About this house rental
Located right on Main Street in downtown Bryson City, the Hazel House was originally built in 1902 has been fully brought up to date with all modern comforts. Guests can sit on the porch and enjoy the view as well as walk to restaurants and shops and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. The entire restoration is featured in a series by the Perkins Builder Brothers.
The Hazel House was originally built in 1902 has been fully brought up to date with all modern comforts. The Hazel House has two bedrooms each with a king size bed and private bathroom. The living room area is an open floor plan and the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. We’ve stocked the Hazel House with board games and tried to think of every detail that will make your stay perfect. The loft has been transformed into a cozy reading area and workspace. In November and December, the house is fully decked out for Christmas and the Polar Express.
Every aspect of the Hazel House has a story behind it. Fully restored from its days when Bud and Hazel Jacks lived on Main Street and ran their jewelry store next door. There was once a door that connected the two. Reclaimed materials and eco-friendly products have been used throughout. All artifacts found on the property during excavation have been saved and displayed. We love the history of this home and its unique location right in the heart of town. There are two dedicated parking spaces located right behind the house so there is no need to find public parking downtown and in the winter there are no treacherous inclines to tackle. The parking area is well lit and very safe.
From the Hazel House you can walk right across the street to restaurant favorites like Jimmy Macs, Pasqualino’s, Everett Hotel Bistro or pick up food from the food truck and eat at the Bryson City Outdoors Taproom. You can walk to the nearby seasonal Friday farmers’ market for fresh produce from our local farmers, honey from our local beekeepers and crafts from local artisans. Walk along the river and put your feet in the cool water at nearby Island Park. Hop in the car and drive just 3 miles to the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
There is one small IGA grocery store within walking distance and a larger Ingles a few minutes away. We know you'll feel right at home. If you need something extra let us know!

This was our favorite vacation rental we’ve ever had, anywhere. The cute style, spotlessness, great location, comfort (including good mattresses!), amenities & thoughtful touches (umbrellas, games/toys, local coffee, diffuser of nice scents when we arrived) were perfect. Cannot say enough good things about this property & the nose! Can’t wait to go back next summer and will book early enough to make sure we get it.

The property was perfect. Two couples away for a mid week break. Loved the location of the house, right in downtown. The two king bed en suite bedrooms were extremely comfortable. The kitchen well equipped and plenty of relaxation space in the living room. The entry and exit instructions were clear and not onorous at all. It was a beautiful space and we enjoyed every minute.

Bryson City is the real deal if you are looking for a true western NC mountain experience. We rented the property for our residence during our daughters wedding. Perfect location, beautiful home, good food and wonderful people. My wife and I are VRBO owners and appreciate the work and effort the owners have put into the Hazel House. Hope to return next year.

This property should be 10/10! The Hazel House is gorgeous, all the owners touches are fabulous. Beds were super comfy. Great internet and YouTube TV. You have your own slice of heaven on Main Street with a fabulous bakery a couple doors down, BCO Brewery with a food truck for lunch or afternoon snack and tons of unique shops all within walking distance. You will not be disappointed - we loved it!

All I can say is there is no other place we would recommend to stay other than here. Very clean and updated. Ashley was the best. We were able to interact with her and she was most helpful in many ways. From reserving to leaving was easy and smooth. Thank you Ashley, you’ve done an amazing job on this place.

This charming home is located in the heart of BC. The recently updated home is modern and very comfortable. Ashley the host, is responsive and an excellent source of local information. Don't miss BC Outdoors for craft beer, food truck, and outdoor gear. Highly recommended.

The Hazel House is beautiful!! Perfectly clean and great location! We could have stayed all day long and watched the cars pull in and out of the parking space across the street. (The restaurant and Hardware store are across the street.) We felt like we were in “Bedford Falls” in “It’s A Wonderful Life.”
The owner, Ashley, is beyond talented to create such a magical place! Her art store is next door, and you’ll find all kinds of treasures there. We took our 4 year old granddaughter to Santaland in Cherokee. Bryson City is a short drive there.
The Hazel House is sooooo much fun! The loft and staircase are cool! The beds are extremely comfortable. Everything is great! We’d give 10 stars if we could!

Great place to stay, very clean and well furnished. It has two bedrooms (each with en suite bath) and one loft. Not technically three full bedrooms.
Very hard to beat the location and charm of the house.

We came to Bryson City to celebrate my Mother-In-Law’s 90th birthday, with a train ride to the Nantahala Outdoor Center. The Historic Hazel House was the perfect home for my Brother-In-Law to stay in during our family gathering on the Great Smokey Mountain Railway. The home was very neat, clean, decor was perfect & just a short walk from the train depot. He absolutely loved the home, with all its unique history. He loved the home so much, that he made sure that we all had a chance to walk through & see it’s charm & beauty. We did make the mistake of assuming that all 4 parking spots were available for us to use while riding the train. Which, initially, we parked in 3 spots, upon getting a text explaining that only 2 parking spaces were available for our use, we immediately moved 1 vehicle, leaving 2 there during our ride. For that over site we apologize. Thank you all for everything.

A wonderful place for two couples to catch up and then go explore the area. It was so nice to know that you come back to a beautifully decorated, clean fresh and comfortable home after a long, fun day.

This awesome home was right in the heart of town. Main street! We loved everything about it and will come back again! The fact the owner cred enough to restore and save this historical property is an added bonus!!!!

There is really nothing else I can add to all of the wonderful reviews. This is probably our new number one favorite place to stay. Everything was absolutely perfect. We are clean freaks and this was hands-down the cleanest property we have ever stayed at. Thank you for letting us love your place for a few days.

We truly enjoyed our visit to the Hazel House. The property is centrally located, warm, and inviting. Before staying there I didn’t know that the owners had so lovingly created the space. You could really feel how much care and innovation had gone into each choice for the space. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms are well stocked.
My husband worked in the loft space during our trip and the internet worked great for him, even for online meetings. We enjoyed rocking on the front porch, walking to stores and restaurants, and having a comfortable place to return to each evening.
We really liked The Rice Wagon for lunch and highly, HIGHLY recommend Bryson Bakery, just a few doors down. If you happen to visit on a weekend then I also recommend checking out 120 Main St next door. They have many beautiful pieces of art, jewelry, and fun knick knacks—not the same old tchotchkes that are peddled everywhere else.
This trip was truly a gift.

Great stay. We have been to Bryson City many times and the Hazel House made this stay the best one yet! You can walk anywhere downtown, you have a view of the mountains and can sit on the front porch watching the mountains and people walk by. The attention to detail in this house was incredible as well as the history. It was clean, roomy, and just awesome! We will be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Hazel House. The host was accessible, friendly, and helpful with all questions we had. The home is absolutely breathtaking! The historical pieces featured in the home are lovely. We appreciated the thoughtful details such as umbrellas by the door, coffee in the kitchen, and the beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The Hazel House is a fantastic property! My family absolutely loved staying there. The house was warm and welcoming and in a great location. We were in BC for the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad Polar Express ride and wish we could have stayed longer. The property was very clean and the host, Ashley, had the home beautifully decorated. If we make to BC again, the Hazel House will be our first choice.
