About this house rental

For a few weeks each summer, we offer our beautifully designed home to people who are looking for a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature and the ocean. The house is full of light and windows overlooking the upper harbor of South Freeport Maine, where you can watch the boats at anchor or the many ducks and wading birds along the shoreline. It manages to incorporate an open feel, with vaulted ceilings, with small and cozy spaces for conversation or reading. It has four bedrooms and four baths, including two suites, all with heated tile floors. Gather around the gas fireplace for drinks or a book. Or sit and watch the world outside from the comfy chairs by the windows, or from the granite island's high chairs. Just 2 miles from L.L. Bean and downtown Freeport, but a world apart from the crowds. 15 minutes from Portland or Brunswick. Extraordinary morning views to the east, across the harbor. Enjoy the slower pace of Maine this Christmas season with your family or friends. Our house is available for only five weeks each summer, and two weeks at Christmas time, so don't delay. The house is more beautiful and more spacious than the photos show. The deck and the view are spectacular. 4 enormous full baths made it ideal for our extended family. The location gives easy access to shops, hiking and not a long ride to beaches. We loved it. Thank you

The house is lovely, with a terrific view of the water (the Harraseeket River). Its just a short drive into Freeport. It's also fully air conditioned, which was a plus given the heat in the east, including Maine, while we were there.

This house was even better than the pictures. But as I said to my husband, the photos certainly give you an excellent feel for the home. The view was tremendous, location so quiet yet easy access to everything. The layout was perfect for our group of adults. Kitchen was extremely well stocked and all modern conveniences. The split air conditioning was wonderful so everyone could choose what temp they wanted. My husband and I took the top floor primary suite with its gorgeous view and great layout with master bath with heated floors! Other two levels offered plenty of room and privacy for the single guest from Boston and two friends from New York City. We are allaccustomed to our own spaces so we really were able to spread out. But the 4 chairs in the window off the dining area is where we gathered to read, knit, and enjoy views. THe only things we would have enjoyed was maybe a little more lounging furniture on the very large deck and some form of shade as we had a hard time sitting outside during the day due to the lack of shade and the strong sun. (there was a umbrella but it was unstable and ended up not really working...no fault of the owner at all...things happen when exposed to the elements). There was a lovely treat filled basked and a patriotic bouquet on our arrival too! Really an amazing home and we will definitely rent again if the home is available next spring or summer. The owners have built a beautiful home and terrace. The open kitchen was perfect for our family and we loved the constant view of the water. Alan was incredibly responsive and caring -- I can't say enough great things about this home!

Our stay was extra special in this lovely home with peaceful ocean views. Our hosts were so helpful and full of information. The house is beautifully decorated with comfortable seating throughout-expansive enough for family togetherness and also privacy. Lots of great reading, and plenty of space with a well stocked kitchen for cooking. Our morning coffee was special as we watched the sun rise over the ocean.

This house is amazing. My family and I stayed here over the winter holidays and we just fell in love with it. The house is equipped with everything you could need, the views are amazing, the house is decorated in such a tasteful and warm manner and the kitchen is great fun (for those that like to cook - the kitchen is amazing). Good communication with hosts (any communication snafu's were on my end), great location - very close to Freeport and just a short drive to Portland. It was hard to leave this house when we checked out. We would love to stay here again on a future trip to Maine.
