The property was good enough, but not a 5-star experience. The construction of the property is janky -- the neighborhood was originally a temporary development (know this because we know a repairman that is called in often to fix things in the neighborhood) that was supposed to be torn-down and rebuilt. The developers often grabbed surfers and paid them cash -- not exactly skilled labor. It shows. Light fixtures at odd heights, light switches across and around corners for the plugs. Just weird. The kitchen drawers are also nonsensically organized. The place-ware in the furthest possible drawer from the dishes. There was a broken lamp and a spider in the trash. It obviously hadn't been freshly cleaned, but had sat awhile between cleaning and new guests. In fact, the property owner sent us a picture of a lost shoe -- thinking it was ours (not ours) probably under a bed. The twin bed, I had to rotate the mattress, it was so lumpy and the sheets for the twin were rough and scratchy. The king was okay but also not a great mattress. Most things easily upgraded. The PM -- very responsive and gave us a free bottle of wine and glasses; except, it wasn't until a week before our arrival that they requested our car info (because it's a gated community) and we have a van. If it had a sleeper-set-up, we would have not been able to park in the neighborhood, we have our seats installed not a van-clan, but I guess maybe they'd have left it in the guest parking and we would've had to walk in (not sure) -- but this could have really derailed our deposit and reservations as it was Thanksgiving week. So, READ THE AGREEMENT AHEAD OF TIME! This should have been handled at the forefront. So, yeah, good enough but not great.

This property is a lovely rental. It was perfect for the 5 of us. The beach is only a short walk away and we spent many evenings enjoying the sunset on the cliff tops. We didn’t find the accommodation too noisy despite the previous reviews. The neighbours said hello and welcomed us for the week. It seems a very safe gated community. We drove into San Diego, La Jolla and to the beach in Encinitas (5min drive) as the beach by the apartment is too stony. We also drove up to Carlsbad to revisit a restaurant we have previously enjoyed. The pool was lovely, we swam every day. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, utilises etc. it was clearly a family home at some point. Would use this property again.

Stayed a month. Worked the first two weeks, and relaxed the next two. Location is amazing. Great for families. Jodi is awesome and super friendly/helpful. I had lots video calls in the first two weeks while working. For the most part it was fine, but had to reboot router a couple times and keep others off streaming to get quality calls. Would definitely stay here again.

Very Disappointed. No beach, noisy, and rundown.
Very Disappointed. No beach, noisy, and rundown.
The property description and photos were completely misleading. There is no beach, the water comes almost completely up to the stairs, even during low tide. The main floor/master deck faces the highway, the train and the tennis/pickle ball courts. The noise was continuous from early morning until late at night. We literally couldn’t open the windows or sliding doors. The location of the property was never disclosed in the description nor was it circled on the aerial photos. The home was completely unprepared and rundown. The AC was left off (82 degrees), there were stains on the master sheets, used rolls of toilet paper, garbage cans were full, previous guests food were left in pantry/fridge/counters, coffee pot was unusable, dirty towels left out, light bulbs missing, broken blinds in multiple rooms, broken toilet seats, fridge/freezer light broken, a note warning brakes on bikes “need work”, rusted out front and back patio chairs, and inconsistent wifi. We immediately called the owner’s agent, who was “on vacation”, and had been unable to inspect the property before we arrived. She admitted there was a new housekeeper, apologized for the mess and tried to downplay our concerns by reimbursing us with her commission. She became very defensive, condescending and dismissive about the location of the property and lack of beach. The agent removed the word “quiet” from the description (I have this in a text) and offered no additional solutions. We have photos, video and audio, but VRBO does not have an option to attach these items to our review. This was our one family vacation and it was ruined. Do not trust the description and photos on this property.

Amazing stay at perfect location
We loved every minute of our stay. Super clean, comfortable, spacious and had all of the amenities we needed for our family of four. The location is so ideal with beach and pool access without having to drive anywhere. We look forward to returning next year!
