About this house rental
Nestled on 2 acres in the foothills of the Sun and Moon Mountains is this glorious Pueblo-style home, boasting kiva fireplaces, viga ceilings, and stunning 360-degree views from the rooftop deck!
Located in the beautiful (and convenient!) Museum Hill district of Santa Fe, this 3,000-sq ft home contains everything you'd dream of for a perfect New Mexico vacation: comfortable sleeping quarters, homey fireplaces, and plenty of outdoor gathering spaces to complement all the indoor beauty. Remember the old song about having the sun in the morning and the moon at night? At Moonstar, you get both -- and at all hours of day and night! You'll love watching the sky change over the Sun and Moon Mountains. Sunrises, sunsets (uh-oh, another song!), and every other hour are magnificent here!
Set back from the road, this house is gorgeous from any angle. Step onto the flagstone front porch, admire the southwestern touches, and enter the gleaming great room, where your party will spend so much wonderful "downtime." Viga ceilings, long banks of windows, leather sofas (one of which unfolds into a queen-sized bed), a huge HDTV with DVD player, CD players and free Netflix. Additionally, southwestern art and artifacts, and a cozy kiva fireplace all stand ready to make your time here very special.
No doubt your group is hungry and thirsty after the journey, so use this excuse to explore the kitchen and dining areas of Moonstar. You will be delighted with the sparkling stainless-steel appliances in the kitchen, the wide selection of chef's tools and gadgets, and the fully stocked cabinets. Pots, pans, dishes, glasses, serving ware -- they are all here. Pick up some groceries and you are all set -- whether you're planning on serious home cooking or just using the coffeemaker, microwave, and blender for quick drinks and snacks!
And you will find nice places to enjoy your meals at Moonstar. Yes, the outdoors is tempting, but if you are kept inside, sit at the breakfast bar in the central island of the big kitchen, or pull up a chair at the sun-washed breakfast nook and dream away half an hour admiring the view while you dine. Or, when the whole gang is actually ready to sit down together, treat yourself to the dining room, with its double set of glass doors letting sun spill in, its dropped lighting, and its lovely works of art!
When it's time to turn in for the night, everyone will enjoy a great rest in the bedrooms at Moonstar. The master suite is particularly dreamy, with a king-sized bed beneath a handsome viga ceiling, with a kiva fireplace in one corner, lovely views, a flat-screen TV, and ceiling fan. The bath is its crown jewel: two separate vanities, an alcove for the commode, a fabulous soaking tub, and a walk-in shower. If Santa Fe weren't so beautiful and exciting, you might want to spend half your vacation in the master suite! (Oh well, you'll just have to come back soon!)
And the remaining three bedrooms all have luxe touches your party will appreciate. One contains a queen-size bed in a large room with a kiva fireplace, flat-screen TV, French doors to the portal, and big windows. Another, also with a queen-size bed and a bank of floor-to-ceiling windows, offers a glass door leading into the garden. And the third has a double bed, kiva fireplace, and big windows with a view of garden, trees, and sky.
There is plenty of bathroom space for everyone in your party at Moonstar -- even the two surprise guests sleeping on the foldout sofa (who will be raving about the views from their pillow, by the way; the living room is a fantastic place to wake up!). In addition to the master bath, two full bathrooms serve the bedrooms and common areas of the house: one offers both a shower and tub option, while the other has a large walk-in shower. So many choices, so little waiting during the let's-get-out-and-have-fun morning rush!
The outdoor spaces at Moonstar are as irresistible as the interior. The rooftop deck is the star, an enormous area with seating for plenty and unobstructed views in all directions. You may be forgiven for thinking you're the king of the world when you stand here, surveying mountains, valley, and sky!
The large garden here is wonderful to explore, with many separate spaces offering statuary, man-made ponds, landscaping, and other features. Of course, you may find that the best part is the wilderness, full of natural New Mexico vegetation and wildlife. (Bring your binoculars!) For more sedate enjoyment of the outdoors, the large portal surrounding several sides of the house offers a big kiva fireplace just made for cold mountain evenings, with plenty of seating and table space for al fresco dining. Sit here and chat long into the night, sharing memories and listening to the birds sing their final songs of the day. Another Moonstar memory has been made!
Reserve your stay here as soon as you can. This wonderful house does book up quickly, so choose your dates and start packing your bags!

This home is signature Santa Fe—anadobe with tile and brick floors, big as throughout, with lots of Southwest art and decor. All the necessary amenities were provided.
The only disappointments were that the blinds had no cords to let in the beautiful SF light and the dishwasher wasn’t fixed after being told a plumber would be sent. The fans and window ac units were very much appreciated and took care of kate aftrn heat before it gets cool in the evenings. All in all, would stay at this property again.

