Home from home

An exceptionally well appointed holiday cottage in beautiful surroundings. Charming Hen Cottage is just that, charming. A large living area, beautifully decorated with a comfortable 2 seater recliner sofa and two easy chairs together with an electric fire meant plenty of room to relax, There is also a lovely large country-style kitchen with everything you need. Arriving for New Year we were greeted with Xmas decorations and lovely touches including Lincolnshire Plum Bread, cheeses, wine and beer. Honestly, our hosts could not have done more to make our stay a welcome one. Set in peaceful surroundings, the grounds of the owners property are there to explore including a medieval church. Lincoln is easily accessible as would be The Wolds and coast. After a hectic run-up to Xmas, the peace, quiet and comfort of Hen Cottage was an ideal location to unwind and relax.

We received a warm welcome from owners, who kindly provided milk, fresh eggs, delicious plum loaf and little hamper. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. We also liked the peaceful location of the grounds, with nice walks nearby and close proximity to Lincoln.

Hen Cottage, a place to escape and relax.

The cottage was relaxing, comfortable well equipped and very clean. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming with John greeting us at the gate and Natasha showing us around the cottage. Inside we was greeted with a lovely hamper, a delicious plum loaf and fresh eggs. You will have no problems getting cosy in the evenings. Hens Cottage is set in a beautiful peaceful location, just wish we could of stayed a little longer…. but we will surly be back.

Beautiful scenic location the hosts were very welcoming who met us on arrival. They left welcoming gestures such as a plum loaf which was delicious as well as goodies including cookies, crisps and fresh free range eggs.

Pleasant and relaxing stay!

The hospitality, cleanliness, decor, amenities and location were amazing!! We have recommended Hen Cottage to all our family and friends. The welcoming that we had on arrival and the level of detail (including homemade and fresh goodies) made it so homely, that we were sad to leave. Thank you!

perfect accommodation to relax & unwind after a day exploring the many parks, historic sites & other attractions

the property was clean, comfortable & has everything you could need for a lovely holiday also, the owners had made plum bread & included eggs, milk & some goodies which added a special touch. It was lovely to watch the chickens roam around & we enjoyed having a coffee in the little courtyard.

Fantastic cottage, in a lovely location. Immaculate throughout and very comfortable. Lots of little extras like farm eggs and plum loaf made it special.

The hosts were very helpful and friendly. The cottage was exceptionally clean and well equipped. It is situated in lovely surroundings and is very quiet. Perfect for relaxing.

The bed size was fine for smaller people but would have been too small for tall people.

Good location for Lincoln and the ancient lime woods but rather flat farmland for local walks

Very spacious apartment and grounds and lots of lovely extras like the plum cake. Peaceful and relaxing with hens for company. Everything was spotlessly clean. Outdoor 3 pin electric socket and allowed to charge my car for no extra cost. Thank you!

The cooker was small and basic, difficult to use because the hot plates were high up. The wifi was not reliable enough to stream a film.

The cottage was situated in some lovely well maintained grounds. The hosts made us very welcome. The cottage was very comfortable with every facility required and a number of little treats.

Ideal for a couple of days or longer.

Everything about this property is superb. The hosts, location and standard of accommodation are second to none. Ideal for my purposes as I like to tour by motorcycle, ideal for days out at the coast and riding the Wolds. I'm always concerned about security of the bike but absolutely no problems here!

Charming and peaceful countryside retreat

We really enjoyed our stay at this charming peaceful cottage. The hosts greeted us upon our arrival and were very welcoming, making us feel right at home. The plum bread and complimentary basket were lovely touches. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Would definitely love to return!

Restful calming just what we needed a little Jem.

That the property was off the road and behind gates,so it made it private and secure and my dogs were safe and could not get out.The cottage was cosy and just what we needed and was clean and had tasteful furnishings.And the little extras was obviously thought out like towels for the dogs.And some lovely homemade Lincoln plum cake to welcome you.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

The location was lovely and the room was tastefully decorated and the complimentary hamper and cake were a great touch.

Only a personal note is that we are used to a larger bed and did find it a bit small although very comfortable 😁

Perfection

The whole stay from booking, communication with the owners, meeting them on arrival and the 3 nights we spent were all perfect. The property is immaculate and beautifully decorated and well laid out. Everything has been thought of. From the most comfortable bed to the freshly laid eggs from the resident hens and the chilled bottle of Prosecco . There was even a welcome pack with snacks, cake and jams on our arrival If there was an 11 out of 10 rating then this property would deserve it.
