About this house rental
We have been vacation rental owners in Harpers Ferry since 2009 (see VRBO 265656), and are committed to ensuring that our guests enjoy a comfortable and truly unique stay in one of the most historic and charming towns on the East Coast.
We acquired this charming new (200 year old!) house and spent 2020 completing renovations. Like our other downtown Harpers Ferry vacation rental, this 200 year old home is located in the heart of downtown Harpers Ferry and on top of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park. Restaurants, shops, hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail,) museums, and shops are quite literally feet away.
The front door of the house is off of the front porch at the top of the stairs (see pictures). Hang out on the front porch and enjoy the beautiful mountain views and the activity in town below you, or enter through the front door into a charming living room. Off of the living room you will find a fully-equipped eat-in kitchen with dining table for 6 plus 3 countertop stools and a half bath. Head up the stairs to the second floor where you will find 2 bright bedrooms (both with awesome views!), a full bath, and a super-cozy TV room. Exit out to the back patio from the TV room, and wander up the hill in the back yard to find an absolutely spectacular view of the Harpers Ferry Gap!
This truly is a one-of-a-kind house in an amazing location. OH...It also comes with a parking space (a HUGE bonus in Harpers Ferry!!). Please note that the parking space is located on Potomac Street, and you must climb 65 steps up to High Street where the house is located. Luggage drop-off is permitted any time except Saturday and Sunday between 11AM and 5PM. Also, please note that the stairs in this house are very steep! Please keep this in mind if you have trouble with stairs!

Great place great location… had a great time!

This is an excellent place to stay to experience Harper's Ferry. The historic section of the town, closest to the rivers is very small and has very few places to stay. This house is right in the midst of it with a great view overlooking the historic streets. The house itself is old, but well kept and clean. It feels as though you are part of the history during your stay. Bars and restaurants, although there are not too many right in town are within easy walking distance. The National Park itself is equally close, as are the rivers and walking trails. Having a parking space in Harper's Ferry is an amazing benefit, it is down the hill as described in the listing, but it really made the stay easy.

We only had time for a quick, two night stay. Ut this property is AMAZING! The Van Gogh theme does not disappoint, the whole house is super cozy, and it's in the heart of my favorite place on earth! We'll definitely be back!

Perfectly located, everything you need in walkimg distance. The home is old and really interesting. Its age added to the experience. We plan on visiting HF again in the Fall and will be booking it again.

The house was an excellent place for my family to stay during our visit to Harper's Ferry. It is conveniently located in downtown Harper's Ferry, and we enjoyed our visit.

We enjoyed our stay at this historic home in the middle of town. We loved sitting on the porch and we slept great both nights.

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful Harpers Ferry home. It was so amazing to stay in the historical area and be close and able to walk to all the National Park sites. We were most attracted to that lovely porch and enjoyed our coffee there in the early morning, watching the town come to life. We also liked afternoons reading and napping there and an evening glass of wine after dinner. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, the furniture and beds were very comfortable. We will certainly stay here again if our travels bring us back to Harpers Ferry.

This historic home is full of historical architecture while containing modern updates. The convenient location to Harper’s Ferry and food establishments across the street could not be beat. Those who have an affection for trains will enjoy the day and night rumblings and horns of trains going through the historic downtown area.

This was our third stay here and it was amazing as usual. Our only hiccup was with the vrbo app, Jill could send messages, but we couldn't reply. Aside from that, the house and location are fantastic, the fire place is so cozy, the kitchen is beautiful, the beds are comfy, and the tv is easy to navigate. It was sad to leave but we're excited to be back next year. Thank you Jill for being top notch, best host ever. ❤️

Our stay in Harper’s Ferry was wonderful. We were in the heart of it all. Everything we needed was right at our fingertips. We had delicious coffee at Battlegrounds, yummy lunch at the Rabbit Hole, shopping at Tenfold and hiking trails just a stones throw from our bnb. Jill’s place captures the charm ajo history of Harper’s Ferry. It has a comfortable ad cozy energy with updated modern conveniences. The kitchen was well stocked and organized. Comfortable beds and hot water at the ready. The views of the town and the mountains were beautiful. Jill is a great host with attentive communication. We enjoyed our time in this historic and unique location!

This was the perfect location if you are visiting Harpers Ferry with friends or family. You can see the entire town from sitting on the porch, or take a nighttime walk when it’s quiet down to all the sites. The biggest “downside” was the trains running through nearby woke everyone through the night, but I’m not sure that would be different at any other property nearby!

This was our second visit to Harper's Ferry and we were so excited to stay right in the historic lower town! The house was just as described and had all the amenities we needed for our short stay. It was great being so close to all the restaurants, shops, and historical stops. Also a bonus that we could bring our small dog. Thanks for a great stay and some fun memories!

The house is a beautiful, historic home located conveniently to all the shops and downtown Harper’s Ferry.
In the evenings, we enjoyed sitting out on the porch with a hot tea and relaxing while looking at the the stunning view. Definitely a must visit

Lookout Inn is exactly as advertised on VRBO. Right in town within walking distance to restaurants, hiking trails and shops. A great porch to watch town plus it includes a parking spot which is golden if you like to explore as we did. The bed was supper comfy, laundry on site and a grill for easy lunches or dinner. The owner, Jill, is always available if questions or issues come up. We'll definitely be back. 5 plus ✨

This is the 2nd time we stayed here. Great porch to enjoy your favorite beverage and watch tourists. Property was very clean and enjoyed the lovely town.

