About this bed and breakfast

The Kettle Cove neighborhood is beautiful and relaxing, safe and quiet, and the two beaches are steps away. We live in our 200 year-old farm house, and we love to host guests at our guesthouse , which is separate, independent, and private. We are always happy to share the huge lawn and fire-pit with our guests. We are quiet, yet friendly, inviting and respectful of our guests' privacy. The Red-Brick patio in the back yard is reserved for our guests.
We live in the house attached to our guesthouse, and we enjoy hosting guests from around the world. We are quiet and friendly, and all of our interaction with our guests is at their pleasure.
LONGER THAN WEEKLY STAYS ARE WELCOME.

This cute little carriage house was built into the passageway behind the main house and the barn. It comfortably fit our party of 3 adults with a nice size kitchen, a single bathroom, and spacious seating areas both inside and out. Our flight was delayed, and when we arrived, there was yogurt and fruit in the fridge waiting for us. There is a stand selling ice cream, burgers, and lobster rolls within walking distance, and the Cape Elizabeth beach is a short drive away. Lovely stay!

BEWARE: This is a One Bedroom, with an adjoining study for a child or two (on an extra cot). This is not at all a three bedroom as listed. The so called 'third bedroom' is a windowless walk-in closet adjoining the main bedroom. All three so-called bedrooms adjoin each other so occupants must walk through the other 'bedrooms' in order to access the bathroom and the rest of the unit. This is not at all an appropriate space for more than one family, with a child or two. There is little privacy. The 'wall' between the main bedroom/bed and the study-bedroom/bed is a glass door that both beds rest against and is easily bumped into, making noise. The door between the main bedroom and the closet room is also a half-glass door with no curtain. There was no AC connected, no screen doors for ventilation. The extra blankets/bedding appeared to not have been washed, especially since when unfolding one, a used condom fell out. There were only enough towels for one per person and no beach towels provided. The dishes were sparse (no small plates or regular bowls). No adequate space provided to hang up damp items. Loud chimes hanging from front entry way. Lack of prior reviews indicates this is not a property experienced with such rentals. The location is near to two small cove beaches without surf and full of smelly seaweed and flies. Best for families with very small children. The water was also full of seaweed and dead flies, so not conducive to swimming. The Higgins Beach and neighborhood is far superior (clean water for swimming, long beach to river, good surf) and there are actual cottages there for rent with real, non-adjoining bedrooms. Once there, as two families/couples, we would not have been able to change the bedroom shortage and set up, so we simply had to work with it. It was significantly compromising to our enjoyment of the accommodation and a clearly fraudulent representation of it. Overpriced for the space provided. When we raised this space issue with the host and asked for some fair compensation for the lack of a third legal bedroom and the privacy/adjoining issue, giving the host an opportunity to make it right, our legitimate concerns were completely dismissed. He claimed everyone else was fine with it. That tells us there must not have been many others through there, and certainly few if any sharing/double families. The listing is brand new to VRBO. Know what you are getting for configuration before you go. The host isn't saying.
