About this apartment rental
The Casselman River Loft is located in the town of Confluence nestled in the Laurel Highlands Mountains. The Loft is on the 2nd floor of the former Confluence High School building. The Loft is located near the center of the town along the Casselman River and just off the GAP bike trail.
The loft is entirely private but the rest of the building is occupied by Immersion Research, an outdoor gear company. Operations include sewing, light manufacturing, shipping, warehousing, offices, and a retail shop.
The Loft is brand new (finished early 2022) has huge windows, modern decor and is very spacious. Along with the river view, you can also see the old railroad bridge that now hosts the GAP bike trail. The trail access is a minute or two out the door.
The loft can accommodate up to 8 people. There are 2 bedrooms. One bedroom with a king size bed with full ensuite bathroom. The other bedroom has 2 queen beds and a full bath right outside the door. There is a comfortable queen size futon in the main living area.
The loft has an open floor plan in the kitchen/living/dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you'll need. There is a smart TV and high speed, wireless internet. Verizon/Sprint/AT&T cell phones work well from the house. The house has central A/C. All linens and towels are provided. With 4 distinct seasons, the Loft is available year round.
Make a day swimming and boating at the Yough Lake just around the corner. Take a break from your ride through from DC to Pittsburgh on the bike trail or spend the day biking shorter routes in either direction. Kayak or pick up a raft trip in nearby Ohiopyle. Make this the perfect retreat for trips to the 2 Frank Lloyd Wright homes: Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. We are centrally located to the ski resorts (Wisp, Seven Springs & Hidden Valley).
Whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a family planning the ultimate recreational vacation or old friends looking for a quiet retreat our home is the perfect setting. Come back year after year and explore the wonders of the Laurel Highlands.

We've never stayed in a more unique and accommodating place while riding the GAP trail. The Casselman River Loft is also a perfect spot to use as a base of operations if you want to visit the various Frank Lloyd Wright homes, covered bridges, or nature-related sites in the area. Although it was just two of us, it would also be good for a family or multiple couples to share as it has everything you need to stay in or venture out. The town of Confluence is just big enough without being too big and has about anything you might require.

This property is amazing! The best VRBO I have stayed at. The loft is spacious, very clean, and the location and view of the river makes it the perfect place. It is furnished head to toe with everything you could need while traveling. The modern decor and coziness of the place tops it off to make for a wonderful stay.

Our "staycation" in Confluence at the Casselman River loft was exceptional. Kara has done a fantastic job with the restoration of the old Confluence High School into a modern and comfortable 2nd story loft apartment. The living and dining area is expansive with a wall of windows to overlook the Casselman river and surrounding hillsides. The kitchen is very well appointed and set up for success for cooking any meal. The beds were clean and comfortable as was the entire suite. The initial reaction upon entry was just how tidy and organized the unit was. Excellent place to stay that is not too far from Pittsburgh for a weekend getaway. Some local highlights included riding the GAP trail to Rockwood and the Trail Head Brewery, Dinners at the Rivers edge Cafe, Kayaking with Andy and friends at Riversport, lunch and cold beverages at the Lucky Dog, and a round of golf at The Club at Middle Creek. There are also some great new places in town like, the Shine Shack, Tissue Farm, and The Park Square Market. We are looking forward to a return visit later this summer.

This is our 3rd year and 4th time renting Casselman River Loft. We biked to Ohiopyle one day and drove to Deep Creek the second day to walk around the lake and hike in the Swallow Falls State Park.
Accommodations were spotless, everything thought-out to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

We stayed at the Loft and would rate it five stars. The loft if perfectly located in confluence and we couldn’t ask for more. We rode the trial to Ohiopyle and had a great day sitting by the river. The whole process was super smooth and Kara was so helpful. We will recommend the loft to others and would stay again if visiting Confluence.

We found the Loft to be much nicer than expected. It's extremely clean, well maintained and has everything that could have been needed. The coffee was a bonus. We hope to be able to stay there again when we return to the Confluence area.

A lovely weekend getaway! Confluence is such a charming little town and close to many outdoor recreational areas. The space is huge, very clean, well appointed and just a neat place to stay! Highly recommend!

My spouse & I, brother and sister—in-law enjoyed biking and hiking in the area end of September with leaves starting to turn. Visited Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. Well-equipped kitchen with sharp knives and good cutting board and lots of counter space. Very clean and spacious rooms. The coffee nerds in our group loved the Ohiopyle coffee beans and the Cuisinart coffee maker with the rainforest drip. Streamed movies in the evening. Good Wifi.

Great place to stay . Three of us stayed on a GAP bike ride. Close to trail and excellent loft. You don’t expect it from the out side. It is part of an old High School. Great views of the river.

We stayed at the Loft over the 2023 Labor Day weekend and we had a great visit. First off the communication with the owner was fast, easy, and spot on. The Loft was exactly as described and the pictures don’t do it justice. It was much larger than expected and very open. The rental was well equipped and had everything we needed for an enjoyable vacation. The location couldn’t have been better. It was just across the bridge from the bike trail with easy access to the Yough river. We were fortunate enough to see three Eagles on our visit with one flying up the Casselman river right behind the loft. We would definitely recommend the Loft to our friends and we will hopefully get to return ourselves. Thanks for a great trip!

