About this house rental
If you’re looking for the perfect large gathering space, there is room for even the extended family here! Take a trip that is reminiscent of going to your grandparents’ log home or summer camp. Swim, swing, make S’mores, work puzzles, play board games, tennis, or basketball, kayak, bring your own boat for fishing or play or rent one locally. There is a boat ramp and a loading dock, but no overnight docking.

We had a very large group get together for a lake vacation and we could not have asked for a better house. There was so much space for us all to gather and spend time together. The house was very clean. The owners provided us with so much (everything needed for cooking, so many towels and pool towels, etc.). Ron was very responsive, even at 5:30 in the morning when the entire neighborhood lost power for a brief time, he responded immediately and called the power company for us to figure out what was going on. The lake is right across the street for a boat launch. We rented a boat and had an amazing boat day! We will definitely be coming back soon.

This is a fantastic location with equally fantastic owners. We ranged in age from 7 month to 59 years with a total of 18 people and we were all comfortable. With the pool, tennis courts, and playground, fun was had by all. The owners were so responsive and provided everything we needed. With the house layout, it was easy to gather as a group or find a quiet corner. I could not recommend this site more

We had the best time at this beautiful house! There was plenty of space for our group to spread out or come together. The office worked great for a grand daughter’s online class and a daughter’s zoom meeting. We enjoy cooking on our vacations and this kitchen had everything we needed. The pool was especially great on the 90+ days. We found lots of things to do in the surrounding area. This house helped make a perfect vacation for our 4 generations.

A great rustic log cabin for bringing family together! The room with the fireplace is like a private longue with piano. My nephew brought his guitar and we sung around the fire. Only complaint would be too many drop rugs which are tripping hazards for older people. We just rolled them up and put them out of the way where necessary.

My Sister Cousins all met at this beautiful property for the weekend. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything that you can imagine. The home was clean. There was plenty of space to sleep, rest, play games, eat and just have a good time. Thank you!

Not only were our hosts communicative, but left us a sweet welcome sign and treats. They went above and beyond, providing extra chairs and tables. The house is amazing, pool refreshing, and area beautiful. Would recommend this rental to anyone.

We chose this property primarily for the pool. Being our 2nd biannual Family Reunion, we wanted everyone to have fun in the sun with a Pool Party Cookout! That could have gone awry but thanks to the responsiveness and care of the Host, he came out first thing the next morning, after a messy storm left lots of debris in the pool, and cleaned it spotless! We stayed in the pool all day having a blast!
The home accommodated our growing family of 20+ just fine with a few tweaks of sleeping arrangements. Blow up beds may be more comfortable than the pull out sofas metal and thin mattress, as a heads up.
We could also tell cleaning wasn't as thorough as we'd hope in the bathrooms as one bathroom had sticky counters and the toilet seat had residue and the family room hadn't been swept of a couple dead bugs and quite a bit of cat hairs on the side tables and chairs. We knew there were pets here and we brought 2 small dogs ourselves so we didn't complain about that. It was just more obvious that some areas were less tended to than others for deep cleaning.
Otherwise, it was already said of the family, they'd stay here again. The hosts have thought of EVERYTHING! For all ages of the family in every area of vacationing. And the sweet surprise of sliced cake loaf varieties that welcomed us on day one was so thoughtful!
We appreciated the character of this home, all of the accommodations, especially the communication and actions of the hosts. The proximity of food/shopping is great

I cannot say enough good things about this home and these hosts. We were married on Saturday by the pool under the lights of the pergola. The venue was perfect for our celebration. Ron and Joy went above and beyond to help us prepare for our big day and make it special!

We celebrated Chapin HS Class of 1983 40 year reunion...we had close to 60+ classmates and friends over to enjoy this wonderful occasion...It was heartwarming to see so many beautiful smiles/hugs/tears of joy remembering our time together..."the days may be long but the years are short"

This house is beautiful inside and out. We had our first family reunion here and it was a blast. It had everything we needed and more. Tons of room inside for the older generation to be comfortable and lots of activity spaces outside for all ages. Ron is super quick to answer any questions and was very accommodating. We will definitely be back if another family event is in Chapin.

