Warm and cozy home with green space on three sides for privacy close to all amenities Massanutten Resort has to offer. Enjoy beautiful views from all windows and glass doors from the inside and the beautiful decks & patio outside. This is the perfect vacation home that offers everything you could want. Meet other family members or friends for a reunion and enjoy three floors of living all with bedrooms, baths, and gathering areas. You have two family rooms, a loft, and a game room (with pool table and air hockey table) for hanging out together, and then you can each have privacy on one of the three floors, all with bedrooms & baths. Enjoy the luxury of oak hardwood floors, ceramic tile, granite & stainless steel in the kitchen, sky lights in two of the bathrooms, a huge soaking tub, gas fireplace (seasonal) in the great room and gas stove (seasonal) to keep the basement toasty on those snowy winter nights. Basement family room has entertainment center with flat screened TV, Xbox 360 Kinect (bring your favorite games), and DVD player with about 40 movies. It is furnished with comfortable leather furniture.

First Floor and loft: Enjoy first floor great room with high cathedral ceilings with floor to ceiling glass doors & windows to enjoy nature and views of the ski slopes all lit up. The family room has modern furniture for comfort while you enjoy the vented gas fireplace (seasonal) and large flat screen TV with extended programming. The fully-stocked kitchen and large dining table (seating for ten people) are in this same area for entertainment. There are two sets of sliding glass doors to a beautiful wrap around deck with nice furniture and a propane griddle. Down the hall is a full bathroom, a guest bedroom with comfortable queen bed, and then the gorgeous master bedroom suite with a king bed and huge bathroom with double sinks, large soaking tub and separate walk-in shower. It also has sliding glass doors to the rear deck. From the great room, look up and see a beautiful loft with a lovely antique table and sitting area with games, books & puzzles. Beyond the loft is a lovely queen bedroom with its own bathroom and walk in closet - very private & romantic.

This home is part of the Massanutten Property Owners Association (MPOA) and is governed by its rules and regulations, as well as federal and state laws and local ordinances. There are short-term rentals in all MPOA neighborhoods, but people also live here. Your nearby neighbors may be full-time residents, including families with children, retirees, or owners of second homes enjoying their retreat. Please respect their privacy and property rights, along with those of other guests in our private residential community.

NOISE

Noise that is unreasonable in the judgement of MPOA or its designated agent is prohibited at any time. Quiet Hours are between 10PM and 7AM.

PARKING

All tires must be off the roadway. DO NOT BLOCK FIRE HYDRANTS! Our private neighborhood roads are “highways” for law enforcement purposes per Rockingham County ordinance.
Do not park adjacent to any other homes or lots unless this home’s owner or property manager has told you he/she has explicit permission for you to do so.
Parking rules violators may be subject to having their vehicles towed.
If you cannot park all your vehicles on this property or on the adjoining shoulder of the road, overflow parking is available at the MPOA Owners’ Swimming Pool parking lot at 4007 Peak Drive.
NOTE: Buses, campers, and RV’s may not be parked at houses or along neighborhood roads. With prior MPOA approval, they may be parked in the overflow lot during your stay.

NO OPEN FIRES

You are in an area that is at risk for wildfire! NEVER leave any outdoor fire unattended.

ALCOHOL

Open containers of alcohol are prohibited on any road or common area.

PETS

Pets are not allowed to run at large. They must be leashed at all times when off this property.

Limited parking became an issue. We had 3 families staying and 4 cars. There wasn’t enough room in the driveway without parking on a very steep incline. We had to park on the road and then ran into issues with security. Otherwise it was perfect in every way.

