering the incline of the parking area plus having a torrential rainstorm Sat night! Fortunately we did not lose power (flickered a bit) and no damage occurred to cabin or our vehicle.
Overall, our stay was very pleasant and it was sad to leave. Our only negative experience was the mattress. It was extremely hard & uncomfortable. The middle area was sunken and annoying when trying to sleep. I suffer with spinal issues and it was impossible for me to sleep very well.
We enjoyed our trip to beautiful Maine and hope to return again in the future. Thank you for sharing your cozy cabin.

Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary was important to us in more ways than one. This was our first vacation alone in the 27 years we have been together. We were in search of something special and found it in Franklin Maine. The cottage was the perfect setting for a week of relaxing and reconnecting. The owners were very accommodating and welcoming. We could not have asked for a more perfect place to spend our week. We are already planning for next year.

My boyfriend and I spent five days at Don and Regina's camp in Franklin. The property was well maintained and in a beautiful location on pristine Georges Pond. The deck provided a beautiful view of the lake and a great spot for eating breakfast, bird watching, and yoga. We brought our beach chairs and set them up on the end of the dock so we could dip our toes in the water. The weather was great during our stay, with temperatures in the mid-80s. We took the kayaks around the lake and the water was warm enough to go for a swim. We couldn't believe how clear the water was! In the evenings we made use of the firepit and were able to stargaze and admire the Milky Way! We loved listening to the loons and the owls at night. I was also glad to have a reliable internet connection as I needed to bring my laptop to work during part of our stay. The screened-in porch overlooking the water was the perfect spot.
We picked this location because of its proximity to Acadia National Park (only about 35-40 minutes away) and spent a few days traveling back and forth. We were close enough to the park but far enough away to avoid a lot of the other tourists. Ellsworth was the next closest town to Franklin where we found some great restaurants and grocery stores to meet our needs.
We wish we had more time to stay and enjoy this wonderful property. Thank you Don and Regina for sharing it with us.

If I could give this retreat another star I would! This was my wife and my 15 year anniversary get away. When we arrived it was lightly raining. This was a perfect setting as we walked straight down to the lake and enjoyed the sound of the soft patter on the water. The retreat was exactly as described, inside and out. We enjoyed canoeing, loon watching, kayaking and camp fires in the evening. We loved how we were close enough to the action, but far enough away that we could enjoy the tranquil bliss of nature. Our only complaint is that we could not stay longer.
Thank you Don and Regina for hosting! You have a little slice of Heaven! We enjoyed our time there!

This cabin, was truly a piece of heaven. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, this is it! We enjoyed sitting on the deck, paddling around Murch Island. We were fortunate enough to see 2 eagles and a family of Loons, that we could hear even throughout the night. This was a very enjoyable and comfortable place to enjoy our week!
Thank you, for everything ❤️

We had a great time watching a loon family of 3 that always seemed to be right out front. Their song is beautiful and very soothing. Cabin had all we needed and more. Owner was very helpful and friendly

Lovely cabin fully equipped. Easy access from Ellsworth. Cabin sits right on Georges Pond. Fast dependable internet. Had a storm that fried the modem and tower. The owners were quick to respond and had new equipment installed the next day, Owners are lovely friendly couple. I would stay again at this property. Would recommend this to friends and family.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our week-long stay. The cabin was just perfect! The loons called to us everyday. We loved using the kayaks. We saw an eagle up close, on the far side of Murch Island, while kayaking around the island. We felt that the cabin location was perfect, not too far from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, yet not too close to the crowds. We really enjoyed the Schoodic Peninsula section of Acadia as it was quite less crowded compared to the MDI section. The host of the cabin was kind and considerate. A nice person, for sure! We never wanted for anything. My husband and I highly recommend this rental property!

The photos depicted the property perfectly. It felt like we were staying a a "Maine Cabin Masters" home. We enhoyed the quiet of the neighborhood. Watched loons and ducks, and an occasional turtle. The screened in porch was our favorite place to view the pond. We used the canoe and had a wonderful time. We liked the location as it was easy to get to Bar Habor and Ellsworth. We would recommended this location to pur friends amd family. We were very surprised about the access to high speed internet services that could easily accommodate remote workers.

This cabin was cozy with a beautiful setting on the lake. The morning and evening views out the back were spectacular! The easy 30 minutes to Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula allowed for coastal site seeing.

The cabin was great for us. Loved being on the water and seating on the deck. The kayaks were fun. Paddled around the pond which where we live would be called a lake. Georges Pond is beautiful. Saw an eagle and loons. Very quiet. Not too many people on the pond.
The cabin had everything we needed.
Thanks to the owners for sharing their oasis.

Very nicely updated and decorated while remaining semi-rustic. Very comfortable and had everything you need to enjoy your stay. Hosts are super. We spent a week and although the weather wasn’t always perfect, the cabin, location and lake was. Enjoyed using the kayaks and listening to the lions calling each other. Highly recommend!

We loved the cabin! Fishing right off the dock was fun. We also used the kayaks and paddled around George’s pond. Hope to come back again sometime soon!