My family stayed here for 5 days for my daughter's graduation from University of South Carolina. We were looking for someplace where we could celebrate and relax away from the craziness of downtown Columbia. Our stay was perfect. The hosts knew we were coming for graduation. When we arrived they had left Happy Graduation messages in the house along with treats. The house is beautiful, clean, and a perfect Oasis for a relaxing stay. The main bedroom on the first floor was perfect for the Grandparents and there was plenty of room for parents and siblings. We hosted a dinner at the house and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. The screened in porch was perfect for breakfasts and dinners and the upper deck and pool patio were great reading spots. It was quite relaxing listening to all the different birdsongs in the backyard.
Everyone loved the house and I highly recommend it. We felt like we were staying with friends. The hosts were extremely gracious and helpful.

The house was beautiful. The host was great. We did move many rugs because fear of sliding or tripping. The site said cats have been in the house, but there was lots of cat hair. Some of our ladies began having reactions to the cats.
There were some soft boards on the ramp. Step downs from different levels had been adjusted but seemed narrow..
We really enjoyed the grill and outdoor space. I think we forgot to replace covers on grill and table. It was a very well equipped house.

This home was awesome! When we first walked in we were surprised to find a coffee cake and sign for the wedding. They have thought of everything you could possibly need away from home. We had family in from Ohio for my daughter's wedding. Having this house made the stay amazing. We had a total of 11 people representing three families - five children five and under. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of toys and books for children. This became the extended family gathering place - plenty of rooms and space to visit with folks. It was a great weekend!

Perfect size house for large,mixed age group. Huge pool with lots of floats and seating. Few minutes to Publix and close to Lake. The owners have pets, cats and dogs so there is some pet hair. We were out round the pool most of the time and it did not worry us. We had a great vacation.

This property had everything we needed to have a great time together. The pool was the highlight, for sure. We enjoyed our coffee in the screened in porch each morning and the pool was shaded each afternoon to insure no one got sunburned. If you are allergic to pets, avoid the living room sofa. But, everywhere else is fine for you. The grandson loved the books and puzzles, too!

This house was fantastic for our family reunion! We had people come from all over the US and this place had enough space for us all. The beds were great and the house was clean. They even left little touches like notes and baked goods which were really appreciated! We were sad it was cold and rainy during our stay, but the house had plenty of space for us to enjoy our time inside. Would definitely recommend!

The Lake House
What a wonderful stay, Ron and Joy are super hosts! They have thought of every little detail! Their home is perfect for family gatherings! Our PA family traveled to visit with our SC family as we laid our mother to rest. Joy and Ron left us a wonderful welcome note, it felt like they were part of the family as well! It meant so much to us all.
Their home is right next to the community basketball and tennis courts and they provide all the necessary accessories for multiple outside activities. The home is also right across from a lake inlet, community gazebo and playground.
The welcoming front porch: cozy and comfortable with a down home cottage charm, fall decorations, flowers, and accessories. The front porch is perfect for morning coffee and front porch sittin’ and overlooks the lake inlet.
When we entered, everyone was like wow! Ron and Joy’s home has that wonderful homey feel and makes you so comfortable. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with everything and more than we expected! That made prepping and cooking meals so wonderfully easy, it was like we were at home. The Keurig machine was a plus, though they have a drip coffee maker as well that kept our coffee piping hot for those that slept in. Ron and Joy had an emergency first aid kit in the pantry that we thankfully did not have to use.
The rest of the first floor housed a great little office with more beautiful plants and cozy sitting area. It was a great spot to go for some quiet reading. And games, puzzles, and cards galore! We couldn’t believe the assortment! Plus, books-books-books! There was no reason for anyone to be bored. Plus the upstairs game room was equipped with a video game system, foosball tables and more books, games and cards! The front great room was super comfy with couches and recliners and was a great spot to catch our favorite home teams playing, not to mention another great gathering area to just catch up with family.
Each of the bedrooms were tidy, well-lit and well-stocked with linens and towels. It was a great touch that each room had their own towels, so wonderfully stocked in little labeled baskets. The owners wonderfully labeled the closets and cabinets where extras were located. The beds were great – everyone complimented on how well they slept.
We had a great experience at Ron & Joy’s Lake House, it is truly a treasure and a great location for families – young and old, with so much to do and for those family bonding experiences. We will be back!