Our family spent two relaxing nights at the loft - which is spacious, clean, well-appointed and decorated so nicely. 20-25 minute drive to Ohiopyle for rafting. We recommend and world return!

Confluence is a nice small town with several great places to eat (Lucky Dog Cafe, River's Edge Cafe), a small supermarket/grocery store, easy access to the scenic GAP bike trail and a short drive to Deep Creek Lake, Fallingwater and Ohiopyle.

What a great weekend away. We had wonderful weather, but enjoyed our time inside as much as we did out - as the space was incredibly comfortable. Also, the loft is equipped with all of the essentials.

Kids described loft as very luxurious. Great river view and lots of space. Great lighting and air conditioning, crazy to think that it used to be an old chool house. Very convenient location for a variety of outdoor adventures. Highly recommend a stay here.

This is a nicely appointed space with extra large chef's kitchen and common areas. The bedrooms were very large and the bathrooms updated with walk in showers. You do need to be able to handle stairs to reach the unit. Great place to hang out next to the river with close access to the GAP rail trail and rafting adventures on the Yough.

The location worked out perfectly for us because we didn’t want to be in the middle of everything at Ohio Pyle. The nearby restaurants were great. The space was clean and had everything we needed.

Kara has done an amazing job with this funky space in Confluence! We were unknowingly visiting just before the tourist season, which seems to start May 1, and therefore did not have many options for food and drink in town. Good thing the kitchen is equipped and the grocery store good, because we were able to cook breakfasts and one dinner ourselves.
We did have a great time visiting the Wright houses, Fort Necessity (we love NPS sites), and doing some cool hikes near Ohiopyle. We hope to return sometime when more things are open to do some rafting and biking on the GAP. We will definitely stay in one of Kara's rentals when we do! Hopefully the Lucky Dog will be open next time!

What a great find! Absolutely loved the place! The space and decor was beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms were perfect and the kitchen was amazing. Plenty of space for the four of us to cook and hang out. We would definitely come back and recommend this rental to friends and family!

This loft was spacious, beautiful, and clean! The kitchen was big and we enjoyed cooking family meals. My husband and I stayed here with our two kids and his brother/girlfriend. Hosts were very communicative and kind. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed for the weekend with family and friends and we’re blown away with our experience at the loft! Loved how spacious it was, never felt crowded, and how clean the loft was. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Such a beautiful view also! Overall, great stay, will definitely be back.

This loft will satisfy all of your needs and some. The views are amazing, hiking, biking, kayaking (if the river is deep enough) and plenty of space to satisfy all your needs. The only downfall is that you have to carry all your stuff up many steps (but it is a loft). The owners are very kind and helpful if you need anything while your there. Check out the Lucky Dog restaurant across the bridge for some yummy meals (It's seasonal so I don't think it is open in the winter).

Casselman River Loft is beautiful, clean, and modern
Great property. Beautiful, clean, modern. Great view of the river. Only 15 minutes from Ohiopyle State Park and 2 minutes from the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. The loft is on the second floor of an office building that isn't terribly interesting to look at, but once you're in the loft itself all you can see is the river.

Perfect
Me, my husband and two boys 7 and 9 stayed at this property for 3 nights. We also had my sister visit. She has two five year Olds. This place is super spacious. Big windows, tall ceilings, lots of room to spread out. All the furniture was clean and comfy. TV had all the channels you.could want. We have a pontoon boat. It was nice that they had parking for the boat and cars. Lots of space. We will be returning in the future.

Modern condo in a great location with all amenities
Casselman River Loft was amazing! Everything is brand new, beautiful and clean. You can tell that a lot of thought was put into designing and furnishing the apartment.
It's overlooking the Casselman river and very close (short walking distance) to the GAP biking trail, Confluence Cyclery, River Edge Cafe, Lucky Dog Cafe, and Confluence Foodmart.

Long weekend with old friends
Casselman River Loft exceeded expectations in every way! Beautiful loft with spacious interior, providing plenty of room to relax and hang out with friends for a long weekend. Nice big kitchen with all modern appliances, and a grocery store in walking distance. It was really nice to have a washer and dryer for cleaning up after adventuring on the local trails and rivers. Rooms were nice and big and super clean! Beautiful views of the Casselman river from the dining room and living room. Perfect location for exploring the Laurel Highlands. Restaurants also in walking distance. Would definitely stay again!!

Surprisingly spacious loft near Fallingwater
Everything was as advertised but I was happily surprised that it was even larger than I expected! Beds were comfortable with ample thoughtful touches such as soft blankets and sharp knives and a coffee grinder in the kitchen. There was nothing the host didn’t think of when stocking and outfitting this place. The river behind the property was beautiful even in early spring and it was well located for our visit to Fallingwater.
