About this cottage rental

Our home away from home is a spacious, 1700 square foot, fully furnished get away in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan. We are located on scenic H-58 roughly halfway between Munising and Grand Marais, and are just minutes from the Pictured Rocks National lake shore where you will find numerous hiking trails, waterfalls, and Lake Superior beaches to explore. Additionally, we are less than a mile from a network of trail systems that allow you to go in all 4 directions. Whether you're a snowmobiler, or ride side by sides/ATV's, you have endless options for exploration right from home base, with plenty of parking available for large trailers.

If you want a break from the sight seeing, enjoy an afternoon or evening sitting lakeside at the house. We offer over 300 feet of frontage along the north side of Nevins Lake, that includes a sandy beach area/fishing dock. This 276-acre lake has no public access, allowing for a quiet and peaceful experience. It's not uncommon for a whole summer day to pass without seeing any motorized watercraft, which creates opportunities to observe wildlife such as loons, eagles, and beavers in their natural environment. Nevins Lake is great for fishing/swimming, or paddling/exploring, and provides a wonderful opportunity to escape and unwind. While there's no public access, small boats on trailers can be backed down to the water and launched from our beach area (A vehicle with 4-wheel drive is recommended). We provide 4 Kayaks, a canoe, a paddle boat, and a row boat that are included with your rental as well.
In the evening, unwind around a bon-fire (firewood included!). Roast brats or smores while listening to the beautiful calls of loons ushering in a night sky that only the remote UP can offer.

The cabin itself has all the amenities that allow for a comfortable/contemporary stay in a remote location. Ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends, it comfortably sleeps 4-6 adults. The house includes a fully stocked kitchen with all the items you’ll need to prepare and serve a home cooked meal. There is reliable high speed internet, as well as Satellite TV.

A short 25-minute drive West from Nevins Lake will bring you to the amazing town of Munising; the same distance in the opposite direction will bring you to Grand Marais. Nestled between these 2 towns along H-58 are dozens of points of interest, including Lake Superior beaches, hiking trails, and waterfalls.

Here are a few resources to help plan your itinerary-

Every season has countless unique and exciting experiences to be had.
Summertime is a given, and there are plenty of reasons why. However, the best kept secrets are in the "off months" when the crowds dissipate. Many consider September/October to be the best months to visit the UP. Fall colors are unrivaled in the Hiawatha national forest areas, and paint the landscape on the elevated shores of Nevins Lake.

We look forward to being your host and helping to make your UP experience great no matter the season!

*****IMPORTANT NOTE**** Due to the remote location, trash service is not provided and guests are asked to take their trash with them. Many renters choose to dispose smaller amounts on their day trips throughout the stay. Otherwise, there are 2 good options while heading home as well. Going West towards Munising, there is Wood Island Waste Management that accepts bagged trash. If you are heading East, Seney has a gas Station/convenience store called Maters Stop & Go. They charge a couple dollars a bag to dispose in their dumpster. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding.

We spent a week at this beautiful cabin in the most picturesque area we have ever stayed! Spacious, clean, and well appointed lodgings coupled with friendly, helpful, and easy to reach hosts made this property and vacation our favorite U.P. adventure yet. From the little touches-Lego sets and puzzles for all ages along with playground equipment outside, tthe well appointed kitchen and outdoor space, to the scenery of Neven's Lake, we were blown away for our entire stay. We loved this property and could not have had a better time. If the hosts would have us we would love to come back in the future! We are a group of novice fishermen. We had the best collective and individual fishing experiences of our lives from the dock of this incredible property. Book it, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Nick and Jill.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The property was perfect for myself, my husband, our 2 year old son and my parents. We brought our dogs as well, they were able to run around the yard and swim and be with us while we enjoyed the beautiful weather without being on display or “distracted” by neighbors or other dogs. We did have to reach out to the host for a propane refill, the tank was quite low and we brought a weeks worth of grilling food! The host was quick to respond and sent the cleaning staff over. We ended up asking the cleaning staff when they arrived for more toilet paper as only 2 rolls were left for 4 adults for a week (one being pregnant and using the restroom A LOT!). After she left we noticed there were no extra trash bags either. We ended up making a trip to town and purchased some. However, we felt the cleaning staff could have been a bit more attentive to refilling and prepping the cabin for our visit.

If you are looking for quiet, beautiful surroundings on a pretty little lake with a kayaks and patio an outdoor space to enjoy to U.P. -this is the place! The beds are comfortable. And lots of little extras you need when you are away from home. The only negative we found, was cleaning crew not very thorough, yes, it is a cabin in the UP , but a little attention to cleaning the countertops and floors, makes a big first impression. Otherwise, a sweet little place.
