About this house rental

This private historic cottage (c. 1850) is located in the heart of historic downtown New Bern and steps away from shopping, dining, and the waterfront. The cottage was originally a law office and sits on the property of the historic Coor-Cook residence (c. 1790), listed on the New Bern Architectural Walking Tour.

Guests have access to the entire cottage- one bedroom with queen-sized bed. Full bathroom. Eat-in kitchen. Separate living room. WiFi. Onsite parking for 1 vehicle.

Please note:
-there is an active train track on Hancock Street. The train comes by most days and some nights. It does not blow a horn.
-the cottage sits next to our family residence which includes two very friendly cats who roam the property.
-guests do not have access to the backyard of the main house; however, the cottage has its own small front yard space with a patio table and two chairs.
-both the cottage and the main house next door are historic structures that require ongoing exterior routine maintenance and repairs (wood rot repair, painting, etc.). Host will make every attempt to limit the disruption this may cause guests, but guests should be aware prior to booking.

This Cottage is very special. I hope we can return again. My husband and I had a great weekend. It was peaceful and quiet. Very relaxing. The weather was so nice, and we walked to most places enjoying the spring flowers and the history of New Bern.

This was a weekend getaway for us and the place was just what we were hoping for. It was very clean, very convenient to local restaurants and places of interest. Jessica, our host, checked in on us several times but everything we needed she had already provided. We would recommend this property and we would love to stay here again.

Cottage close to town and river walk . Perfect for 2 people. Enjoy seeing/hearing train a few times a day right out front. Owner right next door if need anything at all. Washer dryer nice.

Accessibility to all activities. Relaxing and fun weekend. Take the trolley tour to learn so much about this 300+yr old town. Very historic! Our cottage was delightful in all ways- just as described and photographed. Even the train coming thru town is so charming and unusual. We’ve discovered New Bern and will be frequenting this sweet town.

We were staying overnight in New Bern on our way further south. The cottage was perfect for what we wanted. Right in town 5min walk to main center. Cottage has everything you will need (including a kitchen). Jessica was an excellent host, sent detailed instructions and even when we arrived a little earlier than the entry time she was very accommodating. Whether you are looking for a short or long term stay the cottage is perfect for 2 If we are back in the area we will rent again without hesitation

The cottage was very quaint, comfortable and convenient. We stayed for 4 days and just parked the car. Everything was within waking distance. We had the opportunity to meet Jessica and enjoyed talking to her and getting her recommendations for places to eat, etc. Will definitely book here again if we are in the area.

The location was convenient for downtown New Bern. A few good places to eat or get a drink. We could not walk due to weather but had a great time anyway. Wife and I needed a short getaway, and this fit the bill just fine.

We had a wonderful stay in this historic cottage. Located in the center of town with easy access to the invigorated New Bern downtown, the place is charming as can be. While historic in nature, everything about this place is modern on the inside. New, comfortable furnishings are everywhere. A bright, efficient kitchen is fully furnished. The place was spotless and comfortable. A great place to spend time if you are looking to enjoy historic New Bern.

This is the second time we stayed at the Cottage. As hosts, you can't beat Jessica and Matt. They make everything perfect for your stay and for us the location is PERFECT. We are big time walkers and love being able to stay in the heart of the Historic District. We have already rebooked for a fall visit.

Such a great little cottage and the history...my goodness!!! Clean, represented as stated, comfy bed, and super friendly owner :) The cottage is within walking distance of town (which is the cutest and the friendliest). We were able to walk everywhere - but take the trolley tour for fun and learn about New Bern. We were able to meet Jessica and chat a bit as the train went by in the morning (so awesome, we love trains!!!!) Thank you for everything, checking in on us, and having the cutest cottage around!!!!

This is the absolute best place to stay in New Bern! The cottage is pristine, very well decorated and maintained, plus in a very quiet location. Extra comfy bed and great shower (two things we always look for.). The cottage is centrally located to anything you’d want to see in downtown New Bern. I have already recommended this place to friends and neighbors. Will definitely be back!

We had two lovely days in New Bern although the weather was overcast and at times drizzly…Our cottage stay was great. A comfy bed, plenty of space to spread out and a terrific location. Our hosts were accessible and checked with us periodically to make sure we had what we needed. Lovely stay in a charming historic village.

In residential neighborhood so no car needed for town with exception to groceries, ymca and pharmacy. Local health food store has some food choices/drinks however. Loved staying in cute small cottage. Will return.

This place is adorable!! Immaculate!! The bed and pillows are soooo comfy! They have a smart tv too, so you can use your own log-in credentials for apps that you may have, and they included a guest-log-in for their own personal Netflix account. Only complaint is that they only have 2 small refrigerators, and no ice maker (the ice trays do not fully freeze over just one night). So you would want to bring a cooler with ice if needed for your stay. Close enough to walk downtown for shopping, dining and breweries. Super friendly hosts, too!
