About this campervan rental

***Sasamat is only available for short weekends in 2024 and must stay in the Lower Mainland- Hope to Squamish are our boundaries. Please message for availability*** Please message your dates if interested. Best suited to couples looking for a getaway, Sasamat is a STANDARD (manual) transmission 1987 Westfalia. Please take time to read "Other things to Note", which will answer many of the standard questions we get asked. Please contact for booking requests. She is equipped with a new memory foam mattress for the bottom bed and a roomy upper bunk in the pop top, which can double as a storage space when parked for the night. Sasamat has a propane stove and sink with running water but no fridge. We provide a couple of coolers instead. We provide all the kitchen gear you need: pots and pans, plates and cutlery. Up front, a Sony stereo with radio, CD player and an auxiliary input. At more than 30 years old, Sasamat may not be the smoothest or quietest ride, but she makes up for that in personality and is fun to drive. Sure, there are some odd clicks and rattles, but whose bones aren't getting a bit creaky? We require all renters to sign up for Outdoorsy's breakdown assistance. Sasamat is OLD. This means there is a higher than normal chance of your vacation taking an adventurous turn when she breaks down on a highway, overheats on a hill or just decides not to start that day. Some things are quick and easy fixes we can either talk you through or can wait till your return. Any night you are unable to sleep in the van will be compensated at the daily rate. We keep her in excellent condition, service her regularly and show her all the love we can but we cannot guarantee it will always be smooth sailing. That's all part of westy-life! The name "Sasamat" is derived from the Salishan word Tsaa-tsmat, meaning "cool place," and is believed to be the Indigenous name for the Burrard Inlet. We're sure you'll find Sasamat a cool place in which to spend your next adventure!
