Manasota Key, a quiet barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico is located just south of Longboat Key, Lido Key, Siesta Key, and Casey Key. It is also just north of Fort Meyers and Sanibel Island. You can day trip to explore some of these other beaches and return to the comfort of your own home away from home each night.
The Sugar Shack has been recently updated with new ceramic tile throughout the living areas & kitchen and new carpet in the bedrooms. It comes complete with WIFI and high-speed internet, if you choose to stay "on the grid", however after a day or so in paradise, getting off-the-grid becomes much easier.
The Primary bathroom is finished with a granite counter top, ceramic tile floor, and combination tub shower. Guest bathroom has a granite counter top and a ceramic tile stall shower. There is also an outdoor shower to wash off your sandy feet.
All 3 bedrooms have over-sized closets and televisions for your enjoyment. The primary (upstairs) bedroom has a queen bed, the downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the bunk room has a full over full bunk bed with a full put out trundle & an additional twin bed.
Imagine being located on Manasota Key and staying less than 150 yards from the beach!
Lounge in the sun or under the moonlight on the 2nd floor large deck, or enjoy some R&R on the large covered ground lanai spending your time on the porch swing or hammocks. Enjoy your meals under the lanai, the ceiling fans will help keep you cool as you take in all this property has to offer.
At night enjoy sitting by the propane fire as you make S'mores and talk about the memories you created at Manasota Key.
If the beach is more your thing, which we suspect it probably is, fill up the Sugar Shack's beach-wagon with the supply of beach toys for the kids, chairs and umbrella to enjoy the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We also provide 2 adult Kayaks, 2 kid kayaks, 2 paddle boards, and life jackets that you can be used during your stay (based on the condition from the previous guests).
If fishing is more up your alley use our poles (based on the condition from the previous guests) and fish from the beach, or from Lemon Bay. Both are under 150 short steps away from the Sugar Shack.
Shell & shark tooth hunting is a popular way to also pass the time on Manasota Key, you won't come home empty handed. You will find more shark teeth here than any other beach around us.
Cruise around the Island on one of the bikes or scooters that we provide. We offer lots of sizes of bikes and helmets so that your whole family can enjoy (based on the condition from the previous guests). There is also a bike stroller if needed so the whole family can enjoy this activity.
The Sugar Shack has all of the cooking utensils you need to make your favorite meals at your home away from home. There are several restaurants with live entertainment that are a short jaunt from the home (walking or bike riding distance for most). Our family of 6 had a fantastic stay at the Sugar Shack! Location can’t be beat - a block from the beach and a block to the bay. Very quiet street and neighborhood. So relaxing! The home had everything you could need and then some. Kayaks were awesome to have. Beach gear and shark hunting gear was available. There was a storm the day before our arrival and Brian was in touch with us ahead of time to keep us posted on status of the home. Everything worked out perfectly and we would love to stay here again in our next vacation!

If your looking for a location away from the tourist traps and close to a great gulf beach then this is it. Our family flew to Florida for the first time and were concerned with not having all the stuff we normally take to a beach. Well this house has everything. I mean everything. Chairs, coolers, canopies, umbrellas, wave boards, kayaks, etc. That was the outside stuff. The inside was more than equipped as well. Great communication from the owner, and plenty of local info for places to eat and stuff to do. Overall an A+. My family would love to come back again.

My family and I loved this property so much during our visit last year that we booked the property again this year and will probably make this an annual family getaway. The house is in a great location, has great sleeping options and includes tons of amenities (i.e. paddle boards/kayaks, beach equipment, bikes, etc.). The hosts are equally as great...very accommodating and super communicative.

The Sugar Shack provided us with an amazing location for easy beach access…quick walk to a quieter beach (compared to the larger and much more populated public beach area one would have to drive to), and an even shorter walk to watch the sunrise on the bay in the mornings! Our family (mom, dad, grandma, and boys, ages 11,9 and 7) had an amazing time making memories and relaxing. Thanks for a great place to do that, Sugar Shack!

Everything we packed was literally already there to use.
Kayaks, life jackets, beach stuff, coolers, bikes, and even an ice machine which was awesome!!
It is only 6 houses from the beach or to the bay side where we took the kayaks out.
We had a great time.

We couldn’t have asked for anything more during our stay. We were concerned about not being beachfront. But the walk was only a couple of minutes. The home was equipped with everything you could need, the most well stocked home we had ever stayed.

We had a nice little stay despite the weather on Manasota in the Sugar Shack. It’s easy access from the island entrance, easy walk to both the intercoastal and ocean side. There were lots of amenities in the outdoor shed, things to do in the water (which we didn’t this time around), and lots of bikes. The bottom entry floor is a little tight but when you’re mostly just using the house for sleeping it’s ok. The main floor and living area worked out great. I would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Manasota!