This was a fantastic place for a combination mini-vacation and overnight family reunion hosting 12 people. As repeat visitors to Massanutten over many years, this destination was ideal for a family reunion with an overnight stay. My husband, young boys, and I arrived a few days early to settle in before the rest of our extended family joined us. For a family of four, it was incredibly spacious with picturesque views of the woods and surrounding mountains. The neighboring homes were quiet and the area was very peaceful. Grocery shopping was made easy upon arrival thanks to Instacart so we could avoid another trip out after a 4+ hour drive to the rental. The kitchen is well-appointed and designed for cooking meals along with the capacity to entertain a large group. Each morning we enjoyed coffee on the wrap-around deck, sometimes greeted by a family of deer nearby. The pleasing sounds of nature were a lovely acoustic companion to the fresh mountain air. The rental also includes a pool pass which is accessed by a 2-3 minute drive on the resort. The flat-top grill on the deck was yet another surprise which performed double-duty for dinner and serving up a large family breakfast following the reunion oversight stay with our loved ones. With a crowd of 12 (including 4 kids ages 5-17), everyone had plenty of space across 3 levels of the house, enjoying a very comfortable overnight visit. We enjoyed our stay here. Check in and check out was super simple. The house was clean and appropriately described. The kitchen had ample space for preparing meals. There were games and even toys for the baby. The high chair and crib worked great. We didn’t have any issues. Would stay here again and recommend to friends.

My family and I just stayed here this past month to go to the indoor waterpark. The location of this property was great, but the house needed a lot of work. There were several things broken in the home or about to fall apart. From exposed nails on the floor, holes in walls, pool sticks, and air hockey tables not working correctly. The property's cleanliness was poor and didn't seem to have been cleaned in awhile. I contacted the owner privately and expressed our concern with this house, and never did receive a response.

The location is great as it’s close to the ski area, grocery store and restaurants. We enjoyed meals and games at the large dining table. The house was clean, and we appreciated the K-cups provided. Some updating could make for a more comfortable stay. There wasn’t much room to store groceries. The bunk beds on the lower level were unstable and the mattresses were not comfortable. The shower door on the top floor bath was difficult to close. It was apparent others had issues as there is mold starting to appear around the caulking at the base. We couldn’t get the fireplace on the main floor or one of the TVs to work, but we didn’t contact anyone about it. At the end of our stay, we noted there were discrepancies with the online checkout instructions and the guest book in the house. When contacting the host, he was very quick to reply. We did enjoyed our stay and everyone had a great time. A few minor issues didn’t have a major impact on our vacation. Lynne

Kitchen, dining area, master bed are nice size. The lower area was great for our 4 grandkids: it has two bunk beds, a pool table, and air hockey. Their time at the home was spent in the lower level. The location was excellent. The only negative comment is about the family room. There was only a couch and a love seat. That was not nearly enough seating for a home that sleeps 12.

We rent a home annually for JMU parents weekend - and cleanliness is always #1 concern - this home could not be any cleaner - and all the TV's work as well (which is always a variable in Massanutten) - it has anything you could need - time for a few updates - screens to patio have holes and that type of thing - but overall great house

Overall the home is beautiful with a great layout and plenty of living and sleeping space. Decorating and furniture were all well done. The deer visited on a regular basis and we all enjoyed that. We booked this house for the family to celebrate JMU graduation. The house was spacious and very clean. Everyone said their beds were comfortable. The kitchen only had 2 wine glasses so if you have wine drinkers bring more. I luckily brought plastic cups that we used. The kitchen was missing a dish drain and only had a few dish towels which made hand washing dishes difficult. The dishwasher did most of the work but we needed a few things washed by hand to be used. If you want to share snacks, I would bring large bowls and platters as well. The deck was wonderful to sit on an enjoy the trees and stars. The house is about 25 minutes from JMU and it is an easy ride to campus. Overall it was a great weekend at the house.

The house was very comfortable, clean, and close to everything. Everyone enjoyed the air hockey table and the big dining room table to play board games. This is our second time staying here. We came up for a February ski weekend at Massanutten just like we did before, only this time it was really warm and the only place to find snow was what was left of the man-made stuff on the runs. Ugh. Not ideal for skiing and boarding. But no problem! This house supports all sorts of fun as we decided to alter our plans. We played board games (lots provided) plus played pool and air hockey on the tables downstairs. We also watched movies, cooked good food, slept in, took long baths and went on hikes. We also visited the nearby Massanutten Spa, miniature golf course, and the outdoor ice rink. Tons of fun! Who needs skiing?!? Staying here made all that possible and ensured we had a good time. It was truly a pleasant stay at the Cedar Chalet! No doubt we will be back… snow or no snow!