Host contacted me before arrival which was very much appreciated. Nicely updated in and out with new deck overlooking the water. Newer appliances worked great. Gas stove was a pleasure to cook on, just w/o burning anything the smoke detector would go off, so recommend moving that. Brand new grill; it looked like it was used once before so worked perfectly. Plenty of hot water and while the bathroom was good sized, the shower was small, but great water pressure. Beautiful lake front location. I was on a working vacation so sat on the screened porch almost all day everyday (was there for 2 weeks) and enjoyed the views and quiet. Lake is crystal clear and was relatively warm while we were there. While there are houses around the lake it doesn’t feel crowded and boat traffic was minimal, maybe 5-6 boats and about the same number of jet skis each day with people enjoying cruising, water skiing and tubing. So really no one on the lake including the weekends. Lake is small at less than 400 acres and a bit shallow with many rocks close to or just at the surface most of which are not marked, so if you are boating you need to be cautious. A cool feature of the lake is an area with a large boulder sticking out of the water where a diving board and flag pole with an American flag has been installed. Awesome. And did I mention the extremely comfortable Lazy Boy type recliners and couch? Only real downside was that there is no table for eating in the house. It is only on the screened in porch so as long as the weather is good and you eat dinner early, no problem. We were there the beginning of Aug. and there were some nights where for us, it was too cold. Also, we eat late. If you use the porch at night, especially to eat and have the ceiling light on, within 30 minutes there are loads of bugs flying around it. Screens are new and all worked fine so I’m not sure how to fix that. Also found blueberries at the end of the road and using the camp supplied cooking facilities and utensils we baked up some fresh blueberry muffins with enough blueberries left over for cereal and pancakes. As I said, we were there for two weeks and sad to go.

Quiet and relaxing! Very nice
We loved staying here. So smooth everything about it. No issues at all. We arrived late evening and did not have time to stop at the store for food etc but we were saved by the coffee pods in the morning that were there already! The little things right? Listening and watching the loons on the lake, sunset over the lake, the kayaks.. very peaceful. The pond is not over busy and everyone is very quiet so easy to enjoy peacefulness. Fully stocked kitchen cooking supplies pots pans cups dishes. All you need is your clothes and food! Thank you for everything!

Wonderful stay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It was delightful to return to this quaint, quiet cabin after days of exploring around and in Acadia. We loved being able to sit at the table and enjoy the beautiful water. Don and Regina were very accommodating when our travel plans unexpectedly changed. We couldn’t imagine a better experience. Thank you!

Fantastic cabin stay
This was a gem of a find. Cabin was spotless and beautiful, postures on a lake complete with serenading loons. Plenty of space for the two of us, lots of wonderful touches—our only regret was leaving. Thank you to our hosts for a fabulous, comfy stay!

Perfect cabin on lake anniversary
Our stay was wonderful. Don & Regina had everything available you would need to stay. I can’t think of one item I should have brought along bc everything was provided. We had beautiful weather during the peak of fall foliage. The kayaks and canoe were an added bonus, relaxing way to spend day after hiking. The close proximity to Acadia National Park was great. It allowed for us to spend everyday there but be away from the tourist areas of Bar Harbor. We look foreword to heading back next year and bringing our kids along. Thank you both!

The cabin is in a beautiful, relaxing setting. The kitchen is stocked with everything you might need. Best kitchen in any rental we've been in to date. We saw lots of wildlife: chipmunks, otters, eagles, loons, and ducks. My husband fished twice a day. We stayed for two weeks. It was a most relaxing vacation. We would definitely stay here again.

Tranquility
Having vacationed to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor many times through out the decades and staying on Georges Pond several times, we find ourselves going home once again with picture perfect memories. Don and Regina host a very welcoming and cozy property. We enjoyed morning coffee with a family of three otters swimming by foraging for their breakfast...as curious about us as we were about them; viewing eagles soaring above while kayaking; loons drifting about peacefully singing their songs well into the night while we sat around a campfire toasting marshmallows. Acadia NP is always an adventure with something new to discover! Hikes, bicycling and amazing landscape visuals. Bar Harbor, as always, a delight!

My husband and I chose the property because it was close to Acadia (30-40 min), but far enough to get that ‘away from it all’ feel. The weather didn’t let us enjoy the water sports on the lake, but the sunsets were spectacular! The cabin itself is all updated and offers everything you need and then some. The hosts, Don and Regina, were awesome and quick to reply with general questions. Definitely a place we’ll return to, don’t hesitate, book this property!

Beautiful cabin on lake
Had an amazing time at this beautiful cabin on the lake. It was nice and relaxing, and catching fish from the lake was a lot of fun. Also was only around 30 mins to bar harbor and Acadia. What a great time, and will be back again!!!

Our vacation was wonderful at Black Bear Cottage. We really enjoyed kayaking and swimming in the lake and watching the sunsets every night from the dock was definitely a highlight. The new deck was also a great place to have coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening as we looked out onto the lake. The recommended Schoodic Mountain Trail was incredible and offered gorgeous views that made it worth the hike. The cabin's proximity to Acadia was also a great bonus. The Keurig was a nice touch! Overall, we had an amazing vacation and this cabin was the perfect little home away from home. Thank you for a lovely stay!
