Exceptional
We loved everything about the Dar Dzahra. Situated right in the town center of Taroudant, only two minutes walking to the main square and the souks, this big riad is the place of calm and tranqiulity. The stuff is friendly and attentive, the french host highly knowledgeable and informative. The traditional moroccan breakfast, served by the pool, was rich and tasty, as well as the dinner we took in the evening. A very good option for staying in Taroudant!

You can probably find better options in Taroundant for that price
The location is good (central), and the hotel staff is very kind
Does not look well maintained (after covid effect ?) and not clean ... Dinner is overpriced (although nicely cooked by the chef and pretty tasty, at least for the mains)

A wonderful estate in decay
The location was good near the central square, not difficult at all to find. The riad is a wonderful property, full of charm & character. It is nothing short of a carefully designed set for a romantic movie. The rooms we had were good in size, had good bathroom layout with separate toilet room & shower booth, naturally ventilated. It had a pool, a wonderfully exotic garden and an empty land plot behind the property as parking. But...
This amazing property lies in a decrepit state that is beyond comprehension: pool is utterly dirty, yard & property grounds look as not having been swept or maintained for ages. Trinkets, construction materials, rags, rusty things and whatnot thrown around. Few bicycles, probably used by guests years ago lie around covered in dust, dirt, unkept. Everywhere there's thick dust and a smell of old. So are the rooms. I opened a window, dust and sand splattered all around from the frame as if it was first time opened in many years. And the bathrooms do not fare any better. Faint smell of urine around the toilet bowl, the sink tap did not work for cold water and the drain was hardly doing its job, yet the shower drain was worse. A couple of husky dogs roam free, skared my kids stiff in the evening, upon return after spending the evening out. Hardly anyone in sight showing interest for the guests. The wifi password (22putin36) and a book with putins portrait laying around only make one feel increasingly uneasy about being there. At breakfast we did not dare touch few of the items on the table as some seemed just as aged and tired as the whole place. I only had coffee with milk, my wife had a pancake and the kids a bit of tea. Went to town for breakfast afterwards. I am not sure if they have plans for refurbishing the place. Obviously, the place badly needs to be restored to its former glory of which i am sure it had plenty. As it is now, I do not consider it fit to cater to guests to the advertised standard so I can not recommend this place. It is a pitty indeed, as the place has terrific potential.

Great visit to Taroudant
Great location and a fab spot for checking out the medina! Yves and the team gave us such a fun experience with reccos and a great breakfast before we left☝🏾

Not for me but maybe okay for others
The place was good but I simply felt uneasy there. Not sure if it was the “warning gays” traffic sign in the hallway or the wifi password being 22putin36 that did it. I won’t be staying there again but maybe it is fine for others.

Good
We didn’t know that this place is recommended in Lonely Planet. I chose it as the first option showing on booking.com for its central location. The owner, Frenchman Yves might be eccentric and sometimes he misses the appropriate tone. The place might not be up to highest standards of hygiene but it is very special in so many ways. Yves put much love into every detail and one feels in a mixture between Breton restaurant and Suess Riad. Our kids enjoyed the zoo atmosphere tremendously. The two huskies which just gave birth to 9 puppies. The turtle, the chicken, the hedgehogs. The variety of plants flowering around the pool make the riad an oasis to return after a day in the souq. We spent here 3 nights and are happy with our experience. I understand that others are not. If you look for an uncomplicated, sterile hotel to stay for a night, don’t come here. You need a bit time to understand and appreciate this place and it’s owner. The forthcoming and friendly staff helps a lot in this regard. The only thing that put me off was Yves’ upon arrival pushiness to follow his plan. Take a horse carriage. Do this do that. Have dinner here. He should give his guests the same time to arrive which is needed to appreciate Taroudant and his Riad as very unique and memorable places.

Very good
Yves, the host, was loads of fun and generous and helpful. Food/chef for dinner was excellent
Feels like they have not yet got their groove back since COVID. Some of their facilities remain dusty and unused
