We follow the policy of the house. But the old woman next door is a Karen. She acts like she own the place. Taking pictures of our cars even tho we are allowed to park at the drive way. We have to go through the garage per request by the property manager. But we have to go out in the side so that we can have access to the beach. The old woman was taking pictures and video of us! Very creepy!

I will start by saying this, because I am reasonable and see both sides of the argument. Also, likely what the host will state (which is true), he was more than accommodating for me. This was a day for my proposal, granted many things were out of his control but it does not excuse lying. Before the check in, the host let me visit the property, which I was very grateful for. He also had multiple phone calls with me to discuss any questions I had. I was really impressed by the host during the initial booking process. The day off was where things went sideways. I was told at 10 a.m., 6 hours prior to check in that the electricity went out at the home, it was the only home on the block and Edison crews were working on it since the morning after multiple calls were made to them. I doubt Edison had workers out in the middle of a rainstorm but thats a different story. Upon being told this, I searched the address on So Cal Edison’s site, and no outage was reported. I can assure you, as a person who lives in a home serviced by SoCal Edison, the minute you call them, an outage sign goes up on their website. During this time, the host offered a cancellation as the only solution which would not have worked on such a big day where so much money was spent. I found a workaround and even asked the host if we can check in one hour earlier than regular check in time to have some of the natural daylight instead of the night sky. After the proposal, we noticed that it was very cold in the home. Upon looking for a thermostat, I could not locate one so I contacted the host. Host told me to go upstairs and look in the cubby, where all I saw were wires sticking out of the wall. When I informed him, he stated that there should be another plastic piece and to put it back on the wall because it was “weird” that it was off the wall. I did so, and it said the house was at 57 degrees, so I told the host I will put it on 81 degrees and check when we get back home from dinner. We returned home around 10 p.m. and it was still freezing in the home, still at 57 degrees. I notified the host who stated “hmm, unless the gas was turned off by someone. I had a handyman there today to look into the electric outage, let me ask him.”Also said the handyman did not turn it off and he doesnt know who he can get out at that time. We decided to layer up and freeze under the blankets. Also,Leaking walls, cold shower and no working stove. All I got back was 100 dol. Charac lim wont let me say mo

Safety concerns were noticed immediately & communicated to the host whom provided his personal contact information. In hindsight, red flag #1, a common scam is a request for you to communicate offsite. - Electrical, Plumbing, Foundation concerns; 1 room generated an electrical spark upon plugging in electrical devices, another room had its GFCI out of the junction box, a guest bathroom hot water wasn’t working & sink/shower wasn’t draining, large gauges & cracks on the tile floor that could cut bare feet. We were short a sink & shower for the 5 guest that now needed to cram into 2 bathrooms. The electrical panel & main light fixture above the dining table where we needed to work & eat as a group did not work for us the 2 nights we stayed. The host said he’d send his maintenance guy to fix it, which it wasn’t. Although he did send his maintenance guy to deliver furniture during our stay!!! ☹ More on that below. - A hefty cleaning fee to find gross bloody bandage on the floor & dirty bed comforters. - No heating; portable heaters & fans were needed to move about the house to create a comfortable temperature. - Parking is a nightmare & unsafe. Whatever car you can fit in the garage makes it challenging to enter the unit since there is cabinetry in the garage occupy space. Good luck squeezing into the home with your luggage & personal belongings. Why? Because the host doesn't want you to use the front door to not disturb the neighbor. After moving the trash cans outside, very little room & visibility is available to park 2 other vehicles up against the garage & off of the busy highway. - Jimmy rigged repairs on broken towel racks, broken sensors among some of the other items were sketchy. The host seemed to think it’s perfectly okay to schedule deliveries during our paid stay & occupancy. The maintenance guy delivered the furniture yet didn’t appear to fix the lighting issues we reported on day #1. We were woken up early ~8:30 a.m. when the delivery of furniture arrived, to facilitate that move of furniture into the house our multiple cars would have to be moved. We refused the intrusion & instructed the furniture to be left outside per the hosts instructions. To our further dismay, the neighbor complained that she was blocked & as a thoughtful courtesy my guest ended up moving the furniture into the house after they got dressed for the rain. Upsetting, my guests, on a paid rental, were MOVING the hosts furniture into the house during their vacation

This house is central to all of the Malibu area restaurants, beaches, etc. Host was very responsive to all questions. Good space and beautiful location. The only challenge for us is the ocean is very loud at night and made it difficult to sleep in the master bedroom. Thanks for a great stay!

Our stay in Malibu was one of the most relaxing friends trips yet. The home is how it’s described in the listed and you can’t get any closer to the ocean. The balcony was nice and we saw dolphin swim by multiple times. During high tide the water would come all the way up to the house, even splashing onto the patio and back windows! The water is rough here and there is little to no sand so don’t plan to swim or hang on the beach here. The bedrooms were nice but ceiling fans would make them even better. The kitchen was good but many of the items in the cabinets were dirty(just need to check on things after people leave). Basics were there…salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, etc so that was helpful. Getting in and out of the garage was crazy. You must have a compact car or it’s a no go. It would have been so much better if we could enter the front door instead of the garage. We understood that the front walkway was a shared area with the neighbor but just entering the house wouldn’t have impacted her privacy. Overall it’s a great on the ocean rental and I would recommend it.

This is a great house. It worked well for my family and friends. The Santa Monica Pier was right down the road. It’s close to shopping and restaurants, and traveling between the house and our various destinations was easy. Our host was always quick to respond when we had a question. It was a beautiful vacation!
