My husband and I enjoyed three nights here. It was lovely to wake up to the view and see the gorgeous sunset at night. The beach almost seemed private as the coastline is kind of curved and there weren't many people. The tall seating on the lanai is nice. The kitchen is stocked well with items and the appliances are good. Barstools at the kitchen counter add to the general seating options. The bed is comfortable and the space is ok. The bathroom has a shower curtain(there was an earlier review about a shower door). The bathroom has an artificial" skylight" which makes it nice and bright. We used the beach chairs that were stored in closet. The washer and dryer are good. We could hear the neighbors next door through the mirrored wall when they were loud. The property is gated and key fobs are needed for access to the parking lot, elevators, and beach. The on site personnel were helpful and pleasant. The property is clean and well maintained. Tamura Market and Long's Drug Store are nearby and good for shopping. There's not much for dining out along there, but if you're military, we recommend The Beach House by 604 for a nice beach side dining experience. Ka'ena Point is a nice hike along the coast. There are a lot of homeless living along the beaches on the way. Even with this issue, given the security and peacefulness of the beach, we would stay here again.

Loved staying in this unit, sunrises/sunsets gorgeous, beautiful beach, not crowded, saw whales and turtles every day. We watched some of Buffalo's Big Board Surf Contest at Makaha which was super fun! Easy check in/out, very friendly security people.

Nice views of sunsets and ocean. Beach is clean and not crowded.

Awesome view! Beautiful beach although not a safe beach for children. Main and sofa bed were comfortable. Needs: One of the two living room shades which cut the afternoon sun was missing. When I return to Waianae to visit family, I would return.
4.3
We enjoyed being out away from the busy areas of Honolulu and Waikiki, but that also created a problem getting to any of our tours. We missed seeing some areas because it was just too far to drive and the roads were very crowded. We have a rental property and this one needed a few things added like plastic wrap and foil. It doesn't seem like much but it would have been nice.

The condo at Hawaiian Princess was nice, clean and pleasant. A bit outdated but comfortable and met all of our needs. The neighborhood did not feel safe. All of the beaches along the west coast were taken up by homeless, who are very territorial and generally do not like tourists. Everywhere we went, we needed to drive because there was no place to go near the condo. So we did a lot of driving and traffic was very congested and busy. I will not return to O’ahu again.

My husband’s #1 request was that we could look out over the ocean. You cannot get a better ocean view than this- it was amazing. While the property wasn’t luxurious, it was clean and totally accommodating to these 2 retired teachers!

We really enjoyed our stay especially my 10 year old grandson. My sister was on the bottom level and we were at the 6th floor just above her condo so it made the stay even special. The staff was very nice and helpful.
The first night there, we didn't have our access code to get into our condo but the front desk clerk was able to help us through it all. That said and meant alot. The only problem that we had was the first night we took a shower, the shower door fell when I caught it on time before smashing my foot. It was so late we didn't want to bother anyone. We had meant to tell the staff but our stay was so busy that I didn't get a chance to inform anyone. We just made sure that we didn't slide that door the entire time we were there. Other than that everything was perfect. My sister and I visit Hawaii every year. So I am pretty sure I will be back next year. Thank you for everything. Mahalo

All the reviews are correct…it’s out there. Neighborhood is not touristy but you can’t beat the price and the view! The beach was lovey to swim at and the pool was refreshing after. Everything worked smoothly and the security staff on site were friendly to interact with.
4.3
We love the Makaha area so this was perfect for us. Very quiet facilities and beach. Will definitely stay here again!
4.3
Over all we had a great stay here. The communication was great with property management. We had one issue when we arrived the first night and they responded right away and we're there the next morning, and fixed the issue. The beach was quiet and beautiful. I would stay here again.
4.3
We loved being right on the beach. That was the best part. However, the front door, from way before our stay, had been busted in and the door was somewhat fixed. The kitchen was outdated and only had 1 tall drinking glass instead of multiple. The knives were so dull we could barely cut anything with them. The freezer rack has rust on it in various places. The bathroom had a cracked sink and the shower smelled when I opened it. The AC unit barely worked at all. This place needs an update for sure. We also has some bodyboards in the unit to use, one was broken so it folded in half. This is in a rougher neighborhood and around a lot of homeless people, but the ones we talked too were very friendly. The screen door to the patio will lock you out if you close it just right, I found that out the hard way. The pull out bed was not the best. You could feel the bars under the mattress. Would I stay in this unit again? Well if it was the last one available yes, but only because of the views and it being right on the beach. Otherwise I would probably stay somewhere else. I wish I could post pictures of all the issues, but there isn’t a way to.

