Beautiful hotel but not worth the price

Excellent location. The hotel is very pretty and it has a pool and A/C. Breakfast was okay. The staff were kind and attentive.

We found the room small and dark. We had a bunk bed in addition to the double bed we had no use for. We had to use a shared bathroom, which could have been advertised in a clearer way.

Great location and cool setting

Great location. Lovely setting with lots of private areas to relax in. Cute house right on the front.

Room was a bit shabby. Broken light bulbs. Previous occupants lollypop and stick stuck to the ac remote. In 5 nihhts we had one room clean.

A peaceful night’s sleep🙂

We only stayed for one night while we sorted out some logistics for our extended stay in San Juan del Sur. It is a very basic, but charming, old house that was quiet for sleeping, and in a very easy location for arrival in SJDS. The staff were pleasant and the included breakfast was good. The air conditioner worked well.

The room was very tiny, and we were a little worried about it’s location at first: under the kitchen, beside the washer and dryer on one side, a common area in front, and the pool on the other side, as the walls are simple planks….but our sleep was quiet and comfortable.

Overpriced stay but in good location

Lack of cleaning of room, price was expensive for a basic room, lack of any real engagement from staff. Felt like we were an inconvenience when we needed information.

Das Haus ist im Kolonialstil erbaut. Nähe der Strandpromenade, Parken im Hof. Das Zimmer war relativ klein, doch die Betten sind sehr bequem.

Die Zimmer im Erdgeschoss benötigen dringend einer Renovierung. Im Bad gibt es an der Decke mehrere Schimmelflecken. Das Frühstück gibt es erst ab 8.00 Uhr, entweder typisch nicaraguanisch oder Pfannkuchen. Die Zubereitung dauert fast 30 Minuten. Es gibt nur eine Tasse Kaffee und für nicht Tee - bzw. Kaffeetrinker gibt es nur Saft, den man bezahlen muss. Zimmerservice ( tägliches Putzen und Zimmerreinigung) findet nicht statt. Der Pool war nicht sehr ansprechend, da das Wasser ziemlich schmutzig aussah. Die Lichtschalter hätten auch eine Reinigung verdient. Alles in allem müsste etwas mehr repariert und verschönert werden

Excelente ubicación y relación calidad / precio.

Excelente la ubicación. A 100 metros de la playa y la zona de fiesta. El desayuno riquísimo y el personal muy amable.

Great location, good breakfast

Location was perfect and there was parking on the premisis. Very nice and helpful people working, we got an early breakfast (a good one) since we had to take off.

Ground level rooms have very strong mold smell. Pool was tiny and looked dirty, so we did not use it.

Comfortable old wooden seaside vibes

Charming, wooden sea-shack vibes with high ceilings shaded balconies, rocking chairs & hammocks. San Juan is small, so everywhere is walkable. Our room (#10) on the first floor was bright & quiet.

Kitchen ran out of filtered water, which was not replaced. Didn't use the pool as it didn't look so appealing up close. Price advertised didn't include taxes, which bumps up the cost but this seems normal for Nicaragua and I was aware this would be the case in advance.

Close to everything

We had breakfast included, but my son didn’t get anything to drink and we stayed there for a week. It was only coffee as a option, and I had to pay even more for a glass of juice for him. The children from the staff started to play; run and scream, already at 6-7 am. So the stay felt overpriced

Not so great

Stuff are not friendly. The room locations and price were not what I spect. There were a lot of bugs and they were bugging us. Stuff were rude and unfriendly

Charming escape

I loved the comfort and charm of the old home. I especially loved all the different places to be able to sit and hang out to enjoy the soft breeze, read, sip a cup of coffee, etc

The pool was not clean. My friend was so looking forward to it and she didn’t even want to get in

Really great!

Super great location in town, close to the main drag and the beach. The staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was delicious! It was a super cute place to stay and we loved swinging on the hammock on the front porch, watching people walking by! Would absolutely recommend :)

The water in the pool was a bit murky, so we didn’t use it all that much. Other than that - all was great! Oh and not a problem for us, but it’s a quiet hotel for some reason.. we didn’t see many other guests around so maybe not ideal for solo travellers.

