About this cabin rental
Welcome to our log cabin on beautiful and crystal clear Island Lake near Barnes, WI! Island Lake is over 50' deep and approximately 60 acres. It is large enough for skiing and tubing but small enough for kayaking and paddle-boarding and doesn't have the heavy boat traffic of a larger lake. The lake is almost all sand-bottom and you can swim or float right from the shore and our dock!
Our outdoor accommodations include a Weber gas grill, swing and picnic table near the lake, a fire-pit and a dining table on the deck overlooking the lake. We have 2 stand-up paddle-boards, a canoe and a paddleboat available for your use. We have a dock available if you would like to bring your own boat or rent a boat and have it delivered to our lake.
Our home is perfect for year-round recreation as it is located directly on a snowmobile/ATV trail and features a huge trailer-friendly circle drive with plenty of parking (and a basketball hoop). The home features heated floors and a wood burning stove on the main level for the cold months and air conditioning for the hot months! We also have a back-up generator should the power ever go out during your stay.
The main floor features complete living facilities including a main floor bedroom with a king bed, a bathroom with a tub and a washer and dryer. Enjoy the gorgeous lake views from the open floor-plan and complete wall of windows and doors to the deck overlooking the lake! The master suite is upstairs and includes a queen bed and large master bath with a separate tub and shower and walk-in closet. The lower level features 2 bedrooms overlooking the lake, a a family/game room with a sleeper sofa, air hockey table, foosball table, dart board, an arcade game and another bathroom with a shower! The first lower level bedroom has a queen bed and the second has a twin over full bunk bed and an additional twin bed. There is new carpet and fresh paint throughout the entire home. Please note that we allow a max of 8 adults with a total max of 12 guests, including children.
Our location is great…Cable, Duluth and Hayward are all within a short drive!! We are an easy drive from the Twin Cities (approximately 3 hours and all on paved roads). We are also not far from Bayfield, where you can hop on a ferry to Madeline Island for a fun day trip! Let me know if you have questions about our location or activities! Great location, right in the ATV trails. We had 8 people, 4 ATV's on two large trailers. Plenty of room for all of our vehicles. Cabin was great, better than the pictures!

Th cabin was everything we could have asked for! It was clean and it had more than enough room for a bigger family. The views from the back deck were spectacular! The lake was beautiful! Our family enjoyed using the canoe and paddle boards. Angie was very responsive and helpful! We would definitely look forward to staying at the cabin again!

This property was as advertised but the advertising didn't fully represent. For example, the incline to the water is VERY steep. The crushed stone path was very slippery making it almost dangerous for us elderly folks. Indeed, the stair steps inside seemed tenuous as well. Even the fifty year olds were being cautious and gripping the rails. The entry door latch severely sticks. That is, it catches on the strike plate and won't open. The property manager advised "you have to bump it with your hip". Well, no. Maybe a bump with a sledge hammer. But, really, should this sort of problem be encountered at all? It should also be noted that the electronic dead bolt would extend on its own when the door was open. There are deep gouges in the door trim indicating it had happened over some length of time. Was the place functional? Yes. Was it well outfitted? Yes. Was our stay enjoyable? Yes. However, had we realized the incline, we would have stayed elsewhere.

The cabin is well kept and spacious, and we felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. The whole family enjoyed playing on the sandy beach, swimming, and fishing for bluegill off the dock. Angie is a wonderful host! We’d definitely stay again.

This worked so well for us! The beach was better than it looked online and our 1 and 2 year-old grandchildren loved it. The beach was sandy and very shallow so we felt safe. The house was nice, but even better - it was family friendly. No knick-knacks for the kids to worry about, furniture and floor coverings nice but still washable. We are already talking about our next visit.
One thing that was really nice is that there are three different living levels with a bedroom and bath at each level. We were able to have each family in a different level and it worked out very well, especially for things like toothbrushes.
Angie almost instantly responded to all our questions and was very easy to work with.