My husband and I stayed at this condo in early November. It was as described in the description and on a beautiful, quiet beach that was great for swimming. We had perfect weather. The check-in process went smoothly and the gated entry and free parking were nice. The condo was stocked with most everything we needed for our stay with toiletries, kitchen supplies (no food), and beach gear- beach towels, chairs, boogie boards, and some snorkel gear but only one set.
The only negative for me would be that it was a ways from all the tours/activities we had planned on the north shore of the island. The drive down and around took 1+ hours and even longer with traffic. There were restaurants and grocery stores in the area, but not within easy walking distance so a car would be recommended. The area is more local residential so don't expect a touristy feel to the area surrounding the condo.
Overall we had a great time, and the beach and beautiful view from the lanai were the highlights of our stay here.

It’s good and clean apartment building.
Awesome view of the ocean and almost private beach but it’s time to upgrade the apartment furniture .
4.3
The views from the property are amazing. The unit itself was clean but could of been kept up a little better. The surrounding area was a total shock. Several homeless in the area and not a lot of businesses to obtain groceries or dining.
4.3
wish we had knowledge of homeless encampments around the area. prob would not have changed mind about staying there but would have been nice to have known what to expect.
4.3
The location of the Hawaiian Princess is beautiful and peaceful. The units themselves are shabby--they are in very poor condition--they are not maintained and are in desperate need of a deep clean--or any real cleaning. Appliances were broken or missing, beach equipment (beach chairs and umbrella) were broken and unusable. Paint was missing or chipped everywhere--on the walls and furniture. The door of our unit appeared to have been broken into. The frame was split and it looked like anyone could push the door open even when locked. We spent most of our time in our friend's units and they were not much better.
We were with a group that rented 4 units in total. Our unit was identical to the unit next door, but our unit was $36 more per night than the matching (and adjoining) unit next door. Everyone else in our group paid the lower rate, as well, for their units, including one much larger corner unit.
Lastly, and really the reason that I am writing a bad review for a rental property for the first time in my life, is due to the host of this property. She was condescending (she told me there were no bugs in the unit when my roommate and I had killed dozens of them and I had the bites to prove it). She cut me off, told me to stop talking when I was trying to explain the reason for my call, and she was just incredibly rude overall. I could have overlooked so much about the property if she had been pleasant and understanding. I have worked in the hospitality industry for all of my working life and I would NEVER treat another human being the way she treated us. This is so disappointing because everything (except the host's rudeness) is fixable. It could be an amazing property with the right attitude from the host and more attention to cleanliness and maintenance.

I loved the location. The beach and all its glory was worth all the traveling and the price!!
I can’t wait to stay here again.
4.3
A fantastic beach and fun, low key location away from the traffic and commercialization of Waikiki. Real Hawaii can be found here. Condo was as advertised and fairly priced. Bed was great. AC and WIFI worked well. As others have stated it is a little rough around the edges in terms of maintenance with front door and sun shade needing repair. Most annoying, however, was unusable beach umbrella and clothes washer. We should have been offered replacements when notified. Communication with manager was poor. .

Makaha Stay
The ocean view is fantastic, worth the stay. The property itself is well maintained. The communication with the property owner was very lacking. The pictures taken for your website are nothing like the actual unit, which is in disrepair. The kitchen is stocked very minimally. But, the beach out front in spectacular.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The best part was definitely the beach front view from the balcony where you could see some amazing sunset views. The neighborhood around it was a little run down but everyone local seemed friendly. The condo was one of many in the building and there was another large apartment building right next door which made it seem like it would be busy but it was not. The beach, pool, and common areas never seemed crowded during our stay. The unit was a little out-dated but clean and had everything you would need for a short stay.

