I left in a better frame of mind than when I arrived--an outcome of considerable value.
I immediately liked the owner, Carol, who met me when I arrived and provided good information to help my stay. Later, I appreciated that the house was so close to extensive walking/biking pathways, a close drive to University of Waterloo, and within walking distance (if one likes exercise) of grocery stores. The house, itself, was so much nicer than a hotel room. The assorted collection of teas, coffees, and spices, in addition to fresh milk in the refrigerator, plus a full complement of clean cutlery and dishes, offered convenience and contributed to my feeling welcomed. A variety of books, including one about T.E. Lawrence, and photographs from far-off places were fun discoveries. For my one-night stay, it was perfect.
I don't recall anything that I did not like. Since I was in the house alone, I can't comment on what it would be like with other guests. I am the sort that is tempted to sleep in a tent or vehicle while travelling; so for me, this was definitely a bit of a splurge. I made a good decision :)

Amazing house and host - lots of emails
Superb cleaning. The house is beautiful and comfortable. Nice complementary snacks in the room and coffee/tea in the kitchen. we didn’t use the kitchen but it was immaculate and well equipped. The host is wonderful: very pleasant, welcoming and gave us good recommendations of local places to eat. very responsive to messages
not about the property but the booking process. I booked two rooms and got overwhelmed by the number of emails with instructions, conditions, confirmations, etc I also understand the reason of asking for a $130 deposit for each room but it was something I didn’t deal with before and if I knew while scrolling properties, I would have passed (maybe I missed it in the portal but it it was not informed clearly until after sending the conditions of the reservation and received a lot of admin emails for only one night stay)

Exceptional
The house was very nice and homey! Everything was very comfortable. I usually have a hard time sleeping in new places but this was not an issue here. It was very relaxing. The owner is also very friendly and made sure that I was comfortable during my stay. The place is also close to the university which was convenient for me. I had a lovely time!