Charming house and good location

Beautiful house with lovely front porch and nice pool area. It's also only a block from the beach and close to most restaurants. Staff was very good especially the chef who seemed to do everything (i.e., check in, cleaning, cooking, etc.).

The house is beautiful but could use some TLC especially the bathroom attached to my room. Noisy one night due to neighboring club.

Good location, but needs improvement.

The location was good. Close to the beach. The people working there were very lovely.

There was a scent of sewer on the lower level at the back. Quite strong. I think perhaps therebis a septic issue. The beds were very uncomfortable. The mattresses seemed old and lop-sided. The pool needed to be cleaned. It was quite dirty.

breakfast was good and staff friendly, also location right on the middle of town

rooms are very small and walls thin and feel like not existent. only one bathroom for whole ground floor which was very dirty in the evenings (people were washing their dogs in their etc), much too expensive for what the hotel offers

perfect property for staying in a lovely town and we would stayed longer if possible

Really helpful and friendly staff. The property offers a lit of space and is really cream with a lot of cozy hammocks.

Breakfast was good…a choice between Nica breakfast or pancakes,..other options available $$ Staff is very pleasant …this was our second stay there…very close to the beach and restaurants, but still pretty quiet…

Cozy and comfortable

Located a few steps from the beach and the center of San Juan del sur there’s plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. It’s a 2 min walk from Casa Oro where shuttles to the beaches can be caught (we went to Madaras$5/Hermosa $10) Room was basic with hot water, and plenty electricity plugs for all 5 people in the room. The house has many great sitting/ lounging areas throughout, a few games, and a choice of typical or pancake breakfast with bottomless coffee. The staff are very friendly and the overall space and location felt safe and cozy which was a perfect start to our family trip.

like any house, except some noise as people start to roam about and move abouts

Perfect location and accommodations.

Highly recommended! Great deal for your money. Perfect location. Steps to the beach, shopping and restaurants yet far enough away from the night life to get a good sleep. Bed and bedding was perfect. Best night's sleep in a very long time. Nice pool and garden area. Very quiet house to stay in. Very safe and clean. Great water pressure in the shower.

Such a great place, I hate to complain. The coffee was cold and gritty but there is a really good coffee shop right across the road. It would be really nice to have a fridge and microwave to use, even if communal. Some of the walking surfaces were a little dodgy but I think everywhere San Jan del Sur is like that.

The location is perfect, very close to the beach and the busy area of SJDS. The lady who manages the check in, and the one that prepared the breakfast for us was really nice

The noise, paper thin walls. Somehow was expected based on the previous reviews.

Passable

-They show pictures of the breakfast, namely the yogurt with granola and they say it is not included in the breakfast and you have to pay adicionally - a huge noise during the night (because our room was downstairs which is a commun area) - huge noise when people from the upstairs floor wake up - huge price for the quality you receive - in the second day they didn't do the cleaning because they didn't find the master key and they didn't ask ours

Wholesome Beach Stay!

The location of the house is perfect! It was a very wholesome stay for us which was exactly what we were looking for, more family vibe. Also there were HOT showers!!! The breakfast was delicious.

Good Value close to the beach

Love how close we were to the beach. Only 1/2 block away. Nice breakfast included. Room was pretty clean. Common area cute with couches and hammocks. Felt very safe.

The pros and cons of Looking Good

The AC worked great. Good hot shower. Good breakfast included in room fee. Excellent location. Staff were nice people. Vehicle parking inside the property. Very nice swimming pool.

The room is tiny, particularly when it has a bunkbed and twinbed in it. The room has no windows and the ceiling is pretty low. No TV. But who goes to San Juan del Sur to watch tv in a bright, spacious room? It's for beach life and the room, albeit a triple mini-room, is for sleeping and cleaning up.