This property has so much potential hence the title mixed feelings. My profession is a realtor and I travel a lot during the year. My family and I visit Santa Fe a couple times a year. The features I really liked about this property are location, the size of the house and lot, And the accommodations for large group with pets. The house can comfortably sleep eight people. I’m sure when this house were newer it was a fabulous property. However, I can fairly say that it is just tired and time for the home to be freshened and modernized. The walls and trim Definitely need to be repainted and all of the mattresses need to be replaced. Pretty uncomfortable. The management company did bring us a topper for one of the mattresses where you can fill the springs when you lay on it. The two leather chairs in the living room are torn and the sleeper sofa needs to be replaced. All of the sheets were very scratchy. Maybe too much starch. Most of the kitchen equipment is very old and very little kitchen tools to use if you’re cooking. We had to go out and buy wooden spoons and a mixer. The glassware is very minimal and what is there is very old. The tv’s need to be replaced by smart tvs so guests can stream. The throw blankets in the den are rough like tapestry. The lighting throughout the yard does not work so it is very dark and hard to see where you are walking or driving up the driveway. This has the potential to be a 5 star rating but it’s not right now.

This is a very lovely home, but unfortunately, does need some minor repairs and updating. The bedrooms and living areas are all well appointed. The home is NOT air conditioned - important for those considering a summer stay. The management company did bring in portable AC units, which made sleeping more comfortable, but the living areas could be warm in the afternoons. The roof deck is GORGEOUS at night to sit, enjoy a drink, and chat with friends. The only other drawback was a little rodent visitor, but all in all, a nice stay.

Everyone enjoyed their stay here! Upon arrival, we got to experience the great desert yard and views from the rooftop patio. It's close to town and not far from the mountain for skiing. The family spent most of the time hanging in the large kitchen, sitting by the outside fireplace, and catching sun on the rooftop patio. The dogs loved the open space to run and explore, but bring your tweezers as there are tons of ground cacti and you'll be plucking needles from their paws and legs frequently. They loved it nonetheless! We also experienced about 12" of snow throughout most of our trip - it was so lovely! I don't know if this is particularly normal weather for Santa Fe or if we experienced a fluke winter storm. As other reviews have mentioned, the dishwasher is not great - it leaves a gritty white residue on everything that may be solved by using a simple rinse aid. The mattress in the master bedroom has a dip in it that was pretty uncomfortable. An additional gate opener would also be super convenient for larger groups. Those minor things aside, we all had a great time and agreed that we would definitely stay here again!

Stayed the week of Xmas … did lots of cooking the kitchen was very poor . Old appliances.. nothing worked right .. very outdated. Dishes had an old film on them . For what we payed you would think the kitchen would have newer appliances and accessories.

The house is very private with a very large, natural yard, and lots of amazing art. The roof deck has amazing views. Very well stocked and comfortable. It would be helpful to have wood and lighters for all the wonderful fireplaces, or at least recommendations on where to buy it, we found wood and lighters at Ace Hardware.

Perfect property and location. The house is just as listed and the photos are accurate. The location could not have been better. Very close to Canyon Road galleries, restaurants, and shopping. There is also a great hiking trail less than a mile away.

We had a great stay for a week in August. Our party was 4 adults and 3 children under the age of 5, and we felt that there was plenty of room to stretch out. We could even take the kids on “nature walks” on the property. The views could not have been better. The only complaint we had was that the appliances in the kitchen could have used some updating - the fridge had trouble staying cold and the dishwasher never really seemed to get the dishes completely clean. Otherwise a perfect stay!

Fantastic house but needs work
Great location. Large, quiet, private, and very well decorated.
A few things are broken like the dish washer and the cooling system.
Managment company did not return my call.

Nice home…
Enjoyed our stay at this property. It’s very convenient to the Plaza, shopping, and Ski Santa Fe. The home is roomy and layer out well.
We did have a couple of issues. The home really smelled of cigarette smoke. We had to buy some Febreeze spray and plug-ins. Got back home with stinky clothes.
Also, the dishwasher did not drain properly, and water collected in the bottom. It had an unpleasant odor.

Cozy and spacious!
We had the best girls weekend in Santa Fe! We were celebrating my 40th bday and your house was perfect for us. It was conveniently located, clean, and spacious. I especially liked the skylights!
8.0
Accommodates family visiting settings and large dining table.
The home was comfortably clean but had two pretty big issues. The main one was a dishwasher that did not drain and so had stagnant water in the bottom for who knows how long.
The other was two sinks in the master bedroom that did not drain well.

False advertising!
This property, whilst looking beautiful from the outside and inside, is severely flawed. After arriving, we realised that the advertised AC was not working. After calling and informing the property management company we were simply told that the the AC isn't working. Nothing else, just that it wasn't working and that's it. The property management team had a horrible customer service team and even after calling the emergency number to resolve the issue, no one showed up to install the AC units. One would expect that in New Mexico, over the summer where the temperature can get extremely high, the AC would surely be functioning. NOT AT ALL, at least at this property. Anyone potentially looking at this place, I highly recommend you look somewhere else, unless you want to get cooked in the house over the summer months.

