Sail away to "Almost Heaven", a charming cottage just across the street from the Atlantic nestled in on Myrtle Avenue. This pet-friendly single-family home has everything you need to make you feel at home on the island. While the cottage is a Kure Beach classic, "Almost Heaven" features updated furniture and appliances mixed in with antique charms and a cozy feel that will make it tough to admit that your vacation will ever come to an end.
Relax in the shade on the screened-in front porch and wave at the folks strolling by, or take in some sun and a little more privacy in the fenced in back yard. Inside the home, the living room leads to the open dining and kitchen area. The front bedroom has a Full bed and shares a short hall with a bunk bedroom (Twin over Full bed) and a full bathroom. The primary bedroom has a Full bed and a sliding glass door leading to the back yard, and the bathroom features a large walk-in shower with beautiful custom tile work. This is a clean, classic, and comfy little cottage that will be sure to bring you back year over year.
By walking just a short bit, you have both Carolina and Kure Beach accesses points available! Also while in the area, be sure to check out the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, where you will find shops, restaurants and the summer activities such as fireworks, carnival rides and live music. Location and actual house were amazing. Had a awesome screened in porch and a sweet patio with lights in a secluded back yard. The grill could be in better condition, was barely able to hold charcoal and seemed to be broken other than grilling grates. Also the beach equipment provided was mostly broken. This did not impact a wonderful stay though, it was still a awesome spot that im definitely saving for a future visit.

The front porch swings were unusable, way too low to the ground. The sofa was tiny and disgustingly dirty. I put a blanket down before allowing the kids to sit down. No privacy curtains in the back bedroom and no lamps in the bedrooms. I paid over $600 a night for this crap and incredibly disappointed.

The beach equipment was broken, the washing machine was moldy, and the front screen door was broken. The mattresses were not comfortable. I passed these along to the rental company managing the property. Overall, though, it was clean, pleasant and in a great location.

Everything was wonderful, really enjoyed our stay. Really enjoyed relaxing on the front porch. Outdoor shower was very convenient. We would have loved to take advantage of the picnic table during dinner, but we were disappointed the string lights didn’t work. Overall, great location and was very quaint. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Family Vacation
This location was even better than expected. We have a 4 year old and an 8 month old. The rooms were set up great for them. We loved the beach access directly across the street. We also had an issue with the hinges on the outdoor shower, this was taken care of very quickly. The maintenance also fixed another small side door issue that we didn’t really notice/ask about. The description did not mention the beach chairs and wagon, which were an added bonus. We would absolutely recommend this location to anyone.

We enjoyed our stay at the property,it was decorated very nicely. The property outside could have used some cleaning and at first walking into the property there was an odor but it dissapated with time. The neighborhood was peaceful and had nice neighbors. Great location!

We drove by at 1:20 and nobody was there but it was too early to check in. We went to the store and came back at 2:20 and housekeeping was there. This was disappointing since we paid extra for early 2:00 check in but couldn’t get in then. Would not pay for early check in again. They also left a bag of dirty linens on the front porch all week. The house is very close to the beach and to the beach access. It was an easy walk. We used the nice chairs left by the owners. The front porch was the best place to be in the evenings. Very shady. The back bedroom tv would not work. It couldn’t get an internet connection or when it would it would freeze or buffer. We had no issues with streaming on the front bedroom tv or in the living room. I would suggest putting a larger bed in one of the bedrooms. The bathrooms were spacious with lots of counter space. Very quiet neighborhood and the beach wasn’t too crowded. We enjoyed dinner at Jack Mackerel’s, The Spot, and breakfast at Ocean View. We cooked dinner 2 nights in the nice kitchen. Would probably rent a golf cart if staying for a full week.

The location was great. The showers were nice. Although in one of the bedrooms, there was no box spring on the bed, so not so comfortable. Also, there were no instruction on tv and had to have rental company come out. All changers required new batteries. We were also charged 2 VRBO charges, one through Bryant Realty and one through VRBO and ended up being around $500. I was not aware of extra fee for 2nd dog (was not on overview), until after booking. I was okay with that, but wished it was listed, as other place I looked at had lower fee and should have been told about 2 VRBO charges on VRBO website too, before booking. There are "palmetto" bugs everywhere, especially in kitchen (counters, drawers, cabinets, walls). That was gross. I have using vacation rentals like this for over 10 years and never had a complaint, until now. I am not picky.

We stayed at Almost Heaven for three nights while buying a boat at a nearby marina. It is roomy and comfy, and a close walk to the beach. We loved the extra big showers, and well- stocked kitchen - but I enjoyed the decor the most. Interesting and fun artwork in every room: not overdone, but nicely placed on shelves and curio cabinets. Porch swings front and back, and a nice picnic table. Lots of fun extras - we loved it.

We enjoyed our stay here. The backyard with its gazebo was a perfect place for our dog and us to hang out. Our only problem is that we are tall and the full-sized beds are too small for two people! That was our fault for not scoping the property better. I would certainly recommend it otherwise.
