About this cottage rental
Summary:
The Little Window sits on the High Street of Moreton-in-Marsh, a bustling market town known as ‘the gateway to the Cotswolds’. Dating back hundreds of years, the traditional Cotswold stone cottage is full of unique charms and quirks that'll transport you from modern 21st century life.
The Space:
Inside, discover beautiful traditional features that have been sympathetically restored over the years. An inglenook fireplace, exposed wooden beams and stone walls complement the many antiques, curios and paintings that adorn the walls. Having been recently renovated, the period features are tastefully complimented with new mod cons to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible!
Upstairs, the two double bedrooms feature gorgeous antique furniture, homely furnishings and local artwork on the walls. They share a modern bathroom with a luxurious waterfall shower, marble wall tiles and generous toiletries to use freely during your stay. Outside, the small but charming courtyard area is available for you to store your bikes!
The property itself is a grade 2 listed building which has undergone a full but sympathetic restoration at the start of 2021, allowing it to maintain the charm and character of a property of its vintage whilst still benefitting from modern appliances and heating systems. However, when staying here, guests must be aware that there will be uneven floors, winding staircases and low beams and doorways.
The Cotswolds, and Moreton in particular, have long been a centre for those interested in Antiques. Indeed, The Little Window was, for many decades, a fascinating curiosity shop run by one of the town’s local characters. For the art lover, on the ground floor is a small exhibition of oil paintings and drawings by the locally-born artist Nick Chaundy, currently a professor at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. These are for sale to guests upon enquiry.
Whatever your interest, The Little Window can cater for anybody with a love of the Cotswolds and an appreciation of traditional arts and crafts, and it serves as the perfect retreat from which to explore this intimate landscape.
Guest Access:
The property is accessed easily by car with a free parking space directly outside it - although this operates on a first-come-first-serve basis and does not need a permit. There is a small private courtyard at the rear that can be used for the safe storage of bicycles. Moreton-in-Marsh railway station is a 10 minute walk away and the town centre bus stop is 5 minutes from the property. It is therefore perfect for both longer stays and short weekend breaks.
The Neighborhood:
Moreton-in-Marsh is one of the most vibrant of all Cotswold towns, with its famous Tuesday markets, numerous independent shops, award-winning restaurants and traditional pubs furnishing the High Street where the property is located.
The magnificent countryside surrounding the town offers a refuge for wildlife, walkers, cyclists, and all those who have an appreciation for the preservation of the particular and distinctive characteristics of the Cotswolds. Immersing oneself amongst the hills, the hedgerows, the dry stone walls and the ancient scenery, one is taken back to a bygone age which existed before the advent of modernity.
Getting Around:
Moreton is very well connected to the neighbouring towns of Broadway, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water via several bus routes, whilst the railway station (on the London Paddington mainline service) also allows guests to access other famous destinations such as the City of Oxford and Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon.
Other Things to Note:
Owing to the age, size and construction of the property, we regrettably do not allow dogs and would recommend against children of toddler age.
The cottage is right in the centre of a bustling market town, meaning all the local amenities are at your finger tips. However, it also means there is potential for noise.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Property is beautiful, and perfectly located for exploring the Cotswolds. House is well equipped with with good kitchen and bathroom and very comfy lounge area. Numerous pubs, restaurants and shops near by in lovely Moreton-In-Marsh.
It is on a busy road which can be noisy first thing in the morning but we were aware of that before we arrived so not a real problem for us.
Only negative points for us personally were the small beds. (4’6”) investment in something larger would make the house perfect.

Just what I expected of a cottage. Very comfortable, too. Negatives were: It is on a very busy street. Water did not flow very well out of the shower head.

Fabulous stay here. If you can, make sure to stay on a Tuesday to have opportunity to see the market, it was great. Main street was quiet at night. Owner checked in to ensure we were settled. Thank you, would definitely stay again.

This was a great location for us to explore the Cotswold.
More info on the location would have been nice as the buildings have no numbers on them. We arrived by train and really didn’t know which way to go.
The only improvement would be in the kitchen. There was no coffee as stated in listing. Also, we did prepare meals at home and would have appreciated paper towels, oven mitts and additional tea towels and wash cloths.
Overall it was a lovely place to stay.