Sugar Shack is ideally located within steps to either the Gulf or Lemon Bay so sun rises and sunsets are incredible. One could be swimming with manatees or kayaking with dolphins. All amenities are provided so you just need your clothes and toothbrush practically. Great restaurants within walking distance. Yoga on the beach daily. Bikes are provided too. Our family of 4 had the best time. This place is 5 stars!!!!

We had a great time! The Sugar Shack location was perfect, short walk to the ocean & a short walk to the bay. We loved the lanai and the second story deck. Great places to sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze. The host and hostess responded quickly to our questions and were so friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable

Sugar Shack was very comfortable for seven of us. We love to cook and the kitchen was well appointed for that purpose. There were plenty of comfortable sleep options for all of us. We enjoyed the deck and patio spaces for hanging out and eating meals. The location was convenient to Stump pass park and the beach with great places to enjoy bike riding, walks and beach sunsets. The space was light, bright, clean and comfortable. Brian and Brittany were easy to contact and responsive to our questions. We had a wonderful our time!

Cannot say enough good things about this rental! It met every need our family had for the week from beach towels to bikes to Band-Aids to Momentos to bring home our seashells! Very clean and very comfortable. 150 steps to the bay and 150 steps to the sandy beach. Super bikeable to nearby tasty local restaurants too!

Our family had a wonderful stay and we're hoping to come back again next year! The house is comfortable and spacious with plenty to do indoors and out. We especially enjoyed morning and evening kayaking and paddling on the bay with the dolphins and manatees! The house was so well-equipped that we really shouldn't have packed a full suitcase. All we really needed was a carryon with a swimsuit and toothbrush! Thank you for a great stay full of family memories.

Everything about this place was great. The location is awesome, the beach is full of shark teeth just waiting to be found, and just the ease of the rental process was great. They provide everything you could want to spend all day out on the beach, even kayaks for the bay side. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of vacationing in or around Manasota Key.

We loved our stay on Manasota Key, it was just our speed. The small town feel with great spaces to explore made this our favorite Florida destination, I almost hate to draw attention to it. We loved walking the short walk to our beach every day and we enjoyed exploring Stump Pass and Blind Pass beaches. We are spoiled for other beaches now— finding so many sharks teeth was very exciting. We even took the kayaks and paddle boards out in the bay and had a dolphin swim right past us. We will most definitely be back.

The house was nice, clean, and had everything you need. I highly recommend this listing not just for the house and all that it comes with, but also for the location. The Gulf side beach was really nice, but the bay access is also a dream. We kayaked and paddle boarded and saw lots of wildlife in the water. Would stay here again!

We had the best family vacation! Brian and Brittany have thought of everything to ensure a fun and very convenient and stress free stay for a family with little kids. We LOVED our stay at Sugar Shack! The location cannot be beat. You are steps away from the beach and the bay, you really get the best of both worlds on this quite, beautiful, peaceful street! My family (myself, husband & 2 boys 8,10) stayed with my sister’s family (her, husband, girl 2, boy 4). There was plenty of space for all of us to comfortably exist. Scooters and bikes provided fun transportation to the beach and bay and made for adorable photos of children riding towards the beach grass and sand under the palm trees. The wagons, umbrellas, chairs and beach toys made each trip to the beach effortless. We found hundreds of sharks teeth and shells on the beach as well as two whole sand dollars!! Swimming with fish provided magical experiences for all of us. Each morning we saw new sea turtle nests and we’re amazed by the tracks left behind! In the bay, we were delighted to see dolphins swim by and in the shallow waters we were able to observe beautiful sea urchins, crabs, hermit crabs and whelks! It was a relaxing vacation that provided memories and experiences which will stay with us forever. We would love to stay there again and highly recommend the Sugar Shack!! We had a potential hiccup on our stay and when we notified the owner, Brian, he was incredibly responsive! His property mgr was onsite within the hour and as we were checking out a crew was onsite to fix the issue before an actual problem arose. Trust you are in great hands at the Sugar Shack!

The place is in the best place we could have asked for. Just two minute walk to the beach. The beach was awesome. The house was great. Big enough to have a little privacy when we needed it. Couldn't believe all the amenities that were available. Thank you so much for a great vacation that will be remembered for a long time.

This home is in a great location and includes a number of great amenities to make for an excellent vacation choice for our family. They have plenty of bikes for all ages that we got good use out of (along with a number of scooters which we didn't actually get to using). The four kayaks and two paddle boards provided hours of fun. They include some wheel carts to allow for easy transport to the kayak launches. On top of all this, they have a closet full of beach related items (boogie boards, sand toys, life jackets, flippers), and a beach wagon for easy transporting. Our family enjoyed many hours down at the beach, which is generally low traffic. The downstairs porch was a great place to relax, between the hammocks, the fire pit, and some grilling time. We also enjoyed a lot of time on the deck upstairs in a more private setting. The host was extremely prompt in answering questions and pleasant to interact with. overall, our family would highly recommend this home to others.

