7 Dogwood Lane is a stunning home and the perfect family retreat on Hilton Head Island. Beautiful lush landscaping leads you to the petticoat style stairs and a covered front porch with a large cushioned swing where you have views of the ocean. On the other side of the deck, that is not covered, there is an umbrella table that seats six.

As you enter the home you will immediately notice the hardwood floors that look almost like driftwood in color. The home tastefully decorated in whites, blues and grays making you feel relaxed and like you are at an ocean retreat. To the left of the entrance is a ½ bath then the office which has a blue leather couch and matching chair, desk by the window and a TV. The perfect, quiet location to catch up on some work or a homework station for the kids. To the right of the entrance is the living room complete with a white couch and two chairs, a high-top table with three stools and a 60” Samsung TV mounted over the fireplace. There are glass doors that open out to the front porch. The dining room has a table that seats six and a beverage center complete with a sink, wine fridge and ice maker. From here you enter the gourmet kitchen with a large granite topped island with three stools, stainless steel appliances including a Sub Zero refrigerator, a Wolf 6-burner gas stove and a large pantry.

From the dining room there is access to a screened-in porch with a ceiling fan and three seat sofa. Outside there is a small deck where the Weber gas grill is. On the other side are the stairs that lead you down to the pool deck. Here you will find the pool and spa, two lounge chairs and a gas fireplace with four chairs. Under the porch is a covered sitting area that has a bar with three stools, a couch and two chairs. Also you will find a 56” SunBrite TV, a high-top table with four chairs, a dart board and an enclosed outdoor shower. Inside the garage there is a corn hole game, ping-pong table and refrigerator.

Back inside on the first floor, behind the kitchen, is the master suite with a king bed, 55” Samsung TV with DVD player, a palm frond ceiling fan and access to a private screened-in porch where there is a sofa and two chairs. Behind the sliding rustic barn door is the private bathroom with double vanities, a soaking tub and a large walk-in shower with double showerheads.

The remaining four bedrooms and the laundry room are on the second floor. To the right of the stairs at the end of the hall is the large laundry room with a sink and full size washer and dryer. Next is a bedroom with a king bed, blue leather accent chair and 50” Samsung TV. Glass doors open to a covered deck with a rocking chair. You can see glimpses of the ocean from here. A great place to have your morning coffee! The ensuite bath has a copper claw foot tub, walk-in shower and two separate vanities with copper sink bowls. There is also a very large walk-in closet. The next bedroom has a queen size bed and a desk and shares a bathroom with the kid’s room next door. The kid’s room is decorated in navy blue and yellow and has porthole windows just like a ship. There is a twin bunk bed and a full size bed, a desk and small TV. The shared bathroom has a double vanity and a walk-in shower.

The last room on this floor has a queen bed, bench seat, TV and access to a small lookout deck. The private bath has a single vanity and a walk-in shower.

This home is gorgeous inside and out, has many amenities to keep you entertained and is only steps away from the beach and shopping. This property will not disappoint!

This is a really nice property, but it’s got problems and I don’t feel it should have been offered in its current state. We’ve been staying in South Beach - mostly Sea Pines - for the last several years and this one was well, an expensive “bummer.” First, the pool/spa was a disaster. We selected this particular rental for its hot tub and paid an additional charge for pool heat. When we arrived Sunday night, the controller was dead, meaning there’s no way to turn the hot tub or pool lights on. We had driven several hours and wanted to enjoy our >$1k/night rental’s advertised pool and hot tub but weren’t able. We spoke with the property manager Monday morning, and didn’t hear back all day until I called a second time. Now we’re 2 days in with no hot tub, no pool lights (none for entire pool area), and at this point the pool water we paid to heat started dropping in temp. That afternoon, I got a call from PM asking me for an update from the pool company. I didn’t know I was going to be responsible for interacting with pool contractors and giving updates back to the the PM. Not good. Wednesday, I have to call the property manager again and now I’m upset. I’ve got a house full of people, a cold pool my kids won’t get into, and a hot tub that has yet to work. A pool technician arrived and told us the controller had been installed incorrectly. I couldn’t believe it. Had the PM not checked to at least see that it had power?! How could that happen? We had pool heat and a working hot tub for one night: Wednesday. On Thursday the pool temp began dropping again and the hot tub couldn’t get above 97 degrees (my 2-year old gets 101 degree bath water). We checked out Friday morning and went home. The property manager, and the property itself, just weren’t ready. There were other signs like someone dropping off a propane tank for our hardpiped gas grill, a handwritten note in a closet full of half-installed electronics to leave the door open (with a 2 and 4 year old?!), a mysterious iPad mounted to the living room wall, dishwashing tablets provided for a dishwasher that doesn’t accept them, and more. Here’s what we liked: the elevator (great for my elderly mother), front porch swing, location (short walk to beach), crushed ice maker (little things matter!), and aside from a few minor gripes, the house itself is very nice with some luxury touches particularly in the master bathrooms.