Little Window matches it’s description and photos to a T. It’s a comfortable, lovely and livable space. It allows easy access to transportation- bus and train- and conveniences. The only mark off perfection is the street traffic, but this comes with convenient transportation. Highly recommended.

Perfect location in Moreton-in-Marsh with parking right outside and easy train access. We’ll equipped with two comfortable bedrooms, large bath and kitchen. We wished we could have extended our stay. Mr. Asbury responded almost immediately to our messages and was very flexible with our check-in time.

The property is beautiful, perfectly located, and the owners were great to work with.
The only downside was not having a washer and dryer but everything else was spot on and as advertised.
Thank you for making our holiday so enjoyable!

Perfect location, charming villa, walking distance to pubs, restaurants, local fare. We would definitely stay there again.

Beautifully located for touring the Cotswolds. The bed in the lower bedroom was very uncomfortable and could be replaced

Enjoyed our stay
Really loved the cottage. Extremely clean and loved all the interior furniture etc. Only down points were the TV didn't work including netflix and amazon prime... Netflix kept cutting out and amazon wouldn't even load due to poor connection. We wanted to relax and watch Christmas films but we weren't able to. Also the cottage is on a really busy road but that can't be helped. After rush hour and over night it was quiet.

The cottage has been beautifully refurbished with attractive furnishings and decoration and was generally lovely. The booking process was smooth and easy and the owner helpful and friendly with queries beforehand. However it was quite cold throughout the whole cottage all week, although we didn't contact the owner about it, we couldn't get the heaters above 19 degrees and it's quite open plan downstairs with single glazed windows so was cold. We just got on with it and managed, but others staying would be recommended to contact him as I'm sure he could resolve this if asked. The double beds were really small at only 4'6" wide, which we knew about when we booked but still found them really uncomfortable, especially as the mattresses were old and lumpy. There's plenty of room for kingsize or even superking beds in the rooms, which are the norm in this current age, double beds at 4'6" wide are really only comfortable for one person, so we had to sleep in separate bedrooms. Improving the beds would be a good investment as it's this aspect that will stop us re-booking next year. We really missed a fire in the cottage, there's a TV in the fireplace instead, which is a big negative in what should be a cosy luxury cottage. It was more so a miss because the cottage was so cold. It was difficult to get comfortable watching TV because the sofas are facing the wrong way, we had to move them. Although I had visited the village many times before and stayed in the hotel opposite the cottage on the other side of the road each time, I never noticed the road noise from there, but the traffic noise was very loud indeed in the cottage, not helped by having the original single-glazed windows (attractive as they are). When the lorries particularly drove over the manhole cover in the road outside, the cottage actually shuddered each time and it was quite loud. Double or secondary double glazing would help enormously. We've had a lovely week overall thoughmk the cottage is beautiful, and I hope the owner isn't offended by my honest feedback, which I hope helps in improving the property for the comfort of future guests. Thank you.

Perfect setting for a relaxing weekend
This little cottage was perfect for a weekend away, catching up with family.
We parked just opposite the house and didn’t move the car all weekend.
We spent the whole time just chilling in the cottage; only venturing outside for fresh air and coffees, drinks and meals. On the high street, right outside the front door, are numerous cafes, restaurants and pubs; all within a few minutes walk.
The house has been done up beautifully and is so cosy, with comfy sofas and a cute little kitchen to make drinks in. Plus it’s got a lovely clean bathroom with towels and toiletries provided.
Thanks for sharing such a great place.
We’re already planning our return trip!

Quaint
A nice little find. Handy as a touring base. Moreton In Marsh is nice and the cottage is ideally situated on the High Street. The cottage itself has nice rooms, facilities and is just right for what you need. The only issue was the sound of the traffic noise which cannot be helped as its on the main Fosse Way.

Quirky, Quaint and perfect for a weekend break in the Cotswolds
Great experience: easy booking, good communications and easy to check in. Loved the location and were spoiled for choice with places to eat. Fab weekend break enjoyed by all!