Friends trip
Beautiful home with beautiful views.
We did have issues with the stove and oven. But the maintenance man came quickly to resolve.
House was not stocked with some essentials like laundry soap, dishwasher soap, cabinet cleaner.
Bathroom toilets overflowed.
On the whole, a good experience.

Great stay
Great a management company that made the process seamless :) great property and location.

We stayed several nights. The house is a great size and layout. The rooftop terrace is amazing. We watched the sunset every night. We would stay again. There is an “old house” smell when you first come in but we just opened the windows to air it out. The only issue we had was the spotty internet. Not a big deal unless you have to work. Overall, a great experience.

Beautiful home and location
We loved how secluded the home felt, but we were a quick and easy drive in to Santa Fe. Building a fire every night and hanging out on the patio was a highlight. The kitchen was well stocked and made cooking easy for us. The portable A/C unit kept the main room cool during the day and at night we opened the windows in the bedrooms to stay cool. Thankfully, the nights were cool. I'm not sure how it would be in the summer. The internet is very slow and in at least one of the bedrooms we didn't get any coverage. Since we had two students zooming classes, it was a little stressful at times, but as long as the rest of us stayed off the internet when one of them had a class, it worked. All of us agreed that we would be excited to stay there again!

We loved our stay here and would come back. Kitchen had everything we needed. Beautiful home and grounds.

Nice house. Great location
Big property in great location. There was only one remote for gate which caused issues given we had 3 cars. AC was not good. Two rooms were really hot. Outdated but really functional and nice local decor. Picking up and dropping off keys is a pain.

We loved the peace and quiet of Cloudstone property. It is close to town and easy access to all amenities. The Moon Roof view was spectacular.

Beautiful house with magic sunsets view from rooftop - but need some TLC
We enjoyed our stay at the property despite a few issues. The house is beautiful and contains LOTS of art and decorative objects, it's like a museum! Very unique decorations. We also liked the location, the yard and the sunsets from the rooftop.
The communications with property manager were good. A/C was not working and we have received the partial refund for our stay.
We would stay here again if we're back in Santa Fe! Maybe just not in the middle of summer.
As for the things that could be improved, here were our observations:
Sharing with you some of our observations.
Important issue:
A/C needs to be fixed. The house needs it during the daytime when it gets too hot - for summer months
Get second gate opener (the house is for 10 people, so 2 cars. It's impossible to get out without a gate opener). Currently only 1 opener was provided.
Things to add:
Placemats for dining table (the house is for 10 percent, but only 6 placemats!)
Better quality frying pans/pans - these are very old/used
add 4 more wine glasses
Salad bowl
Oven mittens
Laundry detergent
Small table for the rooftop (can be simple plastic one)
One more hair dryer (so each bathroom would have one)
Nice to have:
Apron for the kitchen
Toaster

Moonstar was delightful
Our family had a wonderful stay at Moonstar... close enough to everything to be convenient, but just far enough out that we could enjoy relaxing in the peace and quiet.

Moonstar was Great!
Only one small issue was the wifi. We had some difficulty with login, but resolved without contacting management. Had a great fire in the fireplace each night. Wife loved the large bathtub. It's a great place for our 7 that we brought. With 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, everyone had plenty of space. The view from the roof was fantastic.

Wonderful vacation
This house is absolutely amazing. Beautiful architecture and furnishings. Totally comfortable and fun. The entire family had a great visit. The location is perfect, not in town so you have fantastic views both day and night but only a couple minutes to the plaza. We will be back!

Spring break house
We stayed for 3 nights very quiet neighborhood. Ac/ heater did not work but other then that our stay was good. We needed a propane tank replaced and they went right away to replace it.

Good if you know what to expect
This is the second year we have stayed in this property, and while it is clean, it needs some TLC. For instance one of the kitchen cabinets has a hair band to keep it closed. I had to buy wine glasses. The kitchen needs organization for sure. Things are feeling a bit shabby, in what has been basically a good place to stay.

Exquisite home
We enjoyed this property very much and hope to come again. Only drawback for us is that the air conditioner only cools one side of the house which has one bedroom while other three bedrooms are hot and stuffy for us, others may not be affected. The weather was conducive for us to open doors and cool it off in evenings and lots of fans were available. We want to come in the fall too!

Exceptional!
We had the most amazing stay at Moonstar! Beautifully accommodations, property and views of the sunset from the deck.. A perfect place for a weekend retreat with friends.
The management company was most helpful, too!

beautiful Santa Fe retreat
Loved the rooftop deck - perfect for watching sunsets. Great location away from the traffic near the plaza - nice and quiet, very private. Well appointed with linens and towels. Appreciated the food staples left by past guests. It was a very comfortable place for a large family meal with a beautiful dining room table that comfortably fit our family group of 9.

Quiet location, nice house
We enjoyed our family time at this house, especially the roof deck where we gathered to view gorgeous sunsets. The house was clean and well appointed. The air conditioning did not function, and the kitchen could use some organization. We would like to come back again in the future.

Great home, good views
The home was well kept and accommodated our two families well (4 adults and 6 children). Would stay there again.