This property is incredible. Great location right across from all the shops and restaurants. Great mix of modern amenities and old-time experience. The interior design is thoughtful and makes for a cozy stay. Jill was very helpful and communicative. The front porch is very comfortable and relaxing. If you are sensitive to noise (which we are not) there is a train line that runs within ear shot of the property. We found it charming, and our daughter loved watching the trains go by. Would definitely stay again

The title says it all. The place is currently infested with termites and not suitable for human habitation.

It was our first time to Harpers Ferry and loved every minute of it! Our host Jill was the best at communicating all important information and the procedures for checking in/out, where to park were detailed, easy to follow and so helpful. The house was exactly has described on-line. The location right on High Street was so enjoyable. We loved hanging out on the porch, enjoying a drink, watching people in the evenings! It was easy access to hiking and biking plus exploring the town. We can’t wait to get back there!

Good house in a great location with easy check in!

To begin, the property owner is just great! The communication is wonderful and most helpful! The location of the residence is perfect! We parked our car for the weekend and never needed to touch it. We were able to walk everywhere and truly enjoy the residence. We hiked, we sat on the front porch, we ate, slept and were merry! Beds were very, very comfortable. Kitchen had everything that you needed. It was a rainy Friday when we arrived, and the owner had the gas fireplace on for us upon arrival with a lovely bottle of wine. What more could you ask for!!! Thank you so very much Jill!

Great house with great views and not too far to travel to.

Super cool old home. We took our two kids ages 9 and 10 for a getaway.
Sat on the porch drinking wine and in the amazing chair- was that really a Herman Miller?
Went hiking and ate at the Rabbit Hole.
Highly recommend for people who like staying in shape as the stairs are wicked but awesome.

My husband, MIL and I, along with our 2 boys (4 and 6) enjoyed our stay! You couldn't beat the location. Loved the history of the town, along with the home itself. Would recommend to anyone!!!

Great location to walk into town. Love sitting on the front porch with our drinks. The house was clean and comfortable. It was very old and about what you’d expect for that. But it was unique. I loved the town and had a great time for a cousins weekend. The only downfall was the parking but that was explained before booking and we worked around it. Would stay again if I came back to the area.

Nice, pet friendly home. Convenient location and beautiful view of the ocean. Would definitely stay here again. Back yard fence has gaps big enough for your small dog to get through. We made sure to attend to ours when they went out so it wasn’t t an issue.

Lovely old historic home. We really enjoyed our stay. The only caution would be for those who have trouble climbing steps. Owners were wonderful and easy to work with!

We stayed here for the first time last year and just had to come back! The house is clean, quaint, and in the best location- there’s a view of the river and also a VERY short walking distance from shops and restaurants. Beds are comfortable and we love the cozy tv room. Will come back again next year if we can!

Perfectly located, tastefully decorated with beautiful artifacts around the house, all comforts and needs were thought of, and last but not the least a wonderfylmexperience staying in a historical houses. Tourists were stopping and taking photos of it :)

This home is right in the center of everything. Shops, restaurants, historic events, all nearby. The views from the home are amazing. This is a perfect place to stay. Clean, great beds, nice TV room upstairs.

We had a great weekend stay at this lovely and unique home. The place was just as pictured, but better. As a historic home, the floors weren’t level and there was character instead of straight lines, yet all the modern features you needed for comfort were there. The beds were extremely comfortable. The central location was perfect for hiking and taking in the sights. We loved being able to run home across the street after dinner at the nearby restaurants. Highly recommend this special place.

This property is in what we found to be the best location for our visit to Harper's Ferry! We were able to walk out the door and hike the Appalachian trail, drink coffee on the balcony while enjoying the view, visit the local restaurants, do some shopping, partake in the ghost tour, and enjoy our time together!
This area of town is bustling during the day, but it is so quiet at night - aside from the occasional train passing through. And don't worry about the train noise - there are fans in the rooms and you get used to an occasional horn after the first night.
We were in a great location to take a short drive to some of the local wineries and breweries - it was nice to have a parking spot when we returned.
Rich and Jill were amazing hosts! We had a small issue with the refrigerator and they took care of it immediately. Rich was even sure to give our dog some extra attention when he stopped by to check things out for us. They were so apologetic about the issue and had it repaired as quickly as possible, all while making sure our needs were met. Honestly, we are grateful it happened as it gave us the chance to meet them and they are such pleasant people!
As mentioned in the listing and by others - this is an older home. There are slanting floors and STEEP stairs, so avoid only if you have mobility issues. Otherwise, this house has so much character!! We loved every second of it and would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends!

Jill's stay was so beautiful and charming and we had everything we needed there in the house. Jill was very responsive when we had questions both before and during the trip. Her hospitality and customer service were above and beyond. We highly recommend staying here at Jill's place. The location and view are unbeatable and Jill is one of the best hosts we've ever had.

We went with good friends for the weekend and loved the house. We sat on the porch with cocktails on Friday and Saturday night and enjoyed talking to people passing by. Although we didn't cook, we loved the well-equipped kitchen. Every touch was good--good linens and towels, clean and comfortable. We would definitely go back!

We all enjoyed our stay. 2 of us were stair challenged with bad knees; a railing would be nice. It was fun experiencing the sagging floor. We loved the patio.

Beautiful histrionic home! Great location for food, shopping sightseeing! We so enjoyed our stay - Jill was a wonderful host with quick responses to questions… perfect place to relax and enjoy your surroundings.