Loved the view from the lanai. Saw a turtle up close on our 3rd day there. Shower could be hotter, the water was luke warm at best. Place was equipped with all the necessities. Great stay.

The condos at the Hawaiian princess are great. Some others have rated them lower than 5 stars. But i can only ascribe that to a Disney hotel expectation. The property is on the leeward side of the island which is more prone to "rough neighborhoods" but the HP is in a lovely secluded cove. The parking lot is gated and the access is controlled. The security are nice and helpful, and the ameneties are outstanding. (Laundry in-unit, stove, fridge snorkeling gear, beach chairs etc. The list goes on) communication with the property owner can be a little spotty. But the check in and out procedure were easy and smooth. Will definitely be renting here again in the future!

Jeannie,
Thank you for hosting our stay! We had an absolutely amazing time at this property and exploring the island!
I will admit that when we first arrived and were on our way to Makaha during the middle of the night (very dark and could not see ocean views on the way), we were a bit weary as the only views we could see were of rustic stores and several homeless individuals. However as morning arrived and the sun began to rise above the mountains, we rapidly fell in love with this place! We visited many beaches during our trip and the beach at this location (Papaoneone) was one of our favorites! The view from the balcony was also very beautiful with a perfect view of the beach and sun set!
We felt very safe during our stay as the complex is gated with 24 hour security guards on site! The security guards were also very helpful and friendly!
As far as the individual unit, we were very happy with our stay! It was nice to have an oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with ice machine as eating out can be quite expensive. It was also nice to have beach chairs and an umbrella to use at the beach! The interior could use some updating, however that should not deter anyone from staying here. The bed was very comfortable and the A/C unit was a bonus!! The washer and dryer was also a bonus! (The dryer is a bit out-dated and took 2 rounds to fully dry clothes but that was okay.)
I would highly recommend this place to anyone! Especially those who want a quiet and perfect beach with amazing views!
For anyone that is planning on staying at this unit, I recommend “The Beach House by 604” as a cool dining option with great views! I also recommend downloading the “Shaka-guide” app if you plan on exploring the island and learning more about the Hawaiian culture!
Thanks again Jeannie!

View was amazing! Sleeping to crashing waves was exactly what I was looking for. The condo is outdated and needs more attention to detail. Overall good place to stay.

The check in process was a sledge lock not a key. The drier did not work. The clothes machine did not work well, clothes were still dripping. The appartment was clean. The view was amazing. Location was a bit of a stuff neighborhood. Overall I'd do it again.

This Condo was clean and well maintained with a fun, beach theme. The view is absolutely breathtaking and the beach always had only a few people on it. We could walk right out onto the beach and have no one else around us for 50 yards, easily. Only about a 50 minute drive from Honolulu Airport, even with the daily congestion coming into Waianae. We were provided with beach towels, chairs, an umbrella and snorkel gear. There was even beach/sand toys and pool noodles. Oh, and the A/C was awesome and much appreciated!!! This room has a door to the room next door so I'm guessing you can rent both for larger parties. Only issue was the hot water or lack there of, and this could be an issue with the building itself, I'm not sure. The "Luke warm" water only lasted about 3 minutes and then the rest of our shower was cold, so I would turn off the water and wash my hair in the bath faucet because it was just too cold to stand in but hey, with the warm temps outside, maybe it could be refreshing...... Lastly, please be aware of the surrounding area/town. This is a rough side of the island and the homeless population is not a little thing. But, we never personally encountered any of them and they seem peaceful, it's just something I would have definitely wanted to know about if I had brought my children. Overall, we were extremely happy with everything about the room and the building! In fact, our friends stayed in the building next to the Hawaiian Princess and preferred our room, so they came over every day! They also came over to swim in the pool with us because their building didn't have one. Thank you for having us!!
4.3
It needs some updating/maintenance things done. The bath sink is cracked, the mirrors on the 70s medicine cabinet are messed up. The shower feels like needles hitting your body. The nearness to the ocean and the views makes up for the above.
4.3
Great views on the beach!
Good place to stay. Wifi went in out out a couple times. Could use some updating. Overall it was great.
