About this house rental
Create your own adventure when staying at the Cove House in Southern Maryland. Located on St. George Creek (convenient to the St. Mary's River, Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay); the property is rich with outdoor activities, as well as more than ample room for activities indoors; providing a perfect location for multi-family reunions, get-aways, vacations, and events.
An updated old farmhouse retains some of its original 1940s character with original hardwood floors. The 1980s addition offers ample room for indoor entertaining.
The first floor contains a fully equipped kitchen, mud/laundry room with an additional refrigerator, 1/2 bath, formal dining room, open game room, spacious living/additional dining room, and a private nook with a day bed. The open game room can serve as play room or a quiet reading room. The first floor is supplemented with two screened porches, one off of the dining room with picnic table, and another off of the living room with comfortable seating and side tables; as well as a small deck off of the kitchen that includes an outdoor gas grill.
The second floor contains 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Bedroom one is a spacious master suite with king bed, Roku TV, and private porch overlooking the airstrip with a view to Price Cove. Bedroom two contains two queen beds. Bedroom three contains a queen bed with Roku TV, with a view to an inlet off of the St. Mary’s river. Bathroom one, attached to both the master suite and bedroom two, includes a walk in shower. Bathroom two is located near Bedroom one, and includes a tub/shower combination. All rooms have views of the property as well as deer and other wildlife that frequently graze on the airstrip.
Outdoors provides acres of flat open grassy area. The beach and boat ramp are located approximately 2000 feet from the house. A golf cart is provided and a dirt drive running the length of the property provides easy and private access. The boat ramp serves small to medium size boats, and provides access to the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. The beach area is great for swimming, relaxing, or observing local shore birds. The beach area is supplemented with a pier perfect for fishing and crabbing, as well as a fire pit and chairs for amazing camp fires under the stars. We have 3 kayaks (1 tandem and 2 singles) as well as two stand up paddleboards available for your use to explore the vast waterfront, coves, and lagoons that surround the property. We maintain a porta-potty near the beach and boat ramp to minimize trips back and forth to the house.

Upon arrivail, after unpacking we looked for the Hot Tub which was advertised on his Vrbo Add it was no where to be found. I called Rick who insisted i looked at the wrong Add ! I Explained to him its the 1st listing of 54 Admendments, been there since May..Then he got really upset ! Down Right Rude... So I let it go dont want to argue with him!
Theres a Deck Facing the Water he said Use At Own Risk ! Some of the boards loose. Wow!
So we never used it too Scared of Injuries...
The Ice Machine was Not Working ! Had to buy ice n store in coolers ! WOW !
There are 2 Cats with a Litter of kittens living under the Front Door Deck we had to Feed n Water Daily.THE KITTENS WERE REMOVED BY THE CLEANING CREW WOW!

What a fantastic property! We loved staying here and our family had such a great time exploring. Sadly it was a drizzly, dreary weekend but we had one nice day to go down to the beach and the kids enjoyed playing in the water. We loved the variety of porches to sit on and have different views and there was plenty of room for the kids to play indoors when it was raining. Overall a great experience. Thank you!

We had a great long weekend together! The house was clean, large with plenty of room and seating, and fully stocked for all our needs. The property was quiet, secluded and beautiful. We enjoyed nature, the golf cart, paddleboarding and campfire. Southern Maryland is a favorite of ours; thank you for making our stay easy, comfortable and lovely!

This was our third trip to the Cove house in Drayden. The owner has been very gracious with us and has really made my family feel very at home at what is becoming an annual vacation spot for us.
My family loves to play at the beach and enjoy the kayaks on the water. This time we also were watching seagulls dive and catch their supper. We had a BBQ supper by the water and watched the sun set.
The property is well maintained and the house is in very good condition. The golf cart to get to the beach and back is a very nice perk.

We had a great time staying at this charming house in a beautiful setting. During the day, we swam, kayaked, crabbed and visited local points of interest. The beach, pier and firepit provided fun and relaxation throughout the day, accessed by the provided golf cart. Great spot to kick back and enjoy family.

A quiet, peaceful spot full of nature. Deer will be feeding in the yard. A fun golf cart drive away to the water where you can fish and kayak. The house is spacious and cooking a breeze.

The cove house is a definite gem. It checks all the boxes when looking for the perfect vacation home. Rick was an amazing host and was very helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. I would recommend this beautiful home to anyone wanting to stay in the area and hope to return in the future.

We couldn't find the first aid kit it was complete fine tho the cleanliness was just with a verrrrry small amount of dust still and absolutely wonderful place to stay

We (myself, my wife, and our 5yo) stayed 4 days/3 nights at this property. We enjoyed the house, which is rambling, comfortable, and interesting, as well as the water features.
The small beach was sufficient for our daughter to play on and build sand castles. The beach is a 5 minute trip away, using the provided golf cart, so it is not ideal if you want to fall right off your back deck into the water, but the drive adds a fun element for kids or anyone who doesn't golf on a regular basis. (Plus we spotted several deer and a bald eagle on these trips.)
The inlet is perfect for use with the provided kayaks with a great combination of creek, hidden beaches/sandbars, woody shores, and marshes. You can choose any length of trip as the fractal nature of the coastline permits you to go on as long or as short a trip as you like and still enjoy new sights out and back.
The house was clean and spacious. We cooked a full dinner (including a large pot of crabs) in the kitchen and didn't lack for anything. Wifi and cellular data were slightly slow, but adequate. Full satellite TV was available.
Everything is 20+ minutes away, but everything that you would need for a vacation is available within a half hour drive.
Between the beach, fire pit, deck, and large house with numerous bathrooms, and semi-isolation, this is a great place for a family, but would be a perfect place for a youth group, sports team, or other collection of young people who need space and activities, but not necessarily a bed.

We had a marvelous time in this beautiful and serene setting. The house was clean and spacious and the screen porches were amazing!
We kayaked, paddle boarded, swam and played in the sand. We really enjoyed watching all the wildlife and the goats next door (from a distance.) On the one rainy day there were board games and puzzles as well as sports and movies on tv.
Definitely will return!

This is our second stay at Rick's Cove House. The property is unique being an old farm house on a 60 acre air strip. The river access is excellent, we spent hours on the pier fishing and crabbing. We bring our boat and having the boat ramp on site makes the trip easy, just need to launch and load around high tide. Rick is very responsive to questions and the house is very nicely cared for with everything you need for a great vacation. The remote feel of the area makes this a great place to take a break and recharge.

Secluded hideaway
Property was extremely clean and roomy. There was an abundance of wildlife (please do not bother the neighboring goats and peacock). Parlor is full of board and card games for family entertainment. We rented kayaks from Rick, he had them down at the dock ready for use. He was excellent with any questions and super nice when we met him on the property doing routine maintenance (mowing). If you need to disconnect from busy city life, this place is ideal.

Plenty of yard for the kids and lots of space inside so we aren’t always crammed on top of each other. This property easily fit the 9 of us and the master bedroom could probably sleep 15 people alone. The 3 bathrooms was a definite must for the 9 of us as well. We would definitely recommend this property to others and the owner was amazing with communication. The beds and bedding were all super comfy, which is always a must! This house came with everything we could possibly need. The boat ramp was perfect for our boats too. The beach with fire pit are gorgeous and CLEAN! I only wish it wasn’t so windy so we could have enjoyed a fire on the beach.

Rick is incredibly responsive and seems eager for his guests enjoy their stay. The house was clean and spacious. The beds were comfy, too.
