Fantastic location, excellent host (Caesar is the man - super welcoming, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable), great staff, overall a wonderful hostel to stay at for short or long periods of time.
Nothing :)

Vriendelijke ontvangst door de nieuwe uitbaters die alles wouden doen om ons verblijf top te maken.
Sommige kamers kunnen best eens een opfrissing gebruiken

The room was ok, bed was fine, pretty big, garden is nice and it was more of less close to the beach.
The kitchen is a bit small, one of the bathrooms didn’t have warm water.

The hostel has an amazing atmosphere, you feel right at home.
There are only 2 toilet for everyone staying in the dorm plus the private rooms.

There’s a ton of hammocks set up in all of the common spaces for relaxing. The setting was very beautiful as you were pretty much in the jungle. The location was great as it was about a 15 minute walk to Uvita, Marino Bellena, and Bahia. Laundry was cheap and prompt!
There weren’t fans for all of the beds. This wasn’t a problem for me because I was the only one staying there but would definitely have been an issue if I didn’t have a fan as it was pretty hot. It is kind of in the middle of nowhere and there aren’t many street lights on the dirt road that it’s off of so it wasn’t ideal to walk around at night.

Cesar the owner is wonderful, the price is great and the common area and gardens are lovely. Also very cute dogs!

chill youthful vibe country setting
very much a surf camp idea. go in with the idea of a surf camp and you’ll be good.
different noises than usual at night - more dogs, fewer loud motorbikes, maybe a little late-night foosball (not a problem depending on your room location).
very convenient to the national park beach, setting with hammocks and plants. good kitchen.
go with a camping/surf camp mindset - if this is your vibe, great - you’ll sweat and see bugs and frogs and lizards, maybe a bat! if you want a little more refinement or bougie comforts, it’s not for you.

The staff was brilliant, the area around the rooms was super nice and green,
A bit far from the beach and stores but possible to rent a bike or you can enjoy a walk if you have time

everything the garden , the beds , the girls at reception and all the staff they even serve organic coffee and tea all day long
better rent a bike to go around town otherwise walking around supermarkets, beaches and rivers will be around 15 to 20min . they have really good deals with the bikes..

I liked the very nice volunteers that gave a real soul to the hostel.
I like the kitchen close to the bathroom, the gas stove was very useful and functional, the kitchen was well equipped (and that's rare for hostels in costa Rica).
I didn't appreciate the expensive prices for activities and bike rental they proposed, it literally removed all the pleasure of staying there. One may argue that Uvita is expensive, but guess what you still manage to find all prices if you search well. Downing a bit the prices or making better deals (especially for bikes) would make the hostel better publicity!
The competition for hostels is high, I bet that people would be more likely to choose a hostel that has an interesting personality, I think the volunteers helped a lot but you can do better. Maybe investing more within the garden, so that it can be a place to hang out with a beautiful light for example.

Nice common area with hammocks
Fresh fruits in the morning
I was in a very small dorm next to the kitchen.
5.0 / 10.0
Quiete area, spacious common area, few hamoks, tables & sitting area, garden
4 bed dorm:
- is aprox. 8 m2 big with almost no space for personal belongings.
- mosquito net in front of window broken, thus in the night mosquitoes are in the room.
- picture of booking is not the same like what you get. We got offered a dorm with a sick person instead of our tiny dorm. Thanks for that.
- not enough lockers available.
- is next to kitchen and common area, thus very noisy
- almost no fresh air enters the room. It is very humid & sticky, impossible to sleep there if the rain didn't clean the air.
- wifi not working in the room, outside of dorm with continuous interruptions
- towel receipt depends on luck
- no friendly welcome and flexibility with check in with me arriving at 9.30 am by german volunteer
- hammoks need a wash
- tryed to cancel 3rd night 3 days in advance which wasn't possible
- Saw manager once in 4 days for a couple of hours apart from that no one around for days who feels responsible for anything or can provide any reliable information.

It was very clean and very good value for money.
The kitchen is really comfortable and clean.
There is a very nice common area and cool atmosphere.
I recommend it
Everything was good in general. A small supermarket is within 10 minutes walk. The beach is 15-20mins away and the town is like 20 minutes away, but most of the hotels are in the area.

We instantly felt like home. Enjoyed the yoga classes, or just chilling in the garden reading a book. Even after a check out we went back and cooked together with the travel buddies. If I ever come back to Costa Rica, this is the go to place!

The best kitchen I have used during my trip. If you're into cooking, stay here. The surrounding garden adds a lot to the location, it's easy to feel at home here. Also, staff was more than helpful.
The two hammocks behind the bamboo wall are uncomfortable and are installed incorrectly.

The staff was excellent. There are plenty of good restaurants and a supermarket within a 10 minute walk. The hostel is charming, with beautiful surroundings --- and it is quiet.
The only drawback for me was the location. It is a bit isolated and the dirt road is the worst in town, i think.
