The home features 8 spacious bedrooms, and 10 Bathrooms, featuring fireplaces and whirlpool tubs in every room. Year-round activities such as hiking, fishing, swimming, snowmobiling, and kayaking. Hickory Pocono Cabin is the center of year-round recreational fun in the Pennsylvania Mountains.

In addition to the natural beauty and relaxation of our Cabin and the surrounding State Parks, there are many commercial activities easily accessible from our facility. These include:

18 Public golf courses within 20 miles
3 Downhill ski slopes; Jack Frost, Big Boulder, and Camelback
10 Regional wineries
3 Horseback riding venues
Pocono International Raceway
A host of historical and quaint venues such as Eckley Miners' Village, Lehigh Tannery, and Jim Thorpe

Our premium whirlpool tubs in each room downstairs and the main bedroom upstairs are specifically designed by Sanijet. Each tub is equipped with six independent motorized jets. There are no pipes to hold standing water and the specially insulated motors are extremely quiet. We selected these special "ductless" whirlpool tubs to ensure the highest degree of cleanliness while providing the ultimate relaxing experience.

First-floor rooms were designed based on the various hardwoods found around the five-acre property: maple, birch, oak, and cherry. Each room has its own unique qualities and views of the wooded estate.

The common area includes a large entertainment and sitting area with a state-of-the-art big screen and surrounds sound for movies and special TV events. A movie theater in the basement, a playroom with billiards, an arcade, air hockey, and a ping pong table. A three-story stone fireplace offers a place to relax on comfortable chairs. The dining area is open to the kitchen and can seat 20+ people

Winter at Hickory Cabin offers the cold weather enthusiast a host of activities. Snow begins to fall typically in mid-November through mid-March in the Poconos. The Hickory cabin itself is located at a 1200 ft. elevation making for spectacular winter views outside each guest room window while you can remain warm and cozy inside your individually thermostatic controlled room with a fireplace. The Pocono region features three downhill ski resorts; Jack Frost, Big Boulder, and Camelback. Both Hickory Run State Park and Lehigh Valley Gorge State Park offer endless miles of trails for cross-country skiing and snow-shoe hiking.

Winter is also a time to enjoy the state parks. Most trails are open for hiking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. Some trails in the State game-lands and State Parks that surround the Inn at Hickory Run allow snowmobiling. Please feel free to ask us about the location of trails and appropriate requirements for use. There are a host of winter activities not far from the Inn that makes for a fun stay.

Spring
Spring at Hickory Cabin brings streams full of snowmelt. It is the perfect time for white-water kayaking, rafting, and the start of the fishing season. The Francis E. Walter Dam releases water to the Lehigh River on a regular basis throughout the spring and summer months delivering water flow for Class 2 and 3 whitewater. Several outfitters are available in White Haven for the run down to Jim Thorpe. Located less than four miles from the Lehigh River in White Haven, guests can enjoy a hearty breakfast before a half or whole-day 30-mile white water adventure to Jim Thorpe or Glen Onoko. Several outfitters are available in White Haven for the run down to Jim Thorpe.

Fishing season begins in April with river fly-fishing, small stream bait fishing, as well as lake fishing in state game lands and in the park.

Summer

Summer at the Hickory cabin offers plenty of recreation. The days are warm, the nights are cool, and the humidity is low. It is the best time of the year for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, golfing, and touring the historical sites of the Pocono region.

The Pocono Raceway heats up in June with the annual Pocono NASCAR Race. The Inn at Hickory Run is also a partner with Stock Car Racing Experience at Pocono Raceway. The race track is only a couple of miles away from the Inn. Book your reservations early to ensure the room and days are preferred Summer is also a time to explore the history of the Poconos including Eckley's Miners Village, Jim Thorpe, and Lehigh River canals and railroads. Let us know your interests beforehand and we will help you plan an exciting excursion day! The region offers a host of wineries. The wineries offer a wide range of local vintages and in most cases, you can enjoy a meal with your wine tasting experience while enjoying breathtaking views of the Pocono mountains.

Fall
Fall is by far the most colorful season at the Inn. Beginning in mid-September, the birch, maple, oak, cherry, and other hardwoods turn the region into a splendid display of foliage colors. The scenery while hiking the trails of Hickory Run and Lehigh Gorge State Parks is spectacular. The Audubon Society's car touring route passes right in front of the Hickory Cabin if you like to drive, or you can simply enjoy one of the area's many fall foliage festivals.

Fall is also the best season for biking the Lehigh Gorge Trail. The trail can be accessed near the Inn and runs for more than 25 miles down to Jim Thorpe. Many of our guests enjoy a breakfast with us, ride down to Jim Thorpe for lunch, and return to the Inn for an enjoyable evening at one of many local restaurants.

Golf courses remain open until early November. Fall is also a time to get one last kayak run on the Lehigh River or to catch the native trout that have eluded spring and summer anglers.

Nights are definitely cool, but you will enjoy relaxing next to one of our outdoor fireplaces near our waterfall. Enjoy an evening outside under the stars; there are no city lights here to obstruct your view
.