Comfy and casual cottage in Perfect location, close to everything, yet private and quiet. There was a cold snap during our visit , so we didn’t have a chance to take full advantage of all the amenities— Bikes, beach toys, fishing poles, board games, you name it. It was Impossible for anyone to be bored. We come to Manasota key twice per year to visit family, and this house was probably the best.

The house was great. We stayed close to a month and had family and friends come to stay with us. Loved the rooms and bathroom on the main floor for them to use and was easy for them to bring in luggage. We stayed at house for close to a mouth and I felt at home. That is very unusual for me. My husband and kids loved it also, so we booked again for next year.
Brain was also great and felt like friends from day one.
Area is safe and so much to do. We love Manasota Key.

The home is beautiful. It is very well equipped for anyone's vacation. The owners have thought of, and have included everything to help you enjoy and relax. The location is great. It's a nice quiet street. The beach is beautiful. The water is amazing. The owners are super nice and great to work with. I will be returning to this home when I can.

We were looking for a nice place to stay, have some fun, be close to the beach, and be able to relax. The Sugar Shack was just what we were looking for. Comfortable and relaxing, and close to the beach. We lived everything and left wanting to come back again. This was our first family vacation to the ocean and we couldn’t have picked a more magical location or house to stay in! Manasota Key was breathtakingly beautiful. Everyone there was extremely friendly and welcoming. We felt safe and at home the entire time. The beach was amazing and never over crowded, sometimes we felt like we had it to ourselves! I don’t enjoy touristy places, I enjoy a calm and off the beaten path feel- that is exactly what we got here. The Sugar shack was a very short walk to the beach/ ocean and in the opposite direction to the bay. Our family loved the kayaks, paddle boards, beach toys, and all the accessories/necessities -including umbrellas and life jackets. Our kids found over 200 shark teeth on the beach! They put them in the adorable keepsake corked bottles that we left for us to use!
Manatees swam up to us on the ocean and it was an experience we will never forget! We also found crabs, stingrays, sea urchins, sand dollars, awesome shells, and got to hang out with the turtle patrol! We also had dolphins swim up to us on Turner beach in Captiva while on a day trip.
The house was very cozy and we had everything we would have ever wanted or needed and more! Such a cute place! We didn’t want to leave and cannot wait to come back!

The location was great.
0.1 of a mile from the beach sand. Cross a non-busy street and you are right there with a 2 minute walk. The beach itself was beautiful and very quiet, we had it almost to ourselves.
The bay is even closer and a great place to throw kayaks in.
The entire area was laid back, not touristy at all. The neighborhood was very quiet and friendly. Several restaurants w/ live music and outdoor seating were an easy walk.
Sugar Shack had everything we needed for a great family vacation.
Having plenty of beach towels, beach blankets, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, a wagon to haul them out to the beach saved a lot of hassle worrying about bringing those things or buying there
The kayaks and paddleboards were awesome to have as well. Saved us $ not having to rent them
The kitchen and bathrooms were fully stocked and included more than we'd even expected.
The condo was decorated very nicely, and laid out very well for the entire family.
We enjoyed sitting on the front lanai - plenty of chairs and a couple ceiling fans made it a great space to hang out
The owner was very communicative to us, kept us up to date on what to expect, and responded in minutes to a few questions we had
All in all, we'd highly recommend

This property is absolutely fantastic! We had a fairly large family of 8 and we had plenty of room for everyone to spread out and unwind. All of the add ons like the bicycles, kayaks and wave boards were a great addition to our beach experience and we used all of them multiple times. Manasota Key is absolutely a gorgeous place in itself with lovely beaches, parks in convenient locations and nice restaurants within walking distance if need be. Overall I really do believe this home was even better than advertised!! Highly recommended for a large, medium or even small family who want to have everything they could ever need in a beach rental!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
We loved everything about this fantastic vacation rental. Plenty of sleeping space for our party of 7 with beds to spare! Well stocked kitchen. So many extra amenities - beach gear, paddle boards and kayaks, bikes! The outdoor shower was so perfect to wash all that sand away before entering the home! And the location - a three minute walk to the beach. Loved every minute! Will definitely be back!! Thanks you so much!

Amazing House in the Perfect location!!
This house is absolutely wonderful!!! It is in the perfect location between the beach and the bay, has lots of room for everyone, and there are too many extras to list!! We really enjoyed the kayaks and the bikes! We spent alot of time in the bottom patio area just hanging out. It was wonderful!! We are already planning out next stay!