We've rented many vrbo properties over the years and this was the best. It was so clean and was decorated perfect.
We had our adult children and in-laws along with our 2 Grandchildren. Spent a lot of time fishing, using the stand up paddle boards, and the paddle boat all provided. Evenings were so much fun in the game room. We enjoyed a lot of meals on the deck. We made great family memories.

We had an amazing time at this property!! Our kids (ages 7-12) loved swimming in the lake and fishing off of the dock. The water is crystal clear and provided hours of entertainment. We loved that the lake was very quiet and calm and safe for our kids to swim out into. The water “toys” that were provided were great too so we didn’t have to pack as many things. The cabin itself was well stocked and had large closets in the bedrooms. The game room was so much fun for everyone. We had an amazing time!!

We had a wonderful time! It looks even better in person than it does in the pictures. There was plenty to do with the water toys, plenty of room in the driveway to play bags, frisbee and basketball. We all had fun -ages 6-67.

Relax at this Quiet Lake Cabin!
We stayed for a week..parents, 2 daughters and spouses and children- 5 girls ages 15 to 10. We enjoyed the lake, good fishing for pan fish, the canoe, paddle boards and fire pit as well as the kids hangout downstairs. Kitchen was well stocked. Very clean and spacious cabin. A couple of issues arose with lack of any place to hang towels. One rack in each bathroom was not enough. Also the photos don't really show how steep the incline is to the lake and fire pit. If you have any mobility issues this is not the place for you. There are a few steps to both entrances but no handrails. The living room furniture is soft and you sink in so it is difficult to get up from it. Young healthy people would not have a problem but some of us did.
The host was wonderful to communicate with. It was obvious that she wanted us to enjoy ourselves. The lake is small and quiet for most of the week. You can use a speed boat to pull skiers or tubers or a jet ski. But is mostly a lake for canoeing. Kayaking, fishing. We rented a pontoon for the whole week but it wasn't necessary as it is a quick trip around the whole lake. Relaxing place to vacation. We had a few rain days but we are game playing family and the cabin was well stocked with games and puzzles. Bottom line is if you are healthy and have no mobility issues and are looking for a clean, quiet place to relax and enjoy, you will love this cabin.

Wonderful week in Barnes
A gorgeous cabin with lots of room for us and our extended family. The kids loved the little game room, basketball hoop, using the paddle boards, digging for rocks in the sand and swimming off the dock! The lake was beautiful, not the best fishing, but we did catch some. Angie was so nice and quick to respond to everything, thanks for sharing your place!

Beautiful Cabin and Location
We have rented several lake cabins in the Hayward area and this was by far one of our favorites! The cabin was super clean, well equipped, and nicely set up for 2 families. All of the furnishings and decor were perfectly Northwoods and minimal/sturdy enough to be kid friendly. The kids had tons of fun splashing at the lake and digging in the sand. Everyone had fun on the paddle boards/boat and just enjoying the gorgeous view from the deck. The owner was also great and very responsive throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend!

Great cabin!
It is a beautiful cabin in a beautiful part of WI. We were at the cabin in February and were able to enjoy the cross country ski trails nearby. It is a very nice log cabin with lots to do - board games, darts, arcade, fooseball and air hockey- great for a family getaway! It was very clean and well taken care of.

We loved our week at the lake. Thanks for sharing your comfortable, clean and spacious home with us. It had everything we could hope for - paddle boards, super soakers and all day fun on the water! The well-supplied kitchen, outdoor grill and seating on the deck made for some wonderful meals together, topped off with a campfire for s'mores. Even the quiet times were filled with puzzles, games, and comfy beds. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Amazing Family Cabin
We rented this cabin for our family weekend and it was wonderful. The house has plenty of space for people to enjoy, things for the kids to do and the lakefront and fire pit are perfect! The kitchen has all the necessary things you would need to cook a family meal. So nice not having to bring all that extra with us.