The house was great, my family really enjoyed the amenities like the pool, basement with all the games, movie room and multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. It was the perfect sized house for our family. It would have been nice to have more pool towels, we only had 8. Instructions on how to turn on the pool slide, and sauna.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this large house with many included features and activities (table tennis, billiards, hot tub, sauna, great TVs, etc.) The only downside of a house with so many features, is the amount of maintenance required to keep it all in top shape. The lower floors had a musty smell, some of the pool features didn’t work or stopped working 5 min. after they were fixed, the light bulbs color temperatures didn’t always match, and some parts of the house trim and deck need some repair. However, these are minor complaints that can be fixed by adding some dehumidifiers and doing end of season maintenance. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay.

The good - the house was clean upon our arrival and the kitchen quite functional. We enjoyed the fire-pit and the sauna. The bad - 1. The TV’s in two of the bedrooms did not work - one lacked a remote. 2. The ceiling lights were out in two of the bathrooms. 3. We had no hot water for three days until the maintenance man arrived on Tuesday afternoon to turn up the water heater. 4. The hot tub was unusable upon our arrival - the water was nasty and the heating element would not turn on. This was not addressed until the maintenance man came on Tuesday (we were told on Sunday that he would come on Monday, but he didn’t and a second call had to be made to the owner). 5. The pool - upon our arrival the water feed for the slide was not working and, again, was not fixed until the maintenance man came on Tuesday. By Thursday the water in the pool was becoming quite murky (? Algae), and, therefore, the pool was unusable for the last two days of our visit. The owner came on Thursday afternoon and put a robotic cleaner in the pool, however, it stopped working and had to be restarted by the maintenance man on Friday. 6. The pool table in the game room is nice, but there is only one usable cue stick; the tips are broken on all the rest. The foosball table sits broken in the garage. 7. The basketball backboard is broken. 8. The gas grill was not working fully. In summary, this is a property with lots of potential that falls far short of the mark due to neglected maintenance.

Basement had very musty odor. The upstairs appeared to have only one thermostat in the master bedroom. We were unable to adjust the temperature. It was just too cold. Pool is great, much to do with in 30-40 minute drive. Jack Frost Golf course excellent.

We had a great time. There were some things that could use updating or directions on how to use. There was plenty of room for everyone and we didn’t feel crowded (19 people). The biggest hit was the pool and water slide. We also enjoyed the fire pit and seeing deer and frogs.

Thank you for the use of this wonderful house! We were so excited to find a location that could accommodate 28 people. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes and spices, every bedroom had its own bathroom (score!), and there were lots of activities to stay busy (pool table, arcade games, ping pong, movie theater). The pool was a highlight of our week and we spent many days enjoying it as we were there in July. The pool was clean and well-stocked with toys. The movie theater was another highlight…what a great feature! The popcorn machine was missing, but when I informed Alex, he had one mailed within two days. I only interacted with Alex, but he was prompt with his responses to all questions and concerns we had. I am giving a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star rating because there were some things that came up that we didn’t want to have to think about while on vacation, like a couple of light bulbs not working, a bathtub faucet not working, the water dispenser not working on the refrigerator (although when I informed Alex of this, he sent over five cases of water and a case of ginger ale the next day), the hot tub needing to be re-filled twice during the week (even though we only used it twice), and the thermostat needing to be re-set one night.

This rental could be a 5 star vacation spot but there are key issues: hot tub does not work (one side doesn't work, water doesn't get hot), water slide in pool does not have working water feed, dryer has gas turned off that we turned on and off when using (we weren't told gas was turned off, not sure why it was). Oak room shower head needs replaced and main light in bathroom needs replaced. Front door knob needs replaced (had to keep door locked to keep it closed). There was a terrible smell in laundry room that we had to air out. The basketball game had no batteries (we replaced).

House was clean and huge. Plenty of space for all. Loved the individual rooms with private bathrooms, thermostats, fireplaces and tvs. Great community space, huge master, additional bedrooms. Loved the theater, game room and pool area. Some things that need attention or different that advertised: Outside hot tub had only half the jets working Pool slide not giving enough water No working house speakers, small radio in kitchen tho No popcorn machine in theater No laundry soap provided No remote for Maple room TV Maple room tub had no water when faucet was on? Oak/Maple light in bathroom need new bulbs Cherry tub button was stuck on and started running in middle of night Master tub control panel not working Main living area fireplace wouldn't turn on with the timer. These did not ruin our vacation but would have made it better if things like the tubs in particular were working. We did reach out about a few of the items on the first day and got some answers but it was just too much to keep messing about in the moment. Had an issue with grease from the stove leaking into the basement causing a slip hazard that was addressed that day. Cleaning crew were still working when we arrived even though it was after check in time. A bag of garbage was left by the front door when they left. The towels on the beds, while nice and thick were damp when we arrived. Need more towels and blankets for all beds *even futons if house can sleep 32.
